Yes pick up trucks! Not even HD trucks. You need to take out a second mortgage and finance over a decade. This was the plan all along, I heard the head of World Bank address Stanford economics students a decade ago, he said that this was coming…a rebalance of wealth against the western middle class towards Asia and Africa and it would make everyone very unhappy. Here we are, about to eat bugs and drive rented electric cars
@pryme2013
@pryme2013 Год назад
The base model trucks are still affordable for anyone “middle class” and they give up nothing in terms of capability. So if people really want the functionality of a pickup then get a base truck. If you need the bling and all that silly stuff, then I can’t help ya

The financing arms of these manufacturers are more than happy to provide loans of 60, 72 and probably even 80 months if needed. That's how a lot of people are "affording" them.

The Cummins engine on the RAM 2500 Rebel was an odd choice. The payload number went way down because of off road focused suspension. Which means it can’t tow heavy loads, which is the main reason to get a Cummins in the first place. And, all the extra weight added by a diesel engine only hurts off-road prowess.

you guys should do a cab size mpg test with midsize, half-ton and heavy duty. Like with the new Nissan frontier for example if you get the crew cab lwb or the king cab long bed , it would be cool to see how much of a difference cab size makes when comparing trucks with the same engine/transmission/gear ratio, Iv always assumed the smaller cab would get overall better mpg over the crew cab just due to the weight reduction but I would be curious if it makes a significant difference or if Its negligible. was going to test it myself but almost no dealers in Saskatchewan have king cabs everyone is obsessed with the 4door variants

The thing a that are left out of all conversations about new trucks is reliability. Spending so much on them it’s crazy that it’s not mentioned for the most part. I am also a sucker for nice interiors and surround cameras and all that hood stuff though and I know it’s hard to know how the parts will perform over time. But I feel like they are all super reliable with only the def and other emissions stuff in the diesels really are holding that back. It makes a big deal when it comes to top end limits. The torque output is the ultimate limit of rolling capacity. If horsepower was all that mattered the 6.4 hemi should be able to do exactly the same amount of work as the Cummins. The 7.3(2020-2022) would out work the Cummins yet they don't. Rams getting there ass kicked by the Tremor. Just by the Powerstroke Tremor. My 2020 F350 6.7 sitting in the driveway is 8300lbs. Prob the Chevy. The GMC is breathtaking to look at & is too fancy. It's not practical. I like how the heavy duty trucks used to be a little smaller. I'd go with an older one for that reason. The new HD trucks are too huge. Also I don't make 300k a year and would never be able to afford a new one.

if im buying a truck just to pull, i would go with ford. For a daily that i use to pull on weekend then the gmc. Father in law has a 2020 3500 gmc and it rides amazing for a heavy duty.

If money was no object (which it is so i wont be buying any of these trucks) I'd go with the Ford Super Duty.

One of these dealers needs to bring back a good old plain Jane pickup that cuts the price down. Luxury is nice but the market of people that can afford a 100k dollar truck is small compared to those who would pay for a plane Jane truck and motor!

I feel there is something wrong in the equation of expecting an 8000 pound truck to control and stop a 36 000 pound trailer going down the side of a mountain highway. At the price point for these luxo-HD pickups, you are well into medium duty truck price range, and need a CDL to pull that heavy anyway. So I would go Hino, or International or any other medium duty truck company. You can spec them with any of the diesel motors from these pickups and other options to boot, especially in the transmission department. They also tend to last a lot longer. At this point it seems a little silly to me. Pretty much every vehicle on the road is capable of exceeding reasonable safety performance in one way or another. As Steve said, just because you can move that load with that truck, it doesn't mean that it's a good idea. You can probably get a 10k lbs trailer up to highway speeds with a Honda civic, if you really want to. If the market demanded such lunacy, car companies would try to sell it to you. Should you do it, though?

You have to mention that we the consumers have been push or corralled to purchase expensive trucks on the opposite side of the price spectrum. Remember, trucks are the cheapest to manufacture with the most profitable margins. The real work and cheap truck days are over.

GM doesn't see the F-450 as a true 1 ton. If we go off that they are 2nd. Ram 3500 is 1st at 37,100. Ford F-350 35,750. All these numbers are for WT. In crew cab I recall Ram having 34,500. Truck is mostly loaded unlike WT's. Ford and GM are stuck around 32k in similar form as Ram.
