Celebrini played for the Jr sharks, his dad works for the Warriors Bay Area is a home town to him (yes he is born in Vancouver but grew up In the Bay Area) and it would be awesome to see sharks call him and bring Draymond green (those two are close believe it or not) to welcome him to the Bay Area!

I definitely wouldn't say it as he grew up in the Bay Area...he was in Canada until the 18-19 season, played a year for the Jr Sharks in 19-20, went to Shattuck St Mary's the following 2 years, then played for Chicago in the USHL last year before going to BU this year. I think the story of him coming to the Sharks is great between his year for the Jr Sharks, his dad's job with the Dubs, and the fact that he's going to BU which has significant ties to GMMG and Quinn, but spending a year somewhere isn't growing up there.

@@mattbiondo4326 to be honest ? I don’t think he would rather be a hawk at all. The point of a rebuild is to have a number one overall and build around that player. I don’t think he is going to be better then Bedard, And that would hurt his ego I’m sure. He wants to shine and it would be hard to do that in bedards shadow. Just my opinion.

@@deltagolavista1Thornton was truly elite for only a few seasons after coming to us. He remained elite after, but not upper echelon elite like his first two seasons in SJ. Thornton superpower was he didn’t see that steep decline most players do until his late 30’s.

@@jimmybobby1652 True, but look what happened at 2017 draft, Colorado had 48 points the worse record basically in NHL history. New Jersey Devils had 70 points. They won the Draft lottery. Everyone was picking Colorado to draft first they drafted 4th, which was Cale Makar. Tell me that Bettman didn't rig that draft. Every year it's the same thing he controls the draft. It wouldn't surprise me if the Blackhawks didn't get 1st round pick. This is my opinion. I agree the Sharks should get the first pick.

Question for Canadian hockey fans: who was the last true dynamic duo that were both Canadian? Isn't it curious that every dynamic duo (other than Mackinnon & Makar, but one is a forward and the other is a defenseman) is always a non-Canadian? Toews & Kane, Sakic & Forsberg, Yzerman & Fedorov, Crosby & Malkin, McDavid & Draisaitl, Lemieux & Jagr. Isn't it about time we had a dynamic forward duo both of whom are Canadian? I think Gretzky & Messier were the last true Canadian-Canadian forward dynamic duo. It's for this reasons alone that I want Chicago to get Celebrini. The great Canadian dynamic duo of Bedard & Celebrini. No need to worry about a Kane/Malkin/Forsberg/Jagr/Fedorov/Draisaitl stealing the thunder from one another.

It was not meant to be, I suppose. But, who knows. Sharks have Pittsburgh's 1st round pick and for whatever reason, Berkly Catton is falling in the 2024 NHL Draft rankings. I would take Catton 2nd overall without hesitation. One of the most dominant draft eligible seasons in WHL history and he's dropping in the rankings. Here's hoping it becomes a thing. Or maybe McKenna in a few years could still wind up on one of: Sharks (Celebrini); Chicago (Bedard); or Columbus (Fantilli). It has to happen at some point right? Forget Canada's cup drought. What about Canada's dynamic duo drought? Benn & Seguin were star players. But not superstar, bordering on generational level. Same for Stamkos and St. Louis.

Montreal needs a bonafide star. Haven't even had an 80 point guy in forever. Don't get me wrong, I love the more balanced team than putting all your eggs in one big basket, but we need to fill the game changer spot that Carey Price held for so many years.

But Suzuki is on pace for 80 points while being a top 10 selkie player this year? If thats not elite then I have 0 clue what is. If we need an 100 point scorer as our top priority even when we have even bigger issues elsewhere it will just make us the next Edmonton. The reason Crosby won so many cups wasn't because he scored 150 points in the season. It wasn't because he scored 70 goals. It's because his overall game was perfect. Same with Toews who I'd argue is worse then Suzuki and was on a multi cup winning team as their #1 C.

Hope the Kraken tank hard and at least get a chance to get a more offensive true C prospect. Beniers is good. Likely a 2-3 C and Shane wright is about the same thing with slightly more offensive dynamics. Celebrini would really round out their Forward prospect pool in a way that allows players that should be wingers to not have to play C.

@@speedyburePittsburgh would 100% keep this year’s pick, if they won the lottery. No move they can reasonably make would provide a better player. Celebrini hits both sides of what Dubas wants- youth and NHL players. Any other pick outside the first, maybe second, yeah, Pitt sends it (even top 10, which they wouldn’t HAVE to).

They haven't released the date yet, but the last 2 were May 8, 2023 (around game 3 of the 2nd round of the playoffs) and May 10, 2022 (roughly game 5 of the 1st round of the playoffs). The one before that was June 2, 2021 but that was the weird 56-game season, so my guess is around the end of the 1st round of the playoffs which should be around May 5-10 (regular season ends April 18, a few days between regular season and the playoffs, a round of the playoffs is about 2 weeks)

Penguins currently have the 8th best odds at 6% as the Sabres and the Devils are now above the Pens in the standings. I want the Pens to the win with the 8th best odds and keep the "Sharks pick" from the Karlsson trade. I want the Sharks to lose with the best odds to win, and not have the conditions to get the Pens top 10 protected pick.The Sharks losing with the best odds to the team whose pick is really "the Sharks" if the Pens finish 11th or above sounds like NHL karma. Agreed! I understand that the Sharks are in need of talent in general, but in terms of a team that Celebrini could make an immediate impact on I don’t think there is a team out there better poised than Calgary. The Flames have excellent winger depth, Kadri could easily take on a first line/1A center roll with Zary and Kuzmenko, leaving a Huberdeau-Celebrini-Sharangovich second line/1B. Flames also loaded up on defensive prospects, who with a couple years development should be ready to give Calgary a pretty beefy D-core. Unfortunately the Flames never get that kind of luck to win the lottery, and a few meaningless wins at years end kept us from moving as high as 5th overall (along with significantly better lottery odds). But Celebrini would expedite this rebuild/retool by a couple years and would likely be Macklins best chance of being on a “relevant now” team!

Great Video, as usual, Nathan. My Chicago Blackhawks not only need him, but, they've got to get him, as Kane & Toews during Chicago's last rebuild in The Late 90s. Chicago likely will win The Draft & get him as #1 & get criticize like last year, even though they didn't have A Last Place Finish that they're having now.

You Chicago fans have become entitled. To think you guys deserve him the most 😂… Literally the vast majority of fans believe there was foul play in the last lottery. You guys had 3 cups in 5 years and cemented yourself as a dynasty. Upon losing your marquee players you immediately got another one, and now you feel entitled to a second? 🤦. The Sharks are by far the more deserving team. They should were by far the worst team last year too. Only reason they didn’t completely bottom out in an all out embarrassing fashion was because EK65.

I think that David Quinn has The San Jose Sharks playing on life support too well to bottom out, but, we'll see. I have a funny feeling that The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be #1, but, if they don't, so be it.

Don't get your hopes up on it. Even if we lost the next 17 games in regulation in a row the Sharks would still need at least go 11-7-0 at the end of the year. Realistically the lowest we may finish is 4th last. We're not worse then any of the bottom 3 teams and Columbus isn't too far behind.

From reading the comments, it's obvious that nobody realizes that in the last SIXTY YEARS, the Hawks have had exactly TWO first overall picks. If they did, the idiotic talk of the league rigging things for Chicago would end. But since we're talking about hockey fans, maybe not.

That’s not a super relevant stat, though. The Penguins have ‘only’ picked #1 overall three times (and one of those was from a trade). The Blue Jackets have only picked once, and THAT was also via trade.
