I will never complain about the chore of changing strings and re-tuning my 6 string guitar ever again. Good Lord the thought of doing that to a lute feels like repainting the house. Beautiful performance of a beautiful song, thank you for sharing and keeping the lute alive
@@danbluedeer While the purists may complain, the act of playing contemporary tunes on such instruments is a good way to spark interest. If people are not interested, the instrument will just "lay in the corner".

If something is really worth saving it will be carried throughout the centuries. Then there are stuff that was very likable but didn't become memorable enough to keep going so people only get to know the history of it instead instead of seeing or hearing it for the first time. Just glad to see & hear a lot of the really old classical instruments have survived time. Very memorable thank you.

Hello! Just looking at the lute and listening to the sounds can be captivating. So also for the guitar. With this piece you have appreciated besides what you have said in your replies, is the arrangement of the piece; like an orchestra. You have done a good job and I think there could be an arranger in you! You could be forgiven for not using the other stings as guitars and lutes have built in spreading of harmony. I can say this because I am as old as the hills. Hope your musical interests compensate for the harsh realities if life! Thanks for the video.

I have a Bard named Procol Harum who has long since retired and runs a tavern. He regularly has music like this playing when the new generation of PCs wander in.

All the "new" multi-string electric guitars are lute inspired. Take a look on RU-vid at 18 string electric guitars. "What was shall be again, for there is nothing new under the sun".
I also found this guy's channel after reading about Kvothe playing his Lute in Name of the Wind. Such an incredible story, and this guy is such an incredible musician. I love it when art helps me discover more art.
I have been playing for over 50 years and greatly appreciate what it must take to master such an instrument. I don't how I would ever start to tune that instrument. I'd like try though. God bless you brother.

Here is yet another example of the joy the Beatles' music has brought, and is continuing to bring to all of us in so many varied, masterful and innovative renderings. Bravo!
I love this for so many reasons. Of course, the playing is beautiful, the articulation is perfect, and the arrangement is stunningly true to the original with nuanced adjustments made to the melody to better suit the instrument. But even beyond that, I think this showcases the universality of truly great music. Who cares what instrument it's being played on? The style matters not -- classic melodies are classic melodies, regardless of instrumentation or style, and this showcases that the greatest songwriters of all-time, from Harrison to Simon to Dylan to Young, have a special magic to their tunes that allow them to go beyond their original recording. Just like the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Haydn, and others, I think the Beatles (and, in particular, George's contributions) will live forever more because of the simplistic and infectious nature of their composition. @@danbluedeer Yes, of course the Spanish would claim that. The classical/flamenco guitar was developed by the Spanish - but where did they get their oriental sounds, scales? India, Turkey, Israel. The Oud probably came first and the Lute after (3,000 years plus) fretted by gut string tied around the neck for variable tuning - amazing idea - which is where the Sitar idea comes from. Sitar, of course, is the common instrument of India, but many others one which the sitar was based on. The Spanish Vihuela was developed only 500 years ago, from which many parlour guitars were based on. I am glad of the likes of men like Torres who took into into other realms. But the Lute and the way you express it is always going to have a place in my heart. I love listening to Julian Bream playing it.
