Metallica did cover this but this is a traditional Irish folk song from the 1600s that has been covered countless times in many different styles. As usual Voiceplay does a beautiful and unique version.

I love story-telling folk songs like this. Thanx for watching the outro! If you want rock, check out their version of Dream On, Omar is with them on that one as well. Thin Lizzie, the Dubliners, even Peter Paul and Mary (Gilgarra Mountain) covered this one. I am always here for Voiceplay and Geoff!

This is an old Irish folk song from the 1600s. Covered many times including Metallica, Thin Lizzy and The Dubliners.

You may know this song from Metallica, but it is actually an Irish tune from the 1600s. It has been done more times than you can count. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't sound like Metallica, it's closer to the older versions. Do react to Nothing Else Matters. It will not disappoint. Already subscribed.

It’s funny. I never heard the Metallica version, but only knew this as an Irish folk song. So it sounded very different to me also, just for different reasons. But I’ll listen to their voices sing anything! If you haven’t heard it yet, try reacting to their version of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. You won’t be disappointed.

It kinda makes me sad people only know this wonderful old song from Metallica not a fan so never heard that one. Thin Lizzy, Irish Rovers, Dubliners and others. Pretty much covered by the world and it's mother.

I only knew it as a Metallica song. But in hindsight the lyrics do sound much older than that. Real reactions I only know what I know at the time. Thanks for the info

I did check out the Metallica cover and the comments lol Look up the cover they got it from Thin Lizzy or even The Irish Rovers or Dubliners as mentioned I guess when you know a song and many only know it from a metal band and have no context you know? *Edited because typing in the dark is hard and I'm grumpy before the caffeine kicks in lol
