This is the reason I sold my mt10 and bought the new mt09. Such a good daily and plenty of useable punch for the road. Love how fuel efficient it is also, seriously like 40% better fuel economy than my mt10.

The bikes are known for speed wobbles after 110mph serious wobbles, check in forums everyone's talking about it... yamaha should of recalled them, they aint safe. 3. The suspension is 💩 front and back On the good side i love the engine and im seriously thinking of getting the r9 when it comes out

I've had my 2020 MT09 since new off the showroom floor. It has a few tasteful mods/upgrades and I absolutely love it. Perfect for commuting, a lot of power, more than you'd ever need for the street (in the past I owned several suberbikes). The MT09 is amazing on fuel (5.6L/100kms even when gunning it everywhere, gotten as low as 4.6L/100kms). In my ice fluo colour scheme she turns heads everywhere I go, and the sound is just a true Yamaha symphony, especially with the full Akrapovik exhaust and factory quick shifter.

The way you put it you are right. But maybe not so much 😊 I owned a 2022 MT-09 SP and tuned it to 123whp. Very powerful very enjoyable in the canyon, and on mode 2 very pleasant city riding. Now I am riding a 2023 MT-10 fully tuned with 169whp, FKR 102 Ohlins front, TTX 36 GP Ohlins at the rear. Brakes are not worst than the rest of the big bikes withe exception of the expensive Ducati. Though the suspension I have is much better than any of them. Honesty in the canyons there is NOTHING to catch this monster!! Especially when there are short to middle straights and a lot of twisty roads. Yes cost me the same as an aprilia tuono factory, but my setup is lights ahead of them...

Been riding race bikes( race dirt bikes) for a good amount of years now and went on the streets on my buddies bike last summer. Wanna get my first bike as an mt09sp or a mt07. I’ve been told equally to get either one. I’m comfortable on bikes but I’m torn between which one. I’m a bigger guy hence ppl recommending the 09sp for suspension and that extra bit of power. What’s your opinion and do you think I would want more after a short period of time with the mt07, thank you!

Nice movie. thnx! I do agree! I ride a 2022 09SP and I just love it. It's my second MT09, before the SP I owned a 2020 MT09. The 2022 is definitely better; faster cornering and better feeling in the front, but it's not easy to get the suspension right. The recommended fabric suspension adjustments are a bit too hard for the road, especially the front. And if you ride it with 2, you need to adjust again... The secret is to find the good compromise... Also, my previous bike, the MT09 2020, was more 'easy' to ride. Less feeling in the corners, but also less aggressive and more forgiving, especially at high speed. A steer damper on the 2022 SP is not an unnecessary option to get the same 'safe' feeling' at high speed. But what an amazing bike! It makes me smile every time I ride it....

I’ve got the 07. I’ve got a Ti exhaust, k-tech suspension and a mild ecu tuneup to smooth her out. 70bhp is plenty for me. Disadvantages: crap seat, throttle travel too long (R6 tube fixes it when I get round to it someday) and the tank shape funnels cold air over the gonads, requiring insulation via a hat down the trousers. Everything else with the bike is spot on, it’s a very good little machine.

Love my mt10. Switched from fz07 and will never go back. The gas milage doesn’t mean much to me because I ride it for max 5 months of the year. Only on the weekend most of the time. The weight makes highway speeds very manageable. The power makes adding a passenger so enjoyable because the power is still there. The sound of the cp4 with no cat and a tune. Ughhhhh. So good.

I really like my 2022 MT-09. Only wish the pegs were adjustable farther foward for my build. I feel a little cramped in my knees. One of my all time favorite bike was my Yamaha 2005 FZ1. The 5 valve engine was marvelous throughout the rev range. And the suspension could handle rough roads at a good clip. But the number one thing I liked was the styling and the ergonomics. More upright like its UJM liter bike heritage. I would buy the a MT-10 tomorrow if it was just like my beloved FZ1 2005 with the latest upgrades. Perhaps my age is showing. I spent the 80's on UJM standard liter bikes. Comfortable, lots of Torque. Handling wasn't great but we thought it was. The latest remake of the 1982 Katana is close but not as refined. Cheers

My first bike was an '18 mt07. Traded it back into the dealer 2mo later for an '18 mt09. Did almost every upgrade to the 09 you could at the time, full exhaust, front and rear suspension, ecu flash, bunch of cosmetics, etc. Rode the mt09 for 4yr, sold it, then picked up a '22 mt10. Looking back I should have started on the mt09 based on previous experience riding dirt bikes. I really enjoyed the mt09 for what it was, but i was craving more. The gen2 was really behind in electronics, and quality components compared to kawasaki, triump, and ktm at the time. I really like the mt10 for the power, ergonomics, electronics, and sound. I may have considered another mt09, but to me they look like rubbish now. My current riding consists of country roads and highway and the mt10 handles them the best imo. If Yamaha ever decides to overhaul the look of the mt09, I may be interested, but currently i just don't vibe with the gen3 or gen4.

