Would love to see a video on what you think about thin film solar. It is pretty popular in Europe, and in the UK one standing seam roofing company provides metal roof panels with the solar installed. While the power density is lower, thin film seems compelling from both a cost and aesthetics perspectives.

I was going to make the argument you started at 3:40 that when you are making tons of excess electricity, use it to charge your batteries at a high rate (check with battery manufacturer) to 100% and then offload the excess. Efficiency almost doesn't matter. (That is how I have my system set up).

DC coupled batteries are cheaper I guess since they don't need to have a built in inverter

I guess for DC coupled you still have a single point of failure in the central invertor, the optimizers may take care of the shading impact on a panel or loss of a panel I guess

Correct. That’s the downside to a DC coupled system in my opinion as well

@@Superiorsolarconsulting SunRun gave me a quote in Tucson for a 7.77Kw system and Tesla Powerwall. $7.68/W (battery included). That's like 1.7-2x as most other quotes I'm seeing. I'm guessing they are really PPA only focused
