True, but I think it would've gotten 4th anyway. 3rd at best. It may beat out the U wing, but the HMP and LAAT are easily superior.

Maybe if they used Lambda in this list, it would get into 3rd. It's still armed, though not as heavily armed as a proper gunship, but it said it's sturdy as hell. Even doesn't have overall fire-power, it's laser cannons are still good and spread out around the ship. Lambda-class shuttle after all are used by high ranking officials too, so it's defensive capabilities must be really good. Not to mention that still Empire have proper gunships such as Ye-4 Gunship. The problem is that on movies, we never really saw the Empire using other gunships at all. Only the Lambda-class shuttle which is mostly used by high ranking officials or special forces instead. Even on TV series such as on Rebels I think, except for one that on this list, which is not really a military-grade and not design on mind to be used for proper military.

Technological advancement is kind of a loose term in Star Wars when all the technology seems to be pretty stagnant for thousands of years. Things seem to simply get bigger with more guns. The CIS has the most impressively varied and adaptive collection of vehicles I've ever seen. The fact that they're droids means they don't require lengthy training and are relatively easy to replace. Give a few of those units enhanced AI and equipment like an ace droid starfighter and they could devastate nearly any opponent.

He usually does lower their rank though. Simply due to his bias towards organics.

U wing is one of the best here.

Just because it can travel to other systems by itself doesn't mean it's a good dropship. Besides, it usually goes places within a larger ship unless the mission calls for stealth.

Matthias haveing a ftl means you can deploy beyond the range of a planets weapons and sensors. Or jump with your fleet greatly expanding your speed and surprise factor

@@clone9159 Are you sure? They have shields, many weapons, and they can carry 75 troops, 12 E-webs and 6 speeder bikes. They can also carry 2 AT-ST's or very many speeders. (I don't remember how many.) It can also carry other small vehicles. It's speed was between tie-fighter and tie-bomber. It had also better faster lightspeed than imperial star destroyer. Only weapon it didn't have was turret at the back. It also took 4 humans to fly and use the weapons. But still, I think it's better than police gunship.

If. You play empire at war and deploy at st and stormtroopers or a heavier vehicle you get 2 different types of lambdas

They were used in rebels a lot and in it hera syndulla said when stuck planet side in it that shields were weak, it was slow, and only 2 laser turrets. But it was meant to be a cargo version, not a dropship

@@darwinxavier3516 well yea since the belly of the ship is dedicated for (configurable) transport capabilities. it makes even more sense when considering where the majority of encountered fire would come from. its a dropship so most fire would be AA fire from the ground so having the tropp department between the incoming fire and the tech means extra layers of armor for it (at the expense of the cargo but we all know that the GAR didnt give a sh*t about their troopers...)

Mr Kric I think the droid one does. I may be wrong but there was one episode of Clone Wars where droids invaded a transport ship with the dutchess of mandalor on it. It seemed to me those ships came out of nowhere so i am assuming they came out of hyperspace.

Sam Mabie those are not the same dropships eck talked about. These ships you refer to where used to break escape pods in one episode of the clone wars (S1E2) so i am not sure if they are actual dropships.

I watched that scene again. It was clearly the same gunship. And it came really fast. But super battle droids with jets fly around that. So it can't came out of hyperspace at that moment. But the scanners couldn't find it before the ships wanted to jumo into hyperspace. Very difficult to tell

Emperor Demon - the FO Drop ship? Hummmmmm... well it isn't big in the Armament department, only really having that top mounted gun for clearing the landing zone/suppressing fire. Decent troop capacity, especially if you consider it to the ships overall volume(it's basically a flying box full of Stormtroopers), I would put it between the LAAT and the imperial -riot chopper- dropship.

U wing is trash compared to the LAAT.

In the Attack of the Clone novel it mentioned shields on the LAAT/i, but we never saw them in a movie or TV series. On the other hand in about 90% of all Venator-class battle scenes we did not see shields either.

I loved the republic dropships in landing point rain. Great episode great ships.

+dwayne collignon, actually if you watch the LAAT drops troops off faster than the HMP because as soon as the LAAT is like 1 meter off the ground clones just jump out and it takes off again in like 5 seconds while the HMP has to unload droids 2 by 2.

Why would you want people on and HMP if your army is a Droid Army? And the LAAT can carry extremely small gadgets.

@@Lego_Chewbacca Gunship is slang name of specialized attack crafts and assault transports. Both LAAT and HMP are heavily armed and designed to transport ground forces. They are gunships. Sentinel was heavy transport, what usually is not the case with gunships. Though it is relatively heavy armed for such large transport. So after rethinking it, I would say that it could be considered as gunship, but I wouldn't really use it that way. You don't put too many eggs in one basket under heavy fire.

The HMP beats simply not only for its nice armament but also low cost and easily modified for other types for transport also an AI is controling it so it opens to much more manouvering