in 2020 I road tested the MT10, awesome bike but I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground, and was concerned for my licence, I also tested the Tracer 900GT at the same time (as I wanted a bike for a bit of touring too) , which really was fast enough on the road, but more engaging to ride, with that great triple sound and as it was also on a discount it was a no brainer.'Also thought build quality was better on The Tracer/MT09. I have since had a full arrow system fitted and a remap, and is goes and sounds great. Must be a triple thing for me as I also loved my Triumph Speed Triple... It keeps up with my mates bigger 1000cc plus superbikes when we ride down to Spain through France each year (avoiding motorways), plus it has the added advantage of tank range (and fitted panniers for the trip). One of the lads has an MT10 and he is always worried about running out of fuel (Empty 10 🙂). I have also ridden the MT07, which was fun too. I also had a go on an MT09 SP when mine was in for service, I really loved the down shifter/Blipper, the only thing that I wish mine had fitted. The MT07 would be my pick, but it needs a set of more aggressive camshafts, Yamaha shortchanged it in that department. You can pick up close to 10rwhp from cams and a thinner headgasket, and get the hp into the mid 80's at the wheel which IMO with slightly stiffer fork damping is right where it should be. mid 80's-100rwhp is the fun zone in my opinion for a reasonable road going bike. It's fast enough to have fun, but not so fast that you feel the need to go triple digits everywhere to get a feel for it.

A little more detail on the MT-09 vs MT-07: Quick shifter is up and down and comes as standard. Drive modes as standard (1 to 4) Rider aids has a customise mode (M) You have to go for the SP to get upgraded suspension and cruise control. I use my MT-09 to commute from city center to city center along the motorway and day trips at the weekends. Great bike

Have the 22' SP here in the states. Wonderful bike with the external rear preload/compression adjustments and easy to access rebound at the back of the rear shock/spring. Cruise Control is great for when I'm on the highway(motorway) out here when travelling more than 10 miles(16 km) out. Plus being 6' tall I felt somewhat cramped on the MT-07.

Im taking my DAS next year and once ive passed im hoping to get me an MT09, lots of riders say the thing is with bikes is you soon get used to a bikes power and how it handles. and so boredom can kick in quite quickly leaving you wanting more, so this got me thinking why bother with the MT07 ? just go straight for the MT09 which aswell as more power is also more comfortable to sit on, i think the MT10 will be just that bit too much for a 1st bike.

I owned a FJ 09 Yamaha. The engine is great, and it's a very good bike. But I almost list it on the highway one day as it went into a wobble. It also has a very stiff ride. You get bounced around a lot by the bumps, which is why I sold it.

I bought a 2023 MT10SP... but I test rode the XSR900 (didn't have an MT09 demo). To be honest, if I wasn't so set on the electronic Ohlins, the XSR/MT09 is absolutely the best bang for buck bike on the market. It was heaps of fun and, if I'm completely honest, I probably felt a little more confident pushing the XSR closer to the edge of its performance capability. They had a really good discount on the MT10 I bought, but if I were paying full retail, it would be MT09 every day of the week. I rode the Gen1 MT09 back in the day and felt at the time the Triumph STR was a better bike, but having ridden the latest Gen XSR, all the quibbles I had with the bike back then have been fixed.

I went for MT-10. Apart of the fuel consumption (8-10L/100km in city) and heating a lot in the traffic jam on hot days, I don't have any problem with that. And you have "unlimited" power.

MT-07 is just pure fun. Feels like a big supermoto. It’s raw and torquey. It won’t scare you. It’s fun to toss around. It’s an amazing stunt bike. Can’t say the same about the other two. They’re just faster and a lot of bike to handle. They just don’t have the same “fun factor” the 07 has. Also, imo, the CP2 sounds the best. The CP3 screams up top. And the R1 engine is obviously amazing. But that CP2 from idle to just rompin on it will never get old.

I'm pretty sure many of us would love to see a middleweight shootout between the MT-09, Street Triple R, Duke 890, Kawasaki Z900, Tuono 660, Ducati Monster, CB750 Hornet & GSX-8S. (yes ik hornet and gsx are ranked lower on the spec sheets, but they haven't released a 100hp+ middleweight in quite a while) Please make it happen!!

I tried my friend's MT07 and overall is a good bike, very light and easy to ride. Kind of felt a little underpowered specially going up a hill I really had to push it a little more yet my mt09 really has a nice torque feel, I did upgrade the suspension it felt clumsy on bumps. For beginners MT07, for beginners and experience riders Mt09, the MT10 is nice but I rather get the R1 version instead of a naked bike for such a big engine.

But the R1 is a Sports bike out and out, so nothing like the MT10 to ride. Why is it a big engine, it's 998cc. It's actually very compact for 160 odd bhp.

I find my MT09 a little heavy on the wrists, but that’s because I’m old. Came to this from a 600 Bandit. Don’t see the point of the MT10 as even the 07 has more power than you should responsibly use on UK roads…but lol to that. In mode 4 its barely as quick as my Cupra. In mode 1 it’s 911 turbo s (nearly) quick. Light enough to split through traffic. Fast enough to scare the bejesus out of you. What more could you want? Oh yeah, better weather. Love my MT09.

The whole line up is great if anyone threw me the keys to any each iteration of the MT i would be happy. What most people dont realise though is the difference between the r1 and the mt10 is the engine is the same but the gear box ratios are different so the mt10 tops out sooner despite sprocket changes etc but not that imagine people would be maxing out their bikes on the road its always just nice to know😅
