Sorry for what appears to be noise distortion in the background! I was filming during a particularly bad rainstorm and that's the sound of the rain on the roof of my workroom!

Awww thank you so much Carole! I have to confess that I'm a bit of a Style Arc addict as I love their style and fit. I'm currently making a pair of Albie pants in linen, hoping to get them finished today but think I'm being a little optimistic as we have a family BBQ this afternoon! I'm not entirely sure that Bob fits my aesthetic but I'll give them a go! And I'll review the patten in a future video if you like? I think it would be fun!

@@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe yes do! Be interesting to see if you like them. They are one of the first garments I made when I restarted sewing 3 years ago. I didn’t really like my choice of fabric and they were a bit big, although I sized down. I plan to make another pair this summer in some navy tencel linen, which has more of a drape.

It's so lovely isn't it? As soon as I saw it newly published on the Style Arc website I knew I had to have it as it fits my aesthetic perfectly! I will definitely be making it up so will be sure to film a review!

Do you find the patterns come out to big?

My honest opinion is that I find that Style Arc patterns are spot on for sizing. I do, however, take my measurements regularly as they do fluctuate; I'll then match these measurements to the Style Arc size guide. I'll then also look at the finished measurements of the garment to check the ease of the design, then size up or down if necessary. I'm also aware that for my measurements, I will sometimes have to grade between sizes to get a good fit (I did this for the Kim dress!) Lastly, I think it's very important to choose a style that will suit your body type: I'm fairly petite at 5'2" so some of the on trend, buffet styles don't suit my body shape at all and would swamp me so I do think that this is an important consideration as well Hope that all helps!

I've been a bit wary of Style Arc patterns as I send my files of for printing A0 and it seems I have to have all sizes printed rather than just a few sizes around my size. If I choose a file with my size and the size above and below, they say they are separate files, and not nested, so that seems a bit strange. I do not want to go back to printing A4 and sticking together.

I believe some printers can print only the size you want so it's worth emailing them to check to see if this is possible before you send your files to be printed 😊 but yes, if you purchase a single size pattern from Style Arc, you will receive a pdf with your size plus a size above and below which are separate pdf files. Hope that helps!

@@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe Yes, the company I send to can print certain sizes, which is what I have done if the PDF has layers, but I was under the impression that the Style Arc A0 files did not have the layer function. I was sure I'd read that somewhere on the website, or elsewhere.

I've looked into this for you this morning! You should find that the newer patterns (like Zalia and Saskia) and the updated patterns (such as Bob and the Summer Cover-up) have layers in the A0 pdf which can be switched on and off for printing. The older patterns, where the construction sheet is part of the A0 sheet, don't appear to have the layer function; this includes the Barry and Harmony patterns for example. Hope this helps! 😊

@@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe Thank you for doing that, it's very kind of you. I was going to do more research and give them a go sometime. I am sure I would be OK with the sparse instructions I've heard about, as I have quite a number of years of sewing under my belt, but I try to avoid having multiple size layers if I can help it. I do have some indie patterns with all size layers and it's all very confusing with overlapping lines and colours, so I tend to look for alternatives with the layer facility. Best wishes, Diane.
