Me too, and I'm crying listening to it again. It brings back memories of getting my first pair of skis and being a 5 year old skiing down the back road to the old mine in one of the canyons by my house. Not a sound but my skis on the snow and me putting my open mouth up to the sky to catch the snow flakes as the softly fell. Life can be so wonderful.
"White Christmas" by Bing Crosby is not only the best-selling Christmas/holiday single in the United States, but also the best-selling single of all time, with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide.
It’s wonderful to listen to these special melodies from of old and be sentimentally reminded of our joyous pasts, especially if you are blessed to be aged as I am.
No, not since president Lyndon Baines Johnson signed " The Equal Rights of 1965. " crosby might have been successful in hypnotizing you to join his lynch mob with the kkk. ( No one is impressed with that, whatsoever ! )
RayMak, what is " so extremely beatiful " about crosby " racism ? crosby might have successfully encouraged you to be on his lynch mob with the kkk. Define exactly what it is about crosby's too obvious racism that hypnotized you into joining his lynch mob ?
@@zapdunga12 That's not the point. I watched this film, Holiday inn, for the first time in my life last week on New Year's 2024. And I also got the impression that this is a wonderful woman, a wonderful man and a wonderful couple. I live near Russia and we have a strong influence of Russian culture. We also have a film that everyone watches for the New Year. This is "The Irony of Fate" 1976. This is also a love story. And there, too, the lead actor sings in his own voice, and the lead actress sings in the voice of the Soviet and Russian singer Alla Pugacheva. And even her usual lines were re-voiced by another actress, because she was Polish and spoke Russian poorly. And everyone knows about it. But this does not change the essence. Everyone still loves these actors. And associate them with their characters. So it doesn't surprise me that Marjorie Reynolds was redubbed. Anyway it's a beautiful couple and a beautiful movie.
Singers that Gave Americans Songs and Lyical words and Melodies we Still Sing and Cherish today. That is why we look so fondly to the Past. Thanks to All of Our War Vets and U.S.O. members you are Remembered and Very much Appreciated. Thank you Bing for beautiful Music...
This was NOT done in 1950....it was made in 1942 from that great classic film, "Holiday Inn"! Then they made another one in the 1950s called "White Christmas" with the late great Danny Kaye but it was icky sweet and done in color! Not nearly as great as "Holiday Inn where this classic iconic great song was first introduced by Bing Crosby! That movie also starred the late great iconic , very innovative Fred Astaire! A must watch for all! Merry Xmas! Thanks for sharing~
Joseph Howard Just looked it up also in IMDB and indeed it is Marjorie Reynolds, but the movie is Holiday Inn (1942) m.imdb.com/title/tt0034862/ God Bless and Merry Christmas.
@@jennydiazvigneault5548 Marjorie Reynolds was not in the remake; the female stars of that were Vera-Ellen and Rosemary Clooney. You can also see from photos of Crosby in both that this clip is from the 1942 version.
Missing my baby on Christmas eve. Five years without her. Her mom was a narcissist so if you have experience with that then you know what she put me through. I love you Holly. ;(
The song was about the guys overseas in the Army fighting for Peace. That is why he is dreaming about it. Sad really! I love snow for Christmas. Canadian Fan
A lot of the old movies were based around WW2, which naturally inspired a lot of creative forces due to the high emotions that were running back then. After all, no-one knew how the world would look a few years hence, and even the US was almost within range of Nazi missiles and subs. Now we are all within range of thousands of missiles, so any new wars will probably be over before we blink!
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten And children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow I'm dreaming of a white Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know, (uh, uh, uh) Where the treetops glisten And children listen…
" Rose0691 " the civil war ended with Lincoln's battle at Appomatix. Its a crying shame you signed up for grand wizard of kkk bing crosby's " confederate states of america. "
🌧🌧❄️⛄️WE ARE REMINISCING BACK WHEN CHRISTMAS MUSIC HAD A VERY REALISTIC POETIC MEANING & IT WAS CREATED SO BEAUTIFULLY THAT IT STILL CONTINUE'S TO CAPTIVATE US ❗️
@@jamesdudley6321 Hot take: It's an ugly song compared to this one. I don't like the setting, the vocals, or the acting in the music video. Frankly, I hate that anyone would compare the two songs. Each to their on though, eh? Haha Merry Christmas!
Christmas song Was recorded between November 1941 and January 1942 during production of Holiday Inn, which released in Cinemas that August (although this scene was set on Christmas Day), this song topped the charts in October and remained for 11 weeks
Bring me back to being snowed in at my grandparents ranch in Wyoming. Digging snow tunnels and building snowmen and a crackling fire. Wonderful times pre-smartphones and computers.
@@layton-lel Let's not act like he was the only bad guy back then. There were just as many murderers and terrible people back then as there are today, it wasn't some mystical time when everyone was amazing. There were way more racists back then.

In Holiday Inn, the composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1942. In the film, Crosby sings "White Christmas" as a duet with actress Marjorie Reynolds, though her voice was dubbed by Martha Mears.
@@davids.hartley2694 Holiday Inn is a movie from 1942. The song White Christmas was made popular by the movie. Also, you do know that White Christmas was written about a man that lost his 3 week old son on Christmas Day? So it has nothing to do with the hotel chain nor racism. One more thing, Irving wrote this song.
My mom love the song like Christmas it was one of her favorites she passed away on November 22nd 2022 I will keep this phone in my heart as long as I remember again for my mom that's up in heaven along with my other relatives love you all keep us safe down here please thank you God bless

Thinkyouknowmusic on Twitter brought me here. Mr. Crosby singing "White Christmas" for the first time, in the movie "Holiday Inn". Happy Birthday today sir, you are missed.
Songs like this make me think of a time when Christmas wasn't about materialism. Like Ricky of TPB said, Christmas is about getting drunk and stoned with friends and family.
I’m thankful for a white Christmas, Each year it’s white because I know: God has given Jesus for our forgiveness, to make hearts as white as snow. I’m thankful for a White Christmas, For God has brought me into Light. May His light shine on you tonight, and may all your Christmasses be white!
