Can either of these Ninja Kitchen products make good nut butter? How about making that nut butter without oil? Find out now! If you liked this video, you might like this almond butter recipe as well: • How to Make Fantastic ...
Peanut butter is not the only great nut butter than you can make at home. Cashew butter and almond butter are just a couple of very popular alternatives. If you can make any of these without using any oil, then you can really cut down a lot of fat and calories as well. However, that can be pretty hard to do. In this video we will test the Ninja Professional Food Processor and the Ninja Foodi Power Blender (Ninja Foodi Ultimate System) to find out which, if either can make good nut butter with and without oil. We tested Peanuts, Cashews, and Almonds to see if they came out different. Check out the video to see the results!

Joe, You are not letting the Ninja food processor run to completion. The peanuts should be ground until they make a ball. Then, run it until the peanuts break down into the butter. It takes a long time. I will look into the Ninja Foodi Power Blender, though, because I make small batches, and with my Ninja Professional 1500 Watt blender I need to stop it and scrape the bowl many times.

I just used my ninja food processor for the first time, making cashew butter. I used unroasted, unsalted cashews, that I baked in the oven on 325°, for 9 mins. I ended up with smooth cashew butter. You just have to keep processing until you get the consistency you want. I did not add oil. With my previous processor, I just pressed the start button and it would blend until I stopped it. With the Ninja, it stops on its own, but that's fine because I just use that time to scrape the food off the sides. I'm still learning this processor. I had my previous one for about 17 years.

For me it just depends on how much you want to make. If is a large amount, I use the bigger containers. If you make less however, there isn't enough material in there and it gets stuck to the sides a whole lot. In that case, the cup containers to a great job.

Hello thank you very much, great video very informative, do you think the ninja twisti pitcher can stay on the ninja foodie? I need it so that I can pulverize seeds, I just bought the ninja foodie at Costco last week for around $130 dls great deal ! 😊
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Год назад
That IS a good deal. As far as the twisti goes, I'm not sure, since I haven't had a chance to mess with that one. A lot of the Ninja foodi stuff does seem to fit on other base units, though.... however, you lose most of the custom functions a lot of time... like the ultimate system has food processing discs, but if you use that pitcher on a regular foodi base, the discs won't go... So it might do something like that.

I have the Ninja processor that comes with the Mega Kitchen system. I dump in peanuts, run it until it starts to make real peanut butter, then I scape the sides of the container, run it again for about a minute or 30 seconds. Total time to make the creamiest peanut butter about 1-1/2-2 minutes. The only think I do differently is pan roast the peanuts in 1 tsp of oil until they start to slightly brown. Then I cool them, then I process them. The pan roasting is for extra flavor, but that might have something to do with the way my Ninja processor works 200% better than your demo.

Sure... you can put it in an air tight container, leaving a little bit of a air gap at the top so it can expand, top the container with clingform to help make sure no air gets in, put on the lid, and stick it in the freezer. Should be good for around 6 months or so that way.

You know... The different oils seem to work pretty similar, but I just like using avocado. The nut butters often don't need oil at all it seems, depending on what nuts you get, however. Roasted ones are usually kind of oily already.

That works really well, but you have to do much larger quantity. If you don't fill that blender pitcher enough, there won't be enough material for that thing to work on. It works good if you put 3 cups in there though.

I tried this Ninja and it worked perfectly for macadamias, it made an amazing and perfect cream. But for the almond it's different. I tried with blanched almond and it made a sort of thick paste like if you mix flour with butter. I tried to roast them or add oil but it wouldn't change, it's a paste, not a cream. I guess my almond were not good enough?
@JoesPhenomenal

Hmm... I did it with smokehouse almonds and it did just fine... Those are pretty oily though. That's the key I think. A lot of almonda tend to be pretty dry.

