Hi Ralfy. I have had a few friends dying the last years and i have learned through a long mental process that life is about enjoying the small lovely moments, alone and with friends to the fullest. I do not mean getting drunk, i mean relaxing and seeing all the wonders of life. Yesterday i went on a 400 km ride on my motorcycle and just breathed in all the farm smells and the sea smells and just utterly taking it all in. I havent had any whisky the last days due to the excessive heat but tonight i just poured myself a small glass of Longrow Red. And understanding what it is you are talking about while seeing this video, is just this, enjoying life. I bet in your line of work as an undertaker you see a lot of grief and realize that life is too short to short to be spent on superficial things. Life is a gift and we better learn how to cherish every moment and make it as full of theese golden moments as we can. By the way, i love Longrow Red and i add just 2 drops of Big Peat in it. It really benefits of a small amount of fresh peat to give it at least 95 points in my book. Take care Ralfy and live life to the fullest !!

Hi Ralfy, today I picked up a Springbank 10 y.o. As I stood there in the store I remembered that you recommended springbank for the non chill filtering, no added coloring and not watered down to 40 pct. etc. Love the vids keep up spreading the good word on spirits :)

I love Glenfarclas, I think their products are superb. Unfortunately I can only buy the 12 and 10 year old, my state doesn't allow online sales to individual customers. On another note Jim Rutledge of Four Roses is retiring this September and he delivered a warning to the Bourbon industry, saying the trend toward flavored "whiskey" threatens the integrity of the product. He is echoing what Ralfy is saying.

Another wonderful presentation. Glendronach,Benromach and now Glenfarclas. See- I'm making a shopping list! I've consumed Highland Park, Old Poultney and Caol Isla. I've noticed that these whiskeys seem to taste even better when you are sharing them with other people and having conversations. And yes- they all do taste different.

On the day this video was posted, the cask strength 15yo was available at TWE. Now I see that it is apparently sold out. I guess that's the power of a Ralfy review...good whisky sells quickly when there is good word of mouth.

Hi Ralfy, I want to tell you how much I enjoy your whisky reviews. I have annoyed the hell out of my wife by watching about 200 of them in the space of a few weeks as I continue my journey to becoming a malt master. The 15-yo Glenfarclas isn't available here in Canada so I went with the 21 and it is fantastic. Can you review that?

Thank you Ralfy for your educational and entertaining blog. It has brought me an awareness of my own senses, especialy the sense of smell. I was in a local franchise restraunt featuring sandwiches and had a strip bacon, egg and cheese this morning. Could taste nothing off but I got a hint of spoilage or rancid smell from the bacon, ever so slightly... I asked the server about it but was told she checked the dates on it before putting it out and that it was good. I threw away the sandwich, come home and drank a large measure of delicious Highland 17YO Single Malt Scotch Whisky to kill any bacteria I ingested from the portion of the questionable sandwich. I hope I won't get sick but for now I feel better about it.....Why do you find screw top lids on the blends but corks on the malted whiskys? Been with you for several years and enjoying the experience...CHEERS

Ralfy, I really want to thank you so much for your educational vlogs they're truly addictive. I've been watching your vlogs for more than 3 years now! I and my friends are planning to visit Scotland for the first time and I thought who would be the best person to get recommendation from and I thought of nobody but you. We are 4 guys (not gay) and we are malt mates if that's what you like to describe such people like us. The question is where in Scotland would you recommend us to spend 6 days of wonderful drinking experience? Hint: while drinking, love to talk about everything in life with friendly people (like you) who I just met in bars or anywhere and please I want to meet you and talk about whisky for hundred of hours. Thanks again for your honesty in reviewing the most important drink ever made.

