Queen Margrethe and Prince Frederik of Denmark attended the funeral, Queen Margrethe was a close friend and family of the late Queen. Queen Margrethe and Prince Frederik are sitting opposite facing King Charles and Queen Camilla in the church. The Danish monarch is now, the only Queen regent in Europe, and the longest sitting monarch in the world, at the moment.

@@angusmcmillan5828 The Emperor and Empress of Japan were there - it's actually tradition in Japan that the Emperor cannot go to funerals so shows how much they respected QEII

And to add to the long list of royals missed at this funeral: princes Beatrix of the house of Orange Nassau. The former queen of the Netherlands, and a close friend to queen Elizabeth II.

Yeah! Why they missed that! Purposedly or not I find it sad. These are people from the past who lives in present and shares good memories with late queen elizabeth

@@dansmodacctThe first king of the Belgians was Queen Victoria’s uncle, so there is a family connection there. Elizabeth and Philippe are fifth cousins. The relation to the Luxembourg grand ducal family is far more distant.

A very dicey topic for any mere mortal to essay. I did enjoy it tho very sad for Queen Margrethe who was a personal friend of the new King's mother. She was clearly emotionally moved and why not.
