I started making candles last September and I've really been itching to try gel wax.. I came looking for info on wick types for gel and found your video. It was quite delightful to watch and I got the answer I was looking for. I'm definitely going to give your website a glance for sure!
Hey when I make some gel wax, sometimes they are crumbly and not jelly like. I tried so many different temp and some with no dye and then some with dye. But then some are good. Can you help? Thank you
As a beginner I will like to try this wax. I can’t find it on the site. An how do I go about choosing a wick for the wax. My jar is straight sided 9 oz jar.
What size wick did you use. My glass is 4.5 inches and used a 210Z wick and it tunneled. Now I switched to a 60-44-18Z it's going on the 3rd hour and the melt pool is only about 1.5 inches across and I can't smell the f.o. I used to make theses about 20 years ago, but can't remember what size wick I used.
Hi Ariana! Thanks for reaching out! You definitely want to make sure that you're using glass that is candle-compatible. I would check with the manufacturer of the glass. :) - Lima NG

It will ultimately depend on the diameter of your glass. Ours required a Zinc Core 62-52-18z. However, check the description of the zinc core wicks (link below) as it will give you recommendations based on the diameter of your containers. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hello NG Staff, I'm a newbie to candle making. as I strolled on yt looking for ways to use gel wax I ran across you guys' page. I have a question? when making the ice cubes how long do you let the gel sit before its ready to cut? Thanks in advance.
Hello! Thanks so much for reaching out! You will want to let the gel wax sit in the mold until it has solidified (no longer liquid) for a long as that takes! If you have any other questions, please let us know! Thanks and a have a great day! - Mary NG 🤗
Hi! It will really depend on the diameter of the margarita glass that you use. For our glass, we had a diameter of about 4" so we used the extra-large 62-52-18z. You can find the wick suggestion, based on diameter, in the description of the Zinc Core Wicks (link below). We always recommend testing as FO load, additives, and colorant can affect the burn of your candle. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hi Pete! When melting gel wax, you want to set the temperature between medium and low. Let the Gel Wax melt until it becomes a thick, liquid syrup consistency. Using the thermometer, do not allow the gel wax to get hotter than 230F. :) - Lima NG
