I walk a part of the Camino de Santiago last year and found that Merrell Moab 2's were excellent in that type of terrain (hills, and level walking). I plan on finishing it this year (April/May) and have picked up a new pair of Merrell Moab 2's with gore tex along with my original pair I used before.
