Being born in 1981 as a child I use to think it was a huge time difference between the 1960's and 1981 but of course I got older and realize 12 to 15 years is short. I love seeing the 1960's and before in color especially my parent's generation youth years.
From the view point of living in Perry Homes Southwest Atlanta was a good part of town. They lived in houses we lived in apartments. Big difference back then late 60s to late 70s.

When looking at pure population numbers, Fulton County has the largest number of black residents, at 540,568 (53.6 percent of the county population), followed by DeKalb , at 392,421 (53.3 percent of the county population).The greatest decrease of White population were in Rockdale (32.90 percentage point decrease), Henry (26.1 percentage point decrease) and Douglas (25.6 percentage point decrease) counties. Stonecrest and Lithonia, both located in DeKalb County, rank first and second for the highest percent share of totals represented by the black population- at 92.5 percent and 91.6 percent, respectively. In the 29 counties , covering much of north Georgia, the percentage of residents identifying as white was around 39% in 2023, down from 51% in the 2010 census. By 2030 whites wil make up less than 35% if current trends persist!

That is great My family moved to 715 Peyton Rd SW from the Mozely Park area in 1964. I attended SWHS was in the second intergrate class. That crowd scene I remember several of the students. For sales sign were all over the area until around 1968-69 when i guess all of the white families had all moved out. Thanks again
When my family moved from the westside to SW Atlanta in 1964 I was one of two black people in my third grade class. Two years later in my fifth grade class there were only two white kids in there. That shows just how fast the whites got out of SW Atlanta..
Zillow shows 715 Peyton Road, built in 1952 and on 2 acres valued at 404K, I bet during the white flight, people were selling their homes at great losses and If they had held into the homes and not moved would have been a great investment.