@cassandrabaignoire1762 Год назад
Could you please clear something up? The instruction manual says DO NOT process dry ingredients. How does that NOT apply to what you are doing? I'm confused. I thought food processors are supposed to work with dry ingredients and do grinding operations, yet the manual is saying NO to both processes
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Год назад
You know...I read that too, and felt the same way. I'm not sure what they were getting at, though, since I still do it anyways. They only thing I can think of is that since the pitcher is plastic, dry ingredients will probably scratch it a bit, but that doesn't really bother me.... I grind mustard seed in there all the time and it hasn't caused any issues for me though. I usually do that in the power blender though. It works better for that kind of stuff since it has higher speeds.
@cassandrabaignoire1762
@cassandrabaignoire1762 Год назад
@@JoesPhenomenal Thank you so much for the response and for overturning the alarmist nature of the manual. Aesthetics do not concern me; it's the longevity and efficacy of the device in the longrun that matter most. Also: Is the Ninja Twisti that claims to be more powerful than a Vitamix actually more powerful than a typical Vitamix? And does the Twisti make the nut butters better than the other Ninja models like the recent power/processor system you tested on?
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Год назад
The twisti doesn't seem much different than the smoothie bowl adapter on the Ninja Foodi Power blender.... The power is roughly the same too so I would think it would perform similar too. Not sure about the capacity on that though. I like the Ninja stuff better than Vitamix, personally, but that more because for me, I don't think the Vitamix products are worth the wildly inflated prices.... They are definitely powerful though. Raw power, I'd say the Vitamix probably is better off, but the Ninjas seem to do the job just fine due to their blade design.
@cassandrabaignoire1762

@JoesPhenomenal

@@laurathompson9107 Heya Laura.... Roasted nuts have a little different texture to them, usually more oil, stuff like that. It kind of depends on the nut. If they're already roasted, a lot of times you don't need to add much, if any oil at all. Maybe a little more with raw ones.... In addition to maybe a bit of salt and/or herbs for flavoring. It's takes a little experimentation. I usually start with less or no oil, and then add a little if I don't get a smooth texture.... The oil also helps them blend more easily by the way.

I NEVER ADD OIL to my nut butters (peanut, almond, walnut, sunflower) which I make in my old 750W Kitchenaid food processor (100W less power than the Ninja food preocessor). There is plenty enough oil (and calories) in the nuts without adding more. Joe just wasn't patient enough and didn't scrape the sides of the bowl and let the processor run long enough. It can take 8-10 minutes of processing before the natural oils are released from the nuts and the contents becomes butter.
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Год назад
True... These days I just just roast the nuts, process them and add a little bit of salt at the end to flavor. Back then, I used to do that stuff the way store brands typically do with their "natural" versions which usually includes a bunch of unneeded oil.

Peanut butter takes only about 2 minutes total in my Ninja Mega Kitchen processor. I do use 1 tsp oil and pan roast them first for extra flavor. I scrape the sides once. I use 1 pound of peanuts which fills a 12-ounce canning jar with peanut butter.

@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal 10 месяцев назад
The problem with peanut butter is that it likes to stick to the sides of the container really good, so if you do it without any oil added at all, you have to be pretty patient with it and pulse it slowly until you get as much of the natural oils out of it as possible so you have something to help keep it from sticking. It might even take adding a little extra oil to the mix about half way through to really get it loosen up. That and you'll need to open the container and scrape every so often, since you need to get it buttery smooth with no chunks at all. Probably a bit of extra time blending also. You can get it there, but it takes a little time. Might be more cost effective to buy the smooth stuff from the store since they have the big machines in the factory doing that on really large quantities at a time.

The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." 2 Esdras 2:31 ;;;;;;;;;;'''::::::''''’

We've had pretty decent luck with ours... Then again, we don't do really any grinding with it, so I can't really comment on that. Definitely on the loud side though.

@@JoesPhenomenal When I use it to make any nut butter, I always use the blender! More power and much less (!!) work. Also, I ALWAYS use the Ninja while having my over-ear headphones to not make myself completely deaf! 🤦‍♂🤯

@@moshik5 Yeah.... I can see that. Especially if you have sensitive ears like a lot of people do. Most Ninja products are pretty noisy too... It's one of the complaints I have about them... It doesn't bother me that much, but that may be due to all that loud music I listened to in my car growing up. Haha.

