It's really weird right? I feel like you have the right to know when you spend a lot of money on a guitar like that! It's crazy to me. Thank you for commenting man, I appreciate it!
I used to own an EBMM Luke and it was my main guitar for years, the fit, finish and pickups on the Luke were sublime. I loved the smaller soft V neck profile when I first bought it but over the years I found I was gravitating towards ‘fuller’ neck profiles and the small body size of the Luke made it feel like a squier mini Strat, particularly when playing with it strapped on. I gradually fell ‘out of love’ with the Luke and sold it. However, I was so impressed with the build quality of the Luke I have been looking for another EBMM guitar with a bigger body size and fuller neck profile to replace it. Thanks for this comparison because the Valentine and Stingray are 2 EBMM models I’m interested in trying. The Sabre and Cutlass sound and look great in reviews too, however the Cutlass necks and bodies look like they might be too small for my preference.
Yes exactly so! Im hoping to get a cutlass in the future as well so I can compare that one too 🙂 its difficult to find videos on valentine and the stingray, not a lot of videos about them! Thanks for commenting! I appreciate it a lot!
Yes!! Awesome video man. This will be super helpful for those interested in these. Like you say, unfortunately not a lot of videos out there for these amazing guitars! I bought my Valentine before playing one too and I'm so stoked on it. It is a different beast than the Stingray but that's why you need both right? 😄.
Haha yes! Thank you! I realize its a very niched video but I really wished someone did one at least when I bought my guitars haha 🙂 now I only need a cutlass too and I can talk about the trinity 😛
If you don’t like where the volume knob is don’t be afraid to try a St Vincent. I tried one on a whim in a trade and it seriously is such a fantastic playing and sounding guitar. They seem like they would be weird but they are so ergo and resonant. Cheers
Currently rocking the saber as my main guitar but looking to add a Valentine or a Cutlass with the HT pick ups. on the fence of which one to go with. lol great video btw
Great review, you are right, Music Man should put more info about all the details, and the neck measurements.... just wish you could measure with a caliper the neck at 1st. 7th and 12th fret and also how wide is the neck...do you think for a Modern Rock Player the Valentine is a better fit?
I’ve got the Dustin Kensrue sig and it’s super cool and versatile. Would love to try a Valentine, probably swap the SC… I would even more so like to try out one of those HT StingRays cause the got TOM bridges and hot pick ups
I have both, kind of... I have a Stingray HT and a Valentine tremolo model. I like the pickups on the RS more than the HT, but like the TOM bridge more. With the Valentine, I'd rather have the hard tail, but got too good of a deal on it. The trem version is just so much brighter than the hardtail ones I've played that its going to get a pickup swap.
That's really interesting. I had no idea! The HT does look really awesome. And definitely had no idea that the Valentine with trem wss brighter in tone.
@@d-mack7053 Ah, yeah I have no idea if they have one. The Cutlass has HSS combination with a silent circuit so that is probably one of the most versatile guitars that they have in their line up for sure. 🙂 Though it's a way fancier strat copy, nothing new there.
Really nice video!! I have a jp15 but I have my eyes on the classic look of the stingray, but I am worried than the sting ray neck could be too chuncky in comparison with the jp15, I have small hands … any thoughts?
Never played a jp15 actually so I can't compare the two but the Stingray is a little bit chunkier than a normal modern "c" shape fender neck if that helps at all. Maybe Black Echo Music can help, he has a lot of experience with Music Man: ru-vid.com/show-UCYv81dBbbHVp7JX09qi1YOw
Good question. Yes you can change it to a humbuckers like you would normally. It required soldering to the board in the back panel. The silent circuit would still work. But a lot of people just convert the Valentine to a regular guitar and remove the silent circuit when they go with humbuckers 🙂
@@alexradsbythanks! it's a great comparison video between valentine and RS. Hard to find any of it on youtube. I'm looking into valentine vs sabra. What do you think about the sabra?
I haven't tried it actually. Can't find it anywhere where I live. Maybe ask Ryan Bruce (Fluff) he's played both. I would assume that it all depends on what pickup configuration you'd want. A sabre is basically a more modern cutlass.
