I didn't finish the episode yet, so maybe they go over it... But off the top of my head i would imagine "gymnastics" must be in the conversation for most athletic. This is a fun episode!
This idea that tall nba players could be nfl players is complete delusion. Wver seen clips of LeBron in pads? Dude is moving in slow motion. Being fast on a basketball court isn't the same as being fast on bball court. Football fast is a lot faster than nba fast.
You could probably use the average player salary, which basketball is the highest, and checks with Marks opinion. Baseball is probably only higher earning than football because of the amount of games and longevity of career.
I think the definition of athletic probably gets shifted a little too much to remarkable power and neglects say endurance. Is Kipchoge not an amazing athlete?
I know you lumped Action Sports into one category, but where would you rank pro Wakeboarders? These guys are absolutely insane with their abilities and are crazy athletic. Let me know what tier you’d put Wakeboarders.
Money is only relative to the country that can provide that for that sport, nfl = money in America, rugby takes that place in other countries, Australia, nz, South Africa, France, England etc, so the talent n athletes would go to that
You guys should checkout the old CBS Superstars competition where they had athletes of different sports compete. Some freak athletes like OJ, Hershel Walker, Terrell Owens and Reggie White competed. Everyone knows the NBA and NFL is full of freak athletes given the money and popularity. RU-vid won't let me post the link to the results archive, but the biggest susprise were pro skiers. Jonny Moseley ran a faster half mile than Jason Seahorn and Tiki Barber, and Jeremy Bloom ran a 9.4 100 yard dash for instance.
That's not too surprising. Lidnsey Vonn could squat 3 plates I think, and the men look like they squat near 500 naturally. It looks like the boxers all had poor showings.
The title doesn't match the actual discussion. Are you asking who has the best athletes or who has the freakiest genetics. 2 totally different things. If it's what the title suggest just based solely on freak .0001% genetics then body building is going to be very near the top on this list. If it's athleticism based then it'll be near bottom. To be top a body builder you have to be more blessed with genetics than a top football player. Because it is a skilled sport...
Genetics is a bs term that should only apply to height/wingspan. Everyone has the capacity to be world-class or close to it with hard work, dedication or some special sauce.
