Karlsson has had a great year and his underlying numbers are good plus minus is rough but he has also been on the ice for 17 empty net goals against which counts as a minus so really he would be a minus 6 without that statline

There should definitely be two awards for offensive and defensive defencemen, but since there's only one right now, I say yeah give it to Karlsson. He didn't just get the most points of all defencemen. He did something that no one else has done in 30 years (get 100 points as a d) on a team that is god awful and would've finished last in the league if they tanked in regulation a little better.

Hampus Lindholm has been the best overall defenseman that didn’t miss a handful of games. That being said Karls season from an offensive production has been pretty insane

Karlssom will probably win because of his offensive production but he’s pretty much a 4th forward more than a defenseman imo. 🥬 is still the best defenseman in the league but he missed so much time and if I had a vote it would be between Lindholm and Fox. Josi had the most point (96) of all defenseman last year and didn’t win so I’m still holding out hope
