I have the SE215's, SE425's and SE535's. The SE215's is an enjoyable IEM that's great for just casual listening. The SE425's are great for critical listening by any musician or vocalist who really want to focus on the upper mids. The SE535's are also great for critical listeners who wants to hear the full range of audio.

I have the SE215 gen 1 wireless. The drivers are still okay but the wireless battery is lacking. So i'm in need of an upgrade. I'm not a musician but I love good sound. Do you think the gen 2 wireless adapter offers better sound compared to the older wireless variant? And if I like the SE215 but would want some better bass what would be the best upgrade? If you know that is. I listen to rock, metal, pop punk, gymcore, metalcore, modern rock mostly, but also techno styles.

To anyone using the SE line, they’re absolutely amazing but a word of caution: for many years, the 535s were my incredibly reliable little workhorses for drumming, DAW work and in-flight entertainment so I honestly never paid attention to how I was taking them out of my ears. I was on a flight one day and all of a sudden, my left monitor snapped in half as I was removing it from my ear. “Surprise pass-through mode” in one ear is not something I’d wish on any SE owner. I was not able to fix it by any means when I returned home. While these IEMs are super tough and reliable, please don’t take that for granted and be mindful of how you handle them. Don’t just rip them out of your ears like I did.

Very informative. Love my Shures! Coming up to 10 years old. I ended up with 215, 535 and 846. And using with 3.5mm, lightning (inbuilt DAC) and aonic Bluetooth hooks. Great audio quality and versatility.

I bought my Shure 215s in 2014 well before wireless headphones became the norm. I packed them away thinking I would never use them again. When affordable lossless audio arrived, I pulled these babies out of inventory and the love-affair is back. Over the course of a year I have spent money finding the best components to support my audio addiction. I have the Apple DACs for my iPhone and iPad but to get the full sonic performance from my 215s I had to purchase a portable DAC with a much stronger amplifier. With the greater power, the 215s 'sing'. The 535s and 846s are steep steps in price. What are your impressions for each as you step up the range?

I've been using se215 over a decade and decide to upgrade to se535, first I bought used but I think the guy crossed me and these are actually from Aliexpress. After that I decided to go for the brand new but I am not satisfied at all, they are nothing like the 215s. The sound is raw and captures exactly what you hear in the room which is great but it just sounds too raw and unpleasant. I tried them on a gig also and the Aliexpress copy sounds much more powerful. I am thinking of getting either Senheiser IE 400 or Audio-Technica ATH 70. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your helpful review. I have had the 425's for 6 years. I decided recently to give the 535's a chance and to compare them against the 425's. I only used them for in ear monitors on stage with a worship band and they have done a decent job. The 425's have a buttery mids and the lows and ends are a little recessed. When listening to music, they sound ok, but not great. The 535's has an extended sound stage over the 425's and you hear the details better in the high's and lows while still having a similar buttery mids that the 425's provide There is clearly more bass with the 535's because the 425 bass is light. With that said, the bass is not big and punchy with the 5335's but balanced sounding. . I decided to keep my 425's as a back up par but the 535's are the way to go without jumping to the expensive 846's. They fit snug in my ear and are comfortable to wear. They will be my last pair of in ears for playing on stage. Just remember to clean the way out of them once in a while. Even with using a Q tip to clean my ears after a shower, wax still gets in the speaker area and they can clog the sound.

Aonic 4 has a sibilance issue all over the place . Only using the white plugs that it comes with will indeed totally solve the problem yet will sacrifice some bass which from the beggining is not abundant . This issue is a big cons of the aonic 4 and should be addressed by shure !!! The Aonic 215 does not have that issue at all and to me the Aonic 215 is a much better price to value proposition and even in absalut values the Aeon 215 is more fun then the Aeon 4 since it has more bass ( and a food bass with sub bass presence) , warmer sound , more airy and fatter vocals / mid range. I think the Aeon 215 is the best buy here. I think anyone that will put on his / her ears the Aonic 215 for the first time will say " WOOOOOOOW" and have a huge smile on his face 😊😊😊 No other company is even close to the the Aonic 215 at its price !!!

