Thanks ADAM, same same in my LG, saved me a couple hundred I would have spent buying a new one, the 250V 20A is indeed fused open as it should, so I am heading to Radio Shack tomorrow (maybe during Superbowl 50 halftime), the internet says they have 2 in stock! I will clean and inspect as much as possible before putting case back together.

In my microwave (GE) the problem was the door switch. When we close the door the two edges of plastic on the door operate (push the button on the door switich each) the two door switches - one up and one down. When we open the door the switch gets stuck (if it is bad) the button on it is not released which causes short circuit and the main fuse (20A) is blown. If by opening the door the fuse of your microwave blows the problem is this switch; it gets stuck. I took the switch out, opened it ( just take the lid of from one side of the switch, very easy), unrelease the liver inside. It is good again. Most probably you won't need to replace it with a new one.

How does a working microwave *suddenly have a disconnected wire*. Did a *mischievous mouse* go in there and pull it loose? Just Saying....

stephen dwyer , my Maytag (Whirlpool) under cabinet microwave is blowing fuses and house circuit breaker, no disconnected plugs like in this video, so I had to dig out my grand dad's old commercial Litton from the early 70's from my basement. had to laugh when I read your comment! You are right!

So the reason my microwave was blowing fuses was the door latch switch. $10 for part number ES0496 and a new 20A fuse. Similar model to this one. Check switches w multi meter. Close door and measure, then open door and measure. Should read no resistance and then high or OL resistance. If it doesn’t bad switch.

I'm curious as to how a locking connector like that just came loose... I know QC in China is crap but it's not THAT crap especially with bigger name brands like that.

Uhmmm, this guy is telling you correct things to look for, as in I had a bug across contacts in my $12,000 AC system and the entire system shut down, we dislodged the baked bug from the contacts and voile' back in business, ask any car mech, this shit happens all time, and if you don't think rats and mice love chewing on plastic (as in wire plastic jackets), well just ask technicians...., regarding poor manufacturing, these things are all assembled in Mex, Phillip, Malay etc etc and if a person doesn't fully engage the contact onto the receptor, sooner or later, either vibration from the fan or the slamming of the door (sort of a random vibration/shock effect) will accumulate and possibly work the contacts apart. If your griping on this guy, you dont work on things very much.

Your switches are mostly bad. Push down on the switch buttons and see if it clicks, springs up properly. If not, replace.

Dear canoon canoon....below, if you know what a fuse looks like, and you see it, take it out and test it. if it is BAD then replace with like fuse. thats all of the story... you wont need instructions 0on how to replace something you just removed. (I hope)

Does anyone think a cut wire to the plug the microwave is plugged in will fry it ?

My microwave has the most annoying problem if I set it to cook on high it cycles as if it's at a lower temperature setting.. Thing is the problem is intermittent... I can take a cup of cold water from the tap to make hot water.. And one time it will be fine... But the next cup (and it can happen even if the microwave has been off and unplugged for a week) the next cup same cup same coldness and the microwave will cycle the magnetrometer... It's friggin annoying as I'll get food from a frozen dinner that says heat on high for yutta yutta min. And the microwave f--ks it up... Hellllpp!!!!! One night it heats fine on high... The next night ... Cycling on high... It's driving me insane...

wondering why my brand new (less than 2 months old) microwave shut down the surge protector that it is plugged into?. I bought a new microwave because it would trip the surge protector while heating up food, I would re set it and it would work fine, I ended up buying a new microwave thinking the problem was the microwave was old, but now this brand new one is tripping the surge protector. any clue as to why this is happening?.

All microwaves draw a lot of power. Surge protectors are by no means designed for these types of loads. Plugging a microwave into a surge protector may pose a *serious fire risk* . Always plug microwaves directly into a wall socket.

the idea behind plugging in the microwave into the surge protector, is to save on energy. the surge protector has a on and off switch, so when Its not in use I switch it off. so its not drawing any electricity, in your estimation the surge protector is the cause of it tripping/turning off. I will plug it into the wall. thanks for your reply.
