The most beautiful "THANK YOU" in all of Hollywood history. This Christmas classic shows that no matter how important everybody thinks we are or were, we need a reminder that we REALLY made a difference.

Yeah, it's amazing. It's hard to describe it though. I guess the best way to describe it is like "After all these years, they haven't forgotten me and are still grateful."

It shows how much they loved him. He was hard, but he was fair and when a man is like that, the men who are under him want to follow his orders and bend over backwards for him.

This year in 2023, we lost a relative who was a WWII veteran, and in the Navy. He had just reached his 100th birthday, and celebrated with his entire extended family, a very large gathering. This movie has always been a favorite, and this clip does a good job of filling in needed information for anyone who might not be familiar with the movie. Too bad Bing was an a****** in real life, he told his first wife that her job was to raise HIS children so he can have a career and a life and that should be enough for her!! he used to beat his kids with a belt, well his first group of kids, he had four boys with his first wife Gary, the twins Phillip and Dennis, and Lindsey and later on he got remarried again and had Harry Jr, Mary Francis, and Nathaniel, and when he had his three children later on he said he felt different about fatherhood. Most of his children are dead now, I believe the only ones that are still alive are Mary and Harry, two of his children committed suicide. I forget which two. Denise Crosby was Dennis's daughter, she starred on Star Trek the next generation, I believe Mary Crosby was on Dallas and Harry Crosby was in Friday the 13th. Gary said that every night his father would tell him to come into his office and he got weighed and if he didn't pass the weight he got whipped with the belt. I don't remember what one of his children had said this but he said that they Weren't abused even though Gary said so. I don't remember which brother said they weren't but he didn't back up Gary's claims. Too bad that Bing was such an abusive a******!!

My wife is a teacher of 5th and 6th grade history. She had the parents of a fellow teacher come in and talk to her students. They told of growing up in London and what they experienced when the Germans started dropping bombs. They came home from shopping one day to find that their house was flattened by an explosion. Even tho this is just a movie, the sentiments remain the same. Pride in your country and for every solidier who put their lives on the line for us. Multiple members on both sides of our family are military or ex military. My son is currently a Marine. I appreciate service members a lot more now than I used to. God bless them.

As a combat veteran myself I rarely think about the bad times, I honestly don't I concentrate and love to tell stories about the good times, The camaraderie that can only be felt in combat. And now retired our commanding officer during those years in Iraq, I couldn't imagine have serving under a better officer a soldier soldier like retired colonel Mike Fowler. Consummate professional, led his men from the front, stood between his men and any superior officer who had hair brain schemes about doing Chansey dodgy stupid maneuvers with his men and women. he knew everyone of us and almost everything about every one of us. This movie reminds me of him

Any time after November 1st through the last snow of the season is when I'll watch White Christmas. This film illustrates the contemporary attitudes, for better or worse, of that era in which it was made. Danny Kaye's line after Bing Crosby says, "We slept then he slept" is "Then he woke up and nobody slept for 48 hours" stops the show in its tracks and encapsulates the dire nature of The Battle of the Bulge in that _solitary_ moment.

I watch this movie during the run-up to Christmas between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day then any time it snows ❄ until the last snowfall of the season. The scene where Bob and Phil are watching the General in the theater as the Haynes Sister are performing strikes me for this dialog between Bing and Danny, Bob: "We ate, then he ate. We slept, then he slept" Phil: "Yeah, but then he woke up and nobody slept for forty-eight hours." This brief exchange goes right to the heart of the G.I. soldiering experience and it has only grown in my esteem over the decades.

The fact that this General is so loved and respected by his men, they come from miles away, many years later, in order to support him during a rough time at the end of his years…, it says a lot about what people used to be like. You don’t see, and rarely hear of any of this type of behavior in this day and age. A genuine love , respect, and appreciation of a human being by others. A beautiful thing.

Reaffirms your faith in the goodness of people. Something that is sorely lacking in todays world.

The "goodness of people" has an origin.......the "goodness of God" (He's not a religion...He's love).

But people with that much goodness don't ascend to high ranks in the REAL LIFE Military.

Being a military man myself, in the “real” military, I bet MG Waverly would be lucky enough to be promoted to Colonel, he was too well-liked by his troops, his superiors don’t like that!

Maybe you should re-think the ex part. 3rd wave feminism has fucked your heads. But, at least the good guys know who to fuck and forget, then go on to get something special.

+junito1957 Yep. Now everything is gloom and doom politically correct agenda driven by design . . . to drive us all fantasy crazy and teach our kids nothing useful while feeding us all hints it's acceptable to be more and more anti-social, senselessly violent and to react with violent responses to situations . . . real or imaginary !Timmy and Lassie where are you ?!?!?!

Honestly it's hard to capture a movie like this now. Pure clean comedy. The girls are stunningly gorgeous. Both of them but not an ounce of slutty trash. Problem is Hollywood pushed the envelope, for so long now I'm not sure they are capable of this any longer. Give it time they'll find a way to remake this masterpiece lol.

Remember this, if you've not worn the uniform, don't even imagine that you will ever get an idea of what that bond is like. So if you've not fought, not put your everything before everything you held dear, in the service of a thought called your country..... Just thank God that men & women exist who live by this code.

This was the greatest Christmas movie that I have ever seen in my life! My family and I try and make it a point to watch it every Christmas. Although because we've been moving around a bit we haven't been able to see it for a few years.

This was a tradition when I was growing up. My father was a proud WWII vet as were his three brothers and 5 step brothers. All came home alive, which is a miracle. The only injury was a knee injury to my father so he had a limp til he passed. He was proud of it. But we’d watch this every year. And we’d all cry at this part. I still do, I just did watching it now. That generation will never be repeated. Ever.