Nice video! I own the SE535 for about 12 years now (bought them in 2010 or 2011). The plastic eventually began to crack (about half a year ago), which I was able to fix with some superglue. Never once had any regrets spending that much money on them, because they sound so much better than anything I have listened to before (tried various from 50 to 200 euro before). I'm thinking of saving a bit extra and just going for the SE846 next time, because of the extra driver, and if it lasts you 10+ years, the price tag becomes much easier to justify.

This comment really helps me! Thanks! I've had my SE215 probably for about 6 years and one of the plastic shells fully cracked the other day. Now I've been thinking whether to just try to glue it together or buy a new SE215 or try upgrading to one of the more expensive models. I really like the sound of SE215 and I only use it outdoors since I mainly use AKG headphones at home, so I don't really need perfect sound quality from the earphones because I won't be able to appreciate it as much since I'll always have some outdoors noise mixed in. I was wondering whether the more expensive models aren't made of more durable material, so your comment really helped because now I know that even 535s can eventually crack open.

@@kurapan779 Yeah any plastic will eventually harden and crack. But I find 10-12 years to be quite acceptable. My parents and my fiancée all have the SE215 and are also very happy with it. The main selling point for the higher end versions is really the drivers (and because of that the audio quality). If you like the audio quality of the one's you have now, there is no good reason to spend twice as much for a higher end version probably.

Curious about the wireless monitoring system. I’ve been using a wireless headset for about 4 years now and it’s really hard to let that kind of freedom go. I’ve been wanting to go to something exactly like this without having to rely on plugging into my PC or into my microphone aux port. Can having the wireless monitoring system work well for People like myself who do gaming? This would be a huge Quality of Life improvement if it’s possible. Anyone who can help or has experience with this, your input would be greatly appreciated.

@Gear4musicSynthsTech Год назад
Hey, Theres a few ways you could do this, You could look at using a Bluetooth earphones. Shure have Aonic True Wireless Earphones which can connect to your computer via Bluetooth just like you would for your headphones. The Shure True Wireless Adapters connect to any of these earphones that are mentioned in this video so you have a few options to choose from. If you want wireless earphones for your Gaming/PC set up this is the best option. When you get into "pro Audio" wireless that musicians use on stage things get a bit tricky as those systems tend to use Radio Frequencies and can get interferience from things like Wifi Routers and PC's.

The Shure SE846 IEMS have 4 drivers built into them, this is perfect for giving you clear seperation of freqencies. It helps provide punchy low end as well as a crisp high end without getting muddy or lost in the mix. This can be great for drummers because as a drummer you need to be able to clearly hear everything from your drum kit, to the backing track as well as the click track. They also come with changble sound filters so you can customise how you want the IEMs to sound, you can choose from "balanced, warm, or Bright" Hope this helps

I have a question for you about using the SE215 IEM’s that I just bought with the Fender micro amp that plugs right into my Les Paul. Why is there a constant hissing? Is it the headphones or do you think it would be the micro amp? Do you think the more expensive 535 headphones would have less hissing?
@Gear4musicSynthsTech
@Gear4musicSynthsTech Год назад
Hey, That does sounds a bit strange, I would suggest trying to use some other headphones and see if the issue keeps happening. If the hiss continues with the other headphones, its likely to be the Micro amp. If you are turning the Amp up as loud as it can go, you will likely still hear some hiss no matter how premium or expensive your headphones are. I would recommend trying to work out where the issue is coming from before buying some new headphones.

