Really useful video. I have Logic Pro already but was looking for another different kind of DAW and had a copy of Ableton Lite from a MIDI keyboard purchase which I’ve been tinkering with. Lots of tutorials are based around Ableton so I wanted to know which version of it I should upgrade to in order to get the best out of them. Suite looks really good but is too expensive and duplicates things I already have in Logic Pro. Intro is too expensive given its limitations and isn’t a big enough step up from Lite in my opinion. So Standard seems the way to go - just wish it had more instruments for the price (which even with my upgrade discount is more expensive than the full Logic Pro price). Again thanks for this video for helping me make up my mind.

Really appreciate your videos! Please do more Psy-FX etc. with native Ableton Plugins only. I am just starting with production with no background knowledge about synths and stuff and got the feeling that learning Ableton well will help way more in terms of the general understanding of sounddesign and production than using a different VST for every other effect/sound. With Ableton Intro, how many sends and returns within the drum rack? Does the 2 sends and returns apply only to the mixer or to the drum rack too? Any help appreciated.

people! I need help, i tried to export my audio tracks and send it to my producer but after i import it back to a new live set all trucks are not in the right places and the speed is not same as i record too, plz if somebody knows how to export tracks right let me know!!!

which one would you get if you were doing live looping? Intro or standard? I have lite but lite doesn't include the loop pedal.

So after this video best thing to do as an amateur is to buy standard version because suite is way to pricy and im not experienced enough yet. So standard and your videos should help me a lot, thank you!

Suite just gives you more device's. All the editing features are the same. I'd pay a bit more , if you can and get Suite. Max4live and Wavetable are well worth it.

True! I just got Ableton 11 Suite only because Im finishing my (biology) degree in two months and Reddit told me to use the discount while I can :D The fact that I can later upgrade my EDU license to "normal" license for the same price as everyone else once Ableton 12 comes out made it a no brainer :) (although thiis information was a bit difficult to find). And I like that I really dont have to look for any extra plugins and effects or anything else since anything I could possibly want or need at the stage I'm at is already there

Hey Man, stumbled across your channel. I am still a beginner. I got the standard due to the budget. I was following your "beginner videos" and hit a wall with operator. Do you have any recommendations for plugins that serve the same purpose to bring the standard up to a bit more parity with suite? If anybody else has suggestions that would be grand as well.

I'm pretty new to music production and have been using Ableton's 90-day free trial of Suite (my first ever experience with a DAW), and am loving it! Because I'm currently in school, I'm eligible for the student discount of both Standard and Suite , and I'm kind of torn between which one to go for. Even though I make music as a hobby (at this point in my life), I'm concerned that if I just settle for buying Standard right now and I happen to get more serious with my music later on, I'll be kicking my self cause I blew my opportunity to get Suite back when I was eligible for that 40% student discount lol

Get suite if you can. I guarantee you'll want operator, simpler, etc.

yes.. log in on their web site if you have Ableton registered and when you go to the shop page your upgrade option will be there automatically.. I only have the lite right now.. (I run on FL fully loaded) and haven't gotten used to Ableton yet

Sadly Ableton doesn't really offer any support unless you are a certified trainer.

Don't think you need a particularly powerful PC for Ableton. I have a decent 800 dollar PC (1.5 years old) and it's running great

Wish the standard version had more instruments included, doesn't seem like enough for 188 to jump up from lite. But then 335 for suite upgrade is a lot of money to just mess around on it. Are there any ways to get more instruments without having to buy suite ?

You can but they're around a 100 each (operator, etc) so if you want standard plus 2 or 3 instruments; you're better getting suite. Ps. If you recieved lite in a pack; UPGRADE it. Dont buy it new. It'll save you a hundred bux.

I have Ableton Live 10 Lite because I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB interface. It doesn't indicate I can upgrade to Live 10 Intro, only to Live 10 Standard or to Live 10 Suite (351 CAD and 623 CAD, supposedly a 20% discount and it includes free upgrade to Live 11). So not sure if that means Ableton Live 10 Lite is the same as Intro but free / provided with hardware purchase or what.

HIIIIIIIIII, hey Im desperate to not screw this up, I want to upgrade to Suite, Im terrified to lose my saved sets and songs when switching, i screwed up somehow when i upgraded from 9 to 10 and lost everything

Ableton Live is music production software. For simple DJ'ing, I recommend DJ software...Serato is an option; Mixxx is a good, free option

Unfortunately I can only use the lite version of ableton 9 at the moment. I'm already looking forward to the upgrade, hopefully it will not be long until then

Lite comes with devices for free and it only has 8 audio and midi tracks combined

you can only have 16 total midi and/or scene tracks -- you can only have 8 in lite

Only use Ableton Standard for last mile type of work. If you have other DAWs, a MPC, synths, and VSTs, standard is more than enough. Anything less doesn’t have enough tracks.

Ableton Live intro for 139 is a waste of money,Reaper is the daw to get,amazing daw and only 60 bucks.

Reaper is good but not as good as Ableton for midi editing. Also the effects and instruments in Ableton in my honest opinion are better than Reaper. I find my mixdowns sound better. I still do some stuff in Reaper as I have a ton of VSTs.
