Excellent video and a great challenge. A little constructive criticism: As your trains left at slightly different times, you both possibly should have had your own stopwatches, not just Daniel, and started the timers the second the doors closed when you left Edgware Road. This would have given you a fairer result. Apart from that, brilliant stuff guys!

I was the guy who proudly joined Hugh by coincidence whilst on my way to Oxford (I was on the Circle Line between Victoria and Paddington). It's been lovely meeting you and I hope to see you again eventually - maybe we can all do a vlog together 😊

There are factors to include, ie CBTC (ATO) and congestion alongside the time of day, delays and patterns. But the effort is of course valued!

I walked around the Circle Line in December. It took me 5hrs 32minutes, and I went clockwise.

Oh Wow such fun...... what was the cost at the end?... i apple pay at each station barrier, my biggest charge so far, was Kings Cross to south Kensington - just under a Tenner.

Yes, I think you ought to have started timing each train when they actually departed . Then you’d see Which Is faster. As an aside, have tried the London Overground “Circle “ from Clapham Junction to Clapham Junction. I’ve done the circuit but not timed each way (yet)

If both trains departed in exactly the same minute, who would’ve won it then?

Be interesting to see if both trains had clear runs. Docent happen often.

@@johnrafferty8087 In my experience longer wait times are designed in the timetable at stations before crossover junctions, to keep the Circle Line reliable.

Very nicely done! Who fancies a race around the Overground now? 😉

Epic race, although to be fair, Hugh got a 4 minute head start

Visiting EVERY STATION ... on the Circle line?

We still don't know which way is faster, the video does not answer it's title question. We heard that Hugh got a 4 minute head start, but we did not hear how much earlier he was back. Why didn't you use stopwatches? Seriously. You also missed one possible reason the circle sometimes waits at stations: Beeing ahead of the schedule. AFAIK that's the typical reason for "delays" in Aldgate, the only place where a circle train can wait for the schedule to catch up without blocking any other line.

If I recall correctly, Hugh was 7 minutes faster upon return. Thanks for the constructive criticism, and in hindsight it could have been better if we’d waited for two trains leaving in opposite directions simultaneously. ~ Daniel
