'Concert for George' was such an eye-opener - if anyone needed it - to the sheer quality and quantity of great music George created in his lifetime. And it was no lazy, insufficiently rehearsed indulgence, as get-togethers by a bunch of big stars can often be... The whole concert was an absolute delight, each song given a top-notch treatment by one of the musicians George was closest to in his lifetime, with wonderful backing from the assembled 'supergroup'... You could just feel the love in the air, as they all gave of their best in memory of their dear friend. It was hard not to cry, but it was hard not to smile, too, the whole way through. Really, you could listen to any of the songs from this concert and not be disappointed. Or better still, do the whole thing, or at least the rock music section (the Indian music part was wonderful too, but could be a separate listening session. :-)

I LOVE RINGO'S JACKET!!! I would WEAR IT! OH, ALSO there is GARY BROOKER from Procal Harum (A Whiter Shade of Pale, which you have reacted to) on the piano on the left side on the other side of the stage from Paul's piano. He has white hair....he's deceased now too, sadly, just recently. I have thought many times that it must be hard for Olivia looking at her son because he DOES look so much like his dad. It's eerie, he is a carbon copy of his Dad for sure.

Isn't it wild how much George's son is like him. I agree with you, I watched the one with Prince and Tom Petty and ELO singer Jeff Lynn and they also let George's son play in that line up and Prince did amazing job. It is another version/ honor ceremony where they did this song, much worth the personal watch as I think Prince equalled Clapton's performance. I so agree about the son. Blessings as always.

@@EaterOfBaconSandwiches Ditto !!!!!! I hear so many people raving about Prince's solo at the RRHF but I much prefer this Clapton version. Much more in keeping with the mood of the song. No self-indulgent pyrotechnics and guitar-throwing. "High-octane thrash" captures Prince's butchery of the song very well. It's not just about technical virtuosity.

@patticrichton1135 2 года назад
Harri, you are the ONLY reactor who has seen this that even RECOGNIZED Dhani up there, they didn't even ask who that was. That really floored me! Towards the end of the concert, Paul interrupts one of the players who was speaking and said that " Olivia (George's wife and mom to Dhani) said that (referring to Dhani) it looked like George stayed young and we all got old." I was thinking the same thing when this concert was broadcast on TV. Dhani was 24 during this concert. He was born Aug 1, 1978. This concert was held on the first anniversary of George's death (Nov 29, 2001) concert on 2002.

Buy the video CONCERT FOR GEORGE, it's amazing. They did every song by George. The first part of the concert was all Indian music, at least 30 minutes, maybe more . Ravi Shankar was in charge of the Indian musicians and Eric Clapton was the musical director for the George music part. Youll see behind the scenes and the ending of the show will hit that soft spot youve got inside . If you watch it on the internet you wont get all the extras that come with the video, so BUY THE VIDEO ! I won't tell you why. You get the video and watch it all the way thru . Youre going to love it. Dhani (his name comes from the Indian octave scale : saa, re.ga.ma, pa, dha, ni ) looks so much like George when he was in India, learning sitar from Ravi , He had cut his hair and it made him look so young, like Dhani looks here .

Dhani Harrison is a little spicier than his father, since he's half Mexican. He looks so much like his father, those are some strong genes! I am also Mexican on my mother's side (for me that means Mayan and Spanish), on my father's side I'm mostly German, also a little Russian and English. I just look ambiguously ethnic. If I go to a Greek restaurant they speak Greek to me, if I go to a Portuguese restaurant, they speak Portuguese, Italians speak Italian to me, and once in a while people think that I might be Middle Eastern. But Mexicans seem to know that I'm Mexican, but sometimes (not very often) they have to ask.