Good morning Ralph E... It's morning here in Las Vegas. Always look forward to your sunday post... Since its so early it usually means I'm not drinking with you but there's plenty of time for that as I review your older post which I've not seen yet. Lol Well, it seems the search is on for rent forklift 15 year old 58 0.6 proof! Thanks again for another informative Vlog! 👍👍

Tim Chounard Damn speech to text!...Here are the corrections: Ralfy (not Ralf E), Glenfarclas (not "rent forklift") and finally, 58.6% (not 58.06 proof). Technology...Its a double-edged sword really.... ;)

I know, right! Sounds like a great name for a punk-rock band! Lol. in fact, I hope all the "Merry Maltsters" out there need to enjoy a DRAM of "rent forklift" with me today!... That will be what I think of every time I have Glenfarclas now...LOL. My life has changed!...good times!

Hi Ralfy I'll try to post this again with this new whisky-review :) A long time malt mate here. I have become a fan of malts produced from direct fired stills. I find that it gives it an extra dimension and, well an real umff. I hope you will consider making a series with this topic.I hope all is well. Best regards Chano

Ralfy, speaking of a "Christmas cake arrival", the festive season shall soon be upon us. I would humbly suggest, that the bothy is overdue on the interior for a coat of paint or white wash. Just in time for the holiday season and in preparation for the 600th malt moment.

Interesting to imagine the variation in a given whisky from this less clinical day's where the Friday afternoon distillation may differ from the Tuesday morning one. Very interested in the direct fire stills of old as I was told on a distillery tour that the uneven distribution of heat can impart complexity that more modern heating methods entirely miss, the drive for consistency is throwing away character. Such is life with the fun police running the show. 🤔🙄

Funny, I just bought a store bottling of Glenfarclas myself. (Small selection of first fill oloroso casks from 1990). Good stuff, but demanding. If you find yourself in San Francisco or L.A., I'd highly recommend a visit to K&L Wines. They're one of the few stores around here that does stuff like that and they tend to do a very good job.

Glenfarclas is one of my top three distilleries. I have been nosey and checked out the price at, The Whisky Exchange. Which I think is priced very well indeed, just might have to buy a bottle Ralfy. That's if there is any left.

oh another thing, when Glenfarclas is released as an indy bottling, it is called "Probably Speyside's finest" by Douglas Laing. they recently released a relatively cheap 50yo. also Cadenhead's just calls it Glenfarclas, and sometimes it is called Ballindaloch.

i have this bottle since january, still closed but i'm happy to hear that it's different. and judging by the colour it looks like refill casks. it's great that they didn't go the safe route with yet another generic sherry monster. everything about Glenfarclas is fantastic, from direct fired stills, over dunnage warehouses, to No caramel policy and on top of that fair prices for the people. now if only the Family Casks weren't so expensive... speaking of refill casks Ralfy, have you taken a look at the 17yo Springbank Sherrywood? another spirit driven character Whisky from mostly refill casks.

Was hoping you would be doing the 12 review, as I just got to taste some of it recently. Dunno if this 15 will be on the horizon of purchase in the near future - Infact won't be available in any travel retail shop - the 46% 15 yr will be though. Kindly do a review of the 12 & 46% 15 please! Found #201 of the 15 yr old. Watching it now ;)

Ralfy, you gave the standard 15 year old bottling a score of 90 back in whisky review 201. Would you say that the standard bottling still holds up well after this time and is essentially on par with the cask strength version, even if it is different and represents the house style?

Hi Ralfy. Went to pick up a 15 (or 17) but my SAQ was out so I grabbed the 12yo. Not v. good. Now on my shelf. Sooo .. when I get my next 15 (or 17) would it blend well with the 12 (lift it out of the doldrums) and at what quantities ? Or is it just a waste of a decent 15 yo ?

Hey Ralfy. A wee presumptuous to assume we don't know how taxes work or how they're used in our respective countries. To 'not' give us the price you paid based on your take of taxation is well, ludicrous at best maltmate. Its like you sometimes think your talking to children. No we're big boys & girls now and if we can handle bad whisky we can handle bad taxes. Its not rite Ralfy and its not who we are. Who do you think pays our taxes...we do. Prices please Ralfy, from there we can do the math. Thank you on behalf of many a maltmate who don't buy because you don't state the cost. Peace.
