I agree, my favorite thing about the newer regions is I can use trucks that aren't Russian AWD always on Difflock engaged if I don't want to lose my mind. Also its nice not having to use a rubberband to hold down the gas pedal while I go through super snow or super mud for 10 minutes. The lack of as much grind is nice too, its just not fun to make the same log delivery mission 3 or 4 times. Kola is still pretty though!
The older regions in SR represent gameplay style from og Spintires (you always want to go Slow and Steady) and newer Regions represent an opposed style to the original, where you mostly can use trucks like CLT9000, Transtar 4070A, 57X (I skipped MH9500, becausr it has pretty big Chained/Mudtires, AWD, Diff lock)
In Russian regions, such as Taimyr, Don, Amur, there really are or were places such as those indicated in the game. And they really are not very suitable for trucks, but nevertheless trucks work there in reality. When I worked in the oil industry, I was surprised by the kind of trucks and in what conditions they work in the north.
I think the new snowrunner should be about off-road riding and not road riding. I think Amur is the best. But you are right that the new regions look more realistic.
