It seemed good, for a change, to watch a murder mystery, with some comedy added to it, vs serious serious all the time, to help 'loosen' you up. Made it much more enjoyable to sit back, relax, and watch a good, very well written and acted out film.
WOW!!!!!! These are films that they showed on TV back in the late 1940s early 1950s. Never got a good look at the actor cuz you couldn't see their faces. This was back in the day when every town had a movie theater - entry for 20cents for us kids anyway. When someone missed the feature film at the local movie house, they'd say "I'll wait 20 yrs and see it on television."Man how things have changed!
The difference between then and now: They made films with good scripts, actors and directors, all under 90 mins. Today's filmmakers would take the same script, stretch it out to over 3 hours and bore everyone to tears.
It's a shame to hear about those thugs who grab you out of your home and take you at gunpoint to the local cineplex to watch a boring film. The fiends! How about this, check if there's a small indie film cinema in your neighborhood. There are plenty of great films of all types, without wizards, or superheroes or explosions. You're welcome.
@@laradavenport903 I was not stating that older films were ALWAYS great and NONE of the films today are. I am merely stating that today's films don't need to be over 3 hours.
MANY years ago - back in the 60s, I think - I was at a theater and they started a 'movie' (not the one I came to see) beginning with a car chase. The chase went on and on for a while, then it just ended. There was no story, just a car chase with opening credits.
A number of good actors were in this movie who weren't listed: Sidney Blackmer, Rochester, William Demerest, the man who played the piano, and the man who played Marco/the prankster (I can't recall their names).
Ever notice that the cars are always nice models and in excellent shape, and that there is no traffic jam anywhere, no matter which city you're in? And there's always a place to park right by where you're going?
He was the Swiss army knife of "ethnic" actors; Italian, Spanish, Mexican, Brazilian, and also a fast talking, big city cop! He also made great use of a scar on his face, (typically concealed), when he played gangsters and tough guys. I have been half way through a movie, before I recognized he was in it, due to the variety of mannerisms, accent, and inflections. The ultimate character actor!
A funny Sunday morning romp!!! All dressed up as a murder mystery movie, with gangsters, girls, singing n dancing n some silly vaudeville humour to boot!!!
Look up "Time out for Murder". Only need "Inside Story" to be posted and we would have all 3. Callahan movies. Also look up " The Mysterious Miss X" different characters but same actors.
Hello! I was wondering if you could help me find a film that I really want to see, but I can't seem to find anywhere. It's called No One Man (1932) starring Carole Lombard. Is there any way that you could upload a copy, or do you know someone that could? Thank you.
Joe's Cafe. A Cafe had dance girls? Anyway, I noticed the dancers' dance practice outfits, which were Teenagers' everyday Clothes, for school, in the Early 1970's!!! P.S. My Mom was Only 2 yrs old, when this movie was made!
None of it was 'racist' back then, simply the way it was. 'Racism' is a term used by those who wish to supplant the existing order and practice a form of 'racism' themselves. **EVERYONE is a 'racist'.
@@leelarson107 If everyone is a racist, then how was it *not* racist in 1938? Or was that a poor attempt at sarcasm? There was racism in these films. Some, reasonably benign racism like this, can be accepted, but not ignored. Egregious racism like in Gone with the Wind has to be called out and exposed. (Nobody said cancelled, before you start shedding tears).
