I want to hear more specifics about why the Eagles are losing the contested ball so often. Is it skill with fumbles, or courage not wanting the hard ball and fumbling when you get it... or lack of focus. or structure... Who is letting them down in the clinches. Are they better off going for skill and class like Kelly and Sheed? or hardness and toughness. What works? Or big bodies. Yeo should be back soon. I'd like a bit more understanding of what's going on. But also for the general footy fans it would be good to go through what successful sides need to win the contested ball.

Gerard tried to explain it but King had no idea what he was talking about. In previous years Kossie would have got a fine because of outcome.
They need better defenders and more structured, modern approach towards defending more than anything else. They simply cannot defend well enough which is the fundamental reason why they keep getting stuffed in the Finals and will remain Pretenders until it is addressed.

I’m not sure in Pickett’s case he was going for the head. He actually got his shoulder, head rocked from collision. Didn’t get low enough for sure, hence suspension, but he wasn’t targeting the head. Not sure how buddy got less, his looked like direct head contact, intentional , med-high.

They’ve been the real deal for almost 12 months now, probably since they spanked Melbourne on Queens bday. Watching them live is when you get the true picture of how good they really are.
