Let me know, which teams that missed the playoffs this year do YOU see breaking out in 2025?
What you didn't consider about Montreal is 23 1 goal games lost and 10 empty net 2 goal games. Even half of that is 15-17 points higher and in the wildcard contention. That's without some young guys that will ome up next year.
Yeah i found it odd at %10 especially with thinking teams like Buffalo and Ottawa will get in, I know Buffalo has beat the Habs quite a bit this year I don't think their that much better than the Habs. The Habs also keep up with some of the best teams in the league pretty consistently
@@forikram Montreal and Buffalo went 2-2 against each other this season. Each team won both road games. Montreal was actually ahead of Buffalo the entire season until March when Buffalo went on a bit of a run.
@@alexschannel8636 not to mention a huge piece of our lineup was missing for the whole year in Dach, I can almost guarantee that he would be the reason for at least 10 more wins on the season(I don’t think that’s unrealistic, he was playing really good to start the year) I’m going to be bold here to say this maybe but I think it’s about a 55% chance the Habs make the playoffs next year if the offseason goes well(this is key) I genuinely think it’s in their hands and can make the playoffs as a wildcard team if they play to it, but I know there’s a good chance they don’t make it, they’ll be in a fight next season I think but right there with those teams going for the wildcard. The only reason people have them not making the playoffs is because of how difficult the division is which in my opinion is kind of a moot, the team has shown time and time again even with Dach out of the lineup that they can keep up with the big guns in the league on most nights, it’s gunna be fun to watch next season and this offseason, get ready folks.
You can argue the opposite too, they won 16 one goal games, WHAT IF they lost half of them? Alot of what ifs, you can always speculate anything really. ultimately they just have to do better
I'm huge on the Sabres for next season but my main concern is the division they're in (which he didn't really mention). Hard to say they'll knock down Toronto, Florida, or Boston. Which means they'll probably fight for a wild card spot which is iffy when you consider Tampa is likely to be firmly in that race. Tampa had major injuries to start the season and even without sergachev they've been on a tear the last couple months. Maybe the Sabres sneek in as WC2 but it's really hard to give them a 90% chance.
I think Montreal can gonna have a massive offseason : make a trade for a young top-6 foward (Zegras, Necas, etc.), I can see them bring a UFA player who can play in the top-6 (Stamkos, Toffoli, Marchessault, etc.), I belive in a return of Monahan and I can also see Kent Hughes clearing somes contracts (especially Anderson and Dvorack).
Grav your 90% wrong about Montreal 10% … we will bounce into the playoffs as Florida,Tampa bay ,Pittsburgh,Washington are all aged out. Those teams need an overhaul.
Ducks were never healthy in their top 6 this season and our defense is so young. We’ve got d men playing on their off hand as rookies lol I think in the offseason we try and find a top 4 defensive force to help sure that up (right handed plz GMPV) I can see us signing a winger as well for the top 6 or if we want cutter, Leo, vatrano, z, mcT, killer, and move Terry down to the third line, get him some help on the opposite side. There’s lots to like in Anaheim moving forward. Noah Warren could also make that jump. Oh not to mention we got that top 5 pick coming in 2024. Holy cow if we get celebrini?????
@@DBSG1976Montreal fan here.. i really wish you the best with Shane Wright, i really do. But.. dont be delusionnal... Slafkovsky's way better ! But i do see Shane Wright as a solid player that could easily fit on your top 6 however ! Wishing you the best !
@DBSG1976 Slaf is already a solidified top 6 forward...We doing just fine. I'm honestly hoping Wright does well with Seattle and finally breaks into the NHL full time.
The Sabres are right there they have had great goaltending in Ukko Pekka Luukonen. I’m very impressed with his stats. I hope to see this team Coached right not soft like the past 13 years now! This team has potential the gm just needs a new coaching staff.
Ottawa is a slow cooker. Just gotta let that shit cook. I see alot of similarities between them and Vancouver, and hope the sens will have a similar break out eventually. No idea how long that will take, though. They need a Thatcher Demko to even entertain that idea.
With even average goaltending they'd be in playoffs this season. If we can somehow get a Markstrom, Ullmark or someone like that + replace a few other pieces to fill out the roster we'd be in a much better spot next season.
I definitely don't see Columbus breaking out next year. This year was supposed to be that year. They also need to fire Pascal in the off-season. Man should have been sent packing the moment he picked PATRIK FREAKING LAINE of ALL players to play 1C instead of the 1C they drafted in Adam Fantilli.
My poor devil's had an awful year. Hopefully they tend to the goalie and defense issues. Our offensive game is at the top of the league but that can only get you so far. Fore!
Verbeek needs to use some that cap space and sign Vatrano to an extention. Just coming into his prime, career highs on a rebuilding team, great motor and attitude. Get ahead of this one and show your not gonna stay in rebuild mode forever.
Everything would have to fall just right for the Jackets to become a playoff team, but they should be happy with improving to "in the hunt". That collapse/passive box defense is horrible. Pascal Vincent's ceiling as a HC is still undetermined, but moves like playing a grinder like Boone Jenner premium minutes on a line with Johnny Gaudreau while David Jiricek sees no PowerPlay time is tactically naive.
@@wolfdreams1545 As an experiment in 2022, I get it. Trying it out on a team that had the chemistry of a funeral proceeding hosted by Lil Jon, absolutely not. And he did it multiple times
NJ finishes 2nd in the division behind the NYR, and ahead of Carolina. For some reason I don't love Minny for a sure playoff spot. Dallas should stay first. It's hard to not predict Edmonton and Florida in their divisions.
