@@valkyrrrr I mean it really depends on the champ and lane, I would say it's definitely still viable as a sustain item on a mage mid since dorans ring got moved to an harass item but tbh mid is a little weird since almost very start item goes in some scenario

@@valkyrrrr I wasn't talking about mana sustain though but i really don't know it also seems to come down to preference I am running dorans ring most of the time but I could see somebody running corrupting against someone that is not gonna all in them but pokes them quite often and i guess they have to also not loose the match up entirely since then they would just buy dorans shield. I guess it's kind of niche but I think it's too confusing in mid anyways since none of the starting items have a clear identity for mages a lot of times

Spear, usually you will see corrupting pot on champions that use grasp of undyne so whenever they trade they can proc the dot dmg from the pot and keep refreshing the rune to keep trading with their opponent, GP is a prime example since he can also keep refreshing it with his barrels and passive and constantly proc grasp of undyne if he isn't playing first strike with his Q.
Longsword into easier lanes so you can't get heavily punished for the lack of hp and small sustain you get from Dorans. Longsword definitely let's you snowball faster
I would always build longsword + refills but every high elo coach would talk trash about me doing it saying how I should build doran's blade instead but lmao they were so wrong. I don't see any high challenger build doran's blade.

I think that's because you died to a burn, since you are untargetable not invulnerable, but the animation still has to go through, even if you are already dead. That's my theory at least
