Throughout of my golf career (spanning around seven years) I have been using a putter grip that is left higher than the right hand. I switched from Tiger's reverse overlap, to my regular club grip, to no overlap or interlock to right hand right next to the shaft while my left hand is near the butt of the grip. I use this grip because it gives me more control over the line.

Great video, Pete. I've used a "not reversed" double interlock for quite some times, now. Basically a standard interlock grip, but the last two fingers of the right hand interlock with the first two of the left hand. Then thumbs align, either on top of each other if the grip in "thin-ish" or side by side on a super-stroke or similar wider grip. Not sure why I use that, but it works (for me) as it feels so natural that I forget it and my wrist do not activate in any unwanted way during the stroke. However, they can still act a bit and allow for more power and precision on longer putts...

using just a classic right below left. I was having some real problems with my putting until my coach got me to slow down and visualise my putts, has made a huge difference especially those ones with in 10ft

Great video. I use the pencil (claw), on putts 25 ft. or less. I use conventional reverse overlap for longer than 25 ft. and any putt off the green for the reasons you described

I am naturally left handed and used to play very casual golf left handed however when I became addicted and took a series of lessons my instructor switched me to the right side based on over 40 yrs of tennis hitting a two-handed backhand which is like a right hand golf swing. I loved it. I tried putting right but because of the dominant eye putt left, right hand low.

I use the conventional right below left, but I interlock my first and second fingers of my left with my third and fourth of my right hand. Seems to be working ok, shot an 81 off a handicap of 20 this morning! Great video by the way!!

i use the pen-holder grip like Sergio and its a very nice and comfortable grip but i do have a hard time gauging distances and how hard i should hit the putt

I putt with a in between full on claw grip and pencil grip? I put my first two fingers plus thumb over the grip and the rest up against the side and it helped me with speed. My alignment was never a problem but putting on Texas greens some can be very fast, the claw helped me slow down my pace

My putting grip is still something I mess around with and change A lot in my game! I tend to be fairly accurate when it comes to finding the right line but really struggle with judging distance! I feel if my putting is one of the main reasons I'm still a high handicap!

Left hand low, or reverse overlap for myself however for most of my golfing career I have used the tiger woods conventional style grip

i Put a superstroke flatso Grip on my Putter because i'm using a Grip very close to your second Version in this Video. only that my thumps are nearly parallel next to each other. Also tried differend Types of grips but this works best for me

I don't hold the grip like any of those even though I've tried. But I have learned how to square up my shoulders and get my stance right. Also bought me a new grip for my putter. It's a used putter and that grip that is on it now is unbelievably smooth and round. The putter is really too long for my height, but I've gotten use to it.

ive somehow ended up with a normal full stroke interlock grip... but with two fingers on my right hand interlocked, feels really secured and i can swing really square

For me it's the conventional grip with left index covering two fingers of the right hand. The only customisation I use is to adjust the right hand so that I feel my right elbow is closer to my body. Haven't tried the other grip types but as I am going to be starting a major effort to improve my putting this month I may consider them. That last grip I learned from golfi g amatuer for close range putts.. Usually the 2-3 ft.. It puts more control towards the hole at close range. A more convetional grip for anytning far just to better understand speeds with accuracy.

I was curious as to how much overlap you used, as it looked in the on-course vlogs that it was quite extensive. For someone with shorter fingers (Cadet-size glove as opposed to standard), would you suggest more "finger coverage" of the grip for control, such as less overlap or even a 10-finger grip?

My grip is closest to the standard reverse overlap but I interlock as per my main swing and for some reason I have my right index finger pointing down the right side of the grip.

Hello Peter, quick question: How do your hand grips differ depending on the club grip? Since you're using a fat grip, how would that change your approach to your hand grip strategy? I'm using the stock grip on my Nike Origin putter and don't necessarily want to change it. Certain hand grips seems more appropriate depending on the club grip. Thanks.

What about the 2 thumb grip... usually used with a "2 thumb" branded putter grip. I use the 2 thumb grip with a fatso no.5 Superstroke grip. Side by side hands so less worry about one hand / shoulder being dominant. Have you ever seen / tried it?

I do a conventional baseball grip with my right hand and cover the top with my left hand and have my thump intersecting with my wrist made a huge different

There's one more, which I tried several years ago and it's helped me achieve pro-level putting stats. For a RH golfer, try rotating your left forearm until your palm faces as horizontal as feels comfortable, IOW a very, very 'strong' grip. That now creates a pivot-point for the left elbow and allows for a very straight feel through impact. YYMV, but it's worked for me.