Wild at 35% is pretty criminal… if the “aging core” is underperforming again next year, BG will trade them. No one is safe (unless they have NMC) and not to mention we still have one of the best prospect pools in the entire league with guys like Ohgren and Khustidinov primed for Calder runs… and then the next year when we have 11+ million more in cap space… watch out is all I have to say *knocks on wood*
Only 15% chance for Seattle is criminally low imo. Full time Shane Wright + no Hakstol + a lot of the core players coming back + cap space to make a big move. I'd say 55% chance they bounce back and make it :)
yeah i was kind of shocked by his talk on Philly. theyre very much still in it this year. they play one of the guys theyre fighting for the spot tomorrow night and if they win i can very much see them in the playoffs. granted they do need to count on washington losing tonight and detroit also losing, but you still cant count them out on that alone.
Buffalo. They have the best G situation of any team mentioned here. Their D and is green, but they are Uber-talented. With a new coach preaching structure and accountability the F’s should rebound closer to the previous season’s standards. They have the cap flexibility to address key needs - more thump & intimidation, and at least average PP.
I think what we all forget is for non-playoff teams to make the jump, playoff teams need to fall out. We could make an argument for Detroit, Buffalo, Montreal and Ottawa but for all 4 to make it, we would need 4 teams to fall out, at least 3 of which would have to be Atlantic teams. That being said, I could make an argument for Toronto, Boston and Tampa and dropping out
Hey man Ive been liking the videos but I would reconsider your gambling endorsements as soon as you can. I understand the need for revenue so I do not judge you for accepting it. Be aware of your influence on some younger people that may follow you.
@@mike8099m before the monahan trade the habs were less than 8-10point from a playoff spot with the emergence of Slafzilla, add to it an healthy Dach you just need another top 6 guy and you are in the play off scheme from next year and couple extra years to be an 100 point club
Something about seeing potential lineups of basement teams with players whom I watched all get drafted makes me so freakin hard. It's like the Magikarp of hockey
I think the habs can be a competitive team in 2024-25 for sure. This is what i would do this offseason. Depending on whether Hutson is ready or not, you trade Matheson and aquire some assets, or keep him and start Hutson in the AHL. Then, trade Dvorak for whatever you can get for him. In FA, sign the QC native Marchessault and Brett Pesce on defense. Trade a pick or something for a solid middle 6 LW or sign one in FA like Ducalir that would look something like this Slaf/Suzuki/Caufield Duclair/Dach/Marchessault Roy/Newhook/Anderson RHP/Evans/Gallagher (Matheson-hutson)/Pesce Guhle/Savard Struble/Xhekaj/Mailloux Montembeault Primeau
@@chuck7850i think on a 1 or 2 year deal for him to really shut doen next to the top OFD in Matheson or Hutson. Savard will be gone after next year and then Mailloux Reinbacher can take the 2 remaining spots when that happens
I gotta go with New Jersey...Losing Dougie Hamilton hurt them big time, plus Hughes was hurt for a bit...Find a starting goalie in the offseason and they should be good.
Flyers not dead yet buddy. Looking pretty bleak, but Flyers win and Wings, Pens regulation losses certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Not to mention they had much better odds at the time you uploaded this video. Hope they prove you wrong again.
If montreal is healthy and slafkovsky playing as he did this second half or better and some more talent coming in I wouldn't be surprised if they made it in. The had the most 1 goal games in the league so imagine if they scored 1 more goal in half of those games.. they'd win wayy more. You never know! It's possible
I'd actually give the Blues a better than even chance of making the playoffs as a wild card next year, say, 55% or so. This off-season they need to: A) Extend Buchnevich B) Acquire a 2nd line center C) Revamp their defense (If possible) If they can do all three of those things, they'll have a good shot at it. If they can only do the first two, then it becomes a lot more 'iffy,' but still reasonable. You're absolutely right that Binnington had an incredible season that's flown a bit under the radar. He's at or near the top in high-danger saves and doesn't seem to be slipping. With a better defense in front of him, he should be just as good next season, too. Kessel is already a big step up over Scandella, Parayko's good for what he is (which isn't really a #1 blueliner), and Leddy is, IMHO, seriously under-rated as a second pairing guy. Faulk and Krug, though, just don't seem like top-pairing defensemen any more. Most of the NTCs that are handcuffing them (especially on defense) drop down to “List 15 teams” clauses NEXT Summer, and that's when I think they're far more likely to be solid competitors, especially with the emergence of several REALLY good looking younger players on the way.
Depending on which prospect start next year, injuries and this year draft...Montréal is ready to get to the next step ! They will breakout for sure !! Also i get you analysis about the division, but it's unsustainable for most of the top team, and the Sabers, Sens and Wings will have to stabilize their core to do something...That first line is just too good and well balance right now and there are too many good prospect coming next year !
It won't be this offseason, we would know about it already. I think the earliest we get a new expansion team is 2026-27, and likely up to 36 teams by 2032
I think the Pens are still going into a rebuild 100%, but I will say, seeing a bunch of young players step up since the beginning of April when this team was old, slow, and dead in the water has been really nice to see. O'Connor has been great, St.Ivany has been so solid as a player with 0 NHL experience, Joseph is comfortably playing on the top pair with Letang, so there's reasons to be optimistic about some of the talent in the system for sure. We are not going to be competing for a cup anytime soon though
If I'm the Sens I move Chychrun Brannstrom off the blue line bring in Demelo and Hakanpaa as replacements. Sign a middle 6 2 way forward, buy out Forsberg and sign a couple cheap back up options we've seen other teams be able to win with these cheap goalies that come out of nowhere and then hire Berube as HC. Gonna be a lot of work for this management group ahead of next season certainly will be tough to fix everything for next season
The Sens for the 3rd year in a row lol. Would love for that to happen maybe without Dorion and DJ there and with new ownership and management. I have some hope but its getting hard to after failure after failure