Hello gear music whenever i call from se 215 connect i cant hear anymore from incoming calls . Do you have any idea for fixing it?
@Gear4musicSynthsTech
@Gear4musicSynthsTech Год назад
Hey, Which Cable are you using ? To be able to Take calls with the SE215s is to use the Shure RMCE-UNI Accessory Cable - This has a Microphone on the cable as well as device to allow you to pause, play and change the volume of your music. This Cable should fix your problem and allow you to take calls with the SE215s The other possible cable is the Shure EAC64CL - This is either a Clear or Black Cable and is just a cable, there is no microphone on the cable and no device that allows you to change the volume of your music, if you are using this cable that is most likely why you can not hear any calls. Hope this helps

No frequency response graph. All models except the se215’s are pretty flat in frequency response. So saying better bass on those other models is kinda misleading to some that dont understand frequencies. Some folks prefer the boosted low end and only the se215 has a boosted low end of around 8db and curves down after the low mids.

The price jump from 425 to 535 is substantial. Think it’s that much better as far as sound quality or is it just one of those things like when the best tv pic looks a spec better than the second best but it is a thousand bucks more.
@Gear4musicSynthsTech
@Gear4musicSynthsTech Год назад
There will be a clear difference when listening to the SE425s vs the SE535s. The SE535s have 3 drivers meaning the seperation of frequencies in the earphones will give you a clearer sound and higher detail. The SE425s have 2 drivers which will still give you fantastic seperation of the frequencies, however you wont get as much detail as you would in the SE535s or the SE846s.
@revelationsoundstudio
@revelationsoundstudio 11 месяцев назад
The 535's are worth the upgrade. Better bass, and detail in the top end. This helps bring a larger sound stage as well. The music on the 425's on the lows and highs are a little recessed while the 535 they are more forward and you hear the details better.

Today I had the opportunity to test these IEMs (transparent version) for the first time. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the very weak bass, or in fact it is inaudible at all :( apart from that, the rest of the sound is kind of muffled, too quiet. I tested it on the phone (via the Fiio KA1 DAC) and through the headphone output of the Creative sound card in the PC.

I have the 535's and i don't like them. They're annoying to put on, uncomfortable in my ear canal, wire is too stiff, barely cancels out any background noise, and almost no bass. I wore them properly, but it feels like they're digging into the side of my ear canal as if the stems were built on the wrong angle. I have old wireless galaxy buds that sound way more balanced and cancels out background noise a lot more.

The Shure SE112s are amazing Earphones, however the SE215s are much closer to the style your looking at with the Tangzu earphones. The SE215s are a musicans choice for a reason, they provide you with crystal clear audio and will last you years of use. The SE215s may be a bit more Expensive than the Tangzu earphones, but they'll likely last much longer and be much better quality because Shure is a brand that musicians all over the world can trust.

SE425s are great for dummers. They have Dual Drivers, meaning that they have incredible sound quality across a huge frequency range. This can give you punchy bass and clear highs. They are sound isolating and back block out 37dB of noise which helps you protect your hearing. Because of their Dual drivers, you can crank up the volume a bit more and they won't distort. Perfect IEMs for drummers.

Depends on what you're trying to play. If you're into competitive FPS where the slightest hint of footsteps are necessary, they should work fine especially with a decent DAC to power them (definitely not your PC's front panel, assuming you also play on PC. I have my SE846 mated to an Ifi Go Link, which is connected to my PC's front Type C USB port for the time being, and it's loud and clear enough for my gaming needs).

The Shure SE Series are great for Musicians because they provide natural clear sound which can reproduce accurate sound and detail across a wide range of frequencies. This is great for musicans so that they can clearly hear what is going on on-stage, also they are isolating and can block any outside noise which protects their ears while onstage. However they are also PERFECT for people who just want some high quality audio in their everyday lives. Shure have a cable called the RMCE-UNI which can be used with devices like laptops and phones, this cable has a mic as well as volume control. OR if you would like to be wireless you can chck out the RMCE-TW2 Wireless Adapter, This turns any SE series earphone wireless, it connects to any laptop or phone with bluetooth, allowing you to take calls, play and pause music. The SE series are great for musicians but they are just as good for people who just want to listen to music because of their amazing sound quality and clear reproduction of sound.