@@JoesPhenomenal hhh indeed, my ears are much more sensitive than in high school. But I reckon that the next blender will be on the more quiet side - cause BYGOD, the ninja is over-the-top noisy

for the price, can't you just turn the Ninja on for 10 minutes, open and stir, and then set to go 10 more minutes? I just used a hamilton beach food processor with just an on/off switch on it and that is all i did, 2 sets of 10 minutes, no oil at all and it was SUPER creamy, and that is just a 60$ cheapy machine, I'm here to see how great the Ninja is I was going to buy it, but I don't think this guy is using it right

Heya Trip. That Ninja Pro food processor is the model from several years ago. I'm not sure how it compares to the current model. The Hamilton Beach FP is pretty inexpensive, but don't let that fool ya. It's a pretty darned good machine for the money. The main problems with the Ninja Processor from this video, were that it has a relatively slow RPM, tended to get bogged down a little on the easy side, the blade sat a little bit too high, so a lot of what was being processed would just slip under the blade unless you were doing larger capacities (which made making nut butters a little problematic if you weren't doing a lot of it, since it kept sweeping over the top of it, and it had some issues with a lot of ingredients getting lodged up under the pusher when using the discs. Later on, Ninja Released their Ultimate system, which was basically a Ninja foodi power blender that came with discs and a special processing lid with a pusher on it, and the difference was pretty amazing, to me. It can do everything the dedicated processor was able to do, but better, and had a bunch of extra power. It also had that extra utility to act as a good blender, too, so you didn't have to use up extra counter space on 2 machines. That's not to say that the Ninja Pro food processor was bad per se (we did use it quite a bit), just that the updated all-in-one type version was a lot nicer. We still have both over here, but seldom use the older machine unless we need to use both machines at the same time. Your mileage might vary though. Everybody uses stuff slightly different.

I have the Mega Kitchen model - the new one (it has one major problem - no opening in the lid to add ingredients - so no mayo in it). I was having trouble making almond butter with it - took forever. I ran it for maybe 10-15 minutes then stopped and went back after it cooled down and ran it some more because I was afraid of overheating it. I'm regularly making peanut butter in it (tastes better than almond or cashew butter in my opinion). The peanut butter takes no more than about 2 minutes total and comes out creamy smooth. I haven't tried cashew butter in it, but since cashews are softer than peanuts it should do a good job. I use it several times a week to make almond milk and sometimes cashew milk. I've done oatmeal milk but don't like it as much (although I love oatmeal). The smoothie attachment will make a smoothie you can eat with a spoon. Fill up the cup halfway with frozen fruit, add milk to just cover the fruit and you get a smooth, thick drink. I haven't done chopped vegetables yet. Getting ready to try mustard seed.

Didn't work at all for me using the same processor. Added oil and processed for over an hour and just got powder.

That kinda weird.... what kind of nuts were you using? Raw ones or Roasted? If it's coming out powdery, it's not moist enough. sometimes you end up having to stir it a little too, if it all sticks to the sides and the blades can't get to it.

@@JoesPhenomenal I'm going to try again. I used raw sprouted almonds, then dried them in the oven. I think I put too many in and didn't dry them long enough.

@@JoesPhenomenal I tried again with success. This time I roasted the almonds for longer and only used two cups as opposed the the four used previously. It still took around 45 minutes because of all the stopping and scraping from the sides and beneath the blades. The almond butter tasted great--the organic raw almond butter I have been buying tasted stale compared to the fresh. My intention was to replace the store bought with fresh but it's a little too time consuming. I'll probably just switch from almond butter to snacking on raw fermented almonds instead.

@CheaplaffsJohnson gla dit came out nice.. Deintely it can be a pain with all the stopping and starting. I did do a review on Ninjas new Detect system, and I was able to do nut butter in it in the video in 1 shot without having to stir it. That's the first time I ever had it that easy. Might be worth checking out.