I use a pistol style grip with thumbs down the front one hand below the other and then both index fingers flanking the sides of the putter. So conventional style with the index fingers providing stability of line with a straight back and through stroke

I used to use the reverse grip and it started causing me to pull it so I suggest using the finger interlock grip because I went to that and now my putting couldn't be better

Double underneath is a very underrated variation as well. Almost impossible for any wristiness to get into your stroke.

I putt one handed. Seriously, I putted poorly two handed. Made the switch years ago after messing around putting one handed. I was amazed how much better I putted with one hand. I have more feel and better distance control. Bottom line is I am much more confident using one hand than two.

Lookup Georges putting grip on you tube , the only perfect pendulum grip you will find, an idea from an average golfer not a pro, you never know where the next great idea will come from, someday we will see a pro do this, its a perfect triangle! Changed my game!! Little awkward @ first but stay with it, just read and speed once you get the feel!!

Great Video Pete. Have played around with lots of different variations and have ended up with my thumbs aligned at the same level with both hands, and using a larger grip to accommodate this. I have seen a few tour players using similar. Does this style have a name?! Cheers.

Hi Pete, I play golf right handed yet Im left eye dominent ( I write, play pool, darts, shoot ect left handed). when I stand over my putts RH (right handed) I see the line on an angle rather then when I stand LH (left handed) on my putts it looks more down the line. Do you know of anyone to play RH and putt LH and should I persist with RH or put effort into trying it LH.

I don't know of anyone that plays tour golf to do it, but I have seen a few people putt opposite, but it is usually lefties that putt righty. However, If you see the line better LH, then don't fight it...just putt LH. It would be easier to get good at putting LH than to spend time training yourself to the correct angle RH.

Luke Pedrana I play right handed but putt from the left side for this reason. The switch isnt as hard as it may seem, get a cheap lefty putter on the web and roll a few.

Like you I am a lefty who play golf right handed. I am also left eye dominant and struggled with misses to the right. I switched to putting lefty but found that a cross handed grip (right hand low) worked best for me. The advantage is that I get to use a familiar grip and the "feel" was also familiar so adoption was nearly instant. Not to mention used left handed putters are cheap to purchase. I encourage you to give it a try. I've been doing it for 4 years and I'm a much better putter as a result.

Stuart Richards I recommend the boa, I bought a pair and they are so much easier to tighten to produce a tighter fit all around your foot and of course the boa is really good quality.

Stuart Richards Boa technology is quite new still (for golf that is) and a lot of golfers probably just haven't gotten around to trying them out.

I had a footjoy fitting by them and prior to that thought BOA was a total gimmick. But after getting the full low down about them, trying them and now buying and wearing them I can hand on heart say I don't think I'd ever buy another pair of golf shoes with laces in them. The close with so much even pressure they are so comfortable. Really worth keeping an eye out for a Foot joy fitting day. There a lot more to it than you would think.

I have tried all of the grips and the closer I am to the hole the worse I putt, unless I use a heavy headed putter. I believe its all in the mind, in practise no problem in a match different. I am trying to think of Seve advice ' Don't think about the consequences '

I have been a similar putter. Make sure your left elbow works slightly around your body and not fly away from your core. At least now I know my putts start online.

my two cents worth is stick to conventional. other styles are just experiments to mask for poor putting performance. it would be interesting to see the percentage of majors won using each style - plus scotty. conventional worked well for nicklaus, woods, player, palmer, phil, rmc.

I have so many golf friends that change grips like I change underwear, like once every month. It's getting to a ridiculous point when players refuse practicing, play a couple of rounds, failing on the green, changing grip and repeat procedure.

I'm using the "pencil grip" for about 2 years now. With succes. There's a video with Mickelson explaining the pro's & con's about it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4WmFKoJghYM.html . I do it exactly as he describes and he has a valid point for long puts on slow greens. But it works for me :-)

Gray descriptions and demonstration. But unfortunately I'm left handed and it's a bit harder than you think to follow the video and in your head turn the grip around to work on a left handed outter.. But that's the way it is for us left handers. The red headed step children of the golf world. If I was anygood I would start my own golf academy for left handers which might be a really bad idea from a business standpoint. But even surgical tools are made for the right handed populace. I unfortunately had a patient die becauseI had to use a clamp made for right handers. Poor Mr Valdez died because of right handed bias. Tragic. But not as tragic as me having trouble with putting grips and lack of LH club inventory. LOL. I'm just kidding about Mr Valdez he lived just walks little funny. LOL
