I have been using White Night for a year now, I have the 36 full pan! I had been watching endless reviews on for a couple months and well I just couldn’t let it pass without trying it for myself. Im so glad I got it. So far I have made 170 paintings, the colors are so vibrant it is so easy and smooth working with. Love the color palette you choose. 💕

Majority of professional artists in Russia use paints by this company (watercolour, oils, acrylics). They are cheap (labour in Russia is cheaper and that is a huge part of final cost also it’s a huge manufacturer, they ship their supplies from elementary schools to art colleges and academies, mass products tend to be cheaper). They are always decent quality. I use their acrylics (master class), I love them even though I have golden and Amsterdam too (as for the latter two I am often scared to use them coz they cost so much more, can’t say they are very different in quality, all great, I just love some pigments more by golden and some by Petersburg factory). They have a good RU-vid channel Nevskaya Palitra as well. Peace ☮️

In Canada it's often sold under the name Yarka St Petersburg from Jack Richeson.
@LanaGoesArt

I don't think the Yarka ones are the same, in the photos it's not only the wrapping that is different, but also the pans, which remind me more of Koh-I-Noor "professional" watercolours, but which are lesser quality than the White Nights.

It's always such a treat to watch you paint. I love your colour selection and what a gorgeous, luminous motif! I have a set of 24 of these. Some of the colours are not ones I delight too much in, but I have no gripes with the quality and I love to use them in my sketchbook.

Your art is beautiful as always! I never would've picked that selection of colours myself, but the way you use them together just blows my mind. As someone who's often scared of using "weird" colours, this has really made me want to be a little more adventurous and throw colours that I like together, and see what I can do with them.

I love your demo painting so much!! And j I love how you used the opaque paints almost like gouache at some points, very cool technique. I have a whole bunch of White Nights pans and they're honestly such good value for money. I'm actually waiting for an order with these exact paints, they finally showed up on Artemiranda (a Spanish art shop which will probably be my EU replacement for Jackson's after Brexit). Also: I love the size of the pans - they're just a smidge smaller than your standard full pans, which makes it possible to fit fourteen of them in a small metal palette (the ones with three wells in the lid, like Schmincke's - they're a hair more rectangular than the more common standard small metal palette with two wells in the lid).

@@_GreenSkies_ Yeh, I think so too except for M Graham of course. Their WC and G are the same formula with just different grinds between the two. Others may be like that too but MG is the only gouache I've used. So maybe I just got it LOL maybe its the grind with some brands. Edit: BTW, this demo inspired me. I just bought 11 whole pans of WK for about $3.40 per pan from Jackson's on Amazon... shipping $20 and change bringing per pan to about $5.40 still a super deal for artist quality.

I own the older St Petersburg sets distributed by Jack Richeson in North America for Russian paint manufacturer Nevskaya Palitra, and they are labeled PROFESSIONAL grade “Yarka St. Petersburg” watercolors. I can attest that they are identical to the “White Nights” referred to here. They even have the exact same wrappers on each pan. However, Jack Richeson is not distributing them labeled as “White Nights.” Confusion also arises from the fact that Yarka (a Russian distributor), also sold Yarka student grade sets, that were inferior and had different wrappers. They were called Yarka, but were different than Yarka St Petersburg. Nowadays White Nights watercolors can be purchased in North America without going through the Jack Richeson distributor (who repackages the paints into English language boxes), or you can buy the Richeson version on Blick Art or Jerry’s Artsrama online in the US. I hope this clears up the confusion between distributors and manufacturers of these nice paints. In summary: Distributors: Jack Richeson and Yarka; actual paint factory is in St Petersburg, Russia; White Nights and Yarka-St Petersburg are Professional and identical paints; student grade Yarka and Sonnet watercolors are not the same as White Nights or Yarka St Petersburg.

Oh my god you would not believe what a lifesaver this video was for me 😭 I've been wanting to add a Caput Mortuum to my palette and while I trust Schmincke's quality their paints are more expensive, so I was trying to look into the White Nights' Caput Mortuum but until now I hadn't seen *a single video* swatching this specific color (since it's not included in their pre-made sets), and I really wanted to see like video of the color being swatched because official swatch sheets and the colors displayed on the wrapping can sometimes be super inaccurate, which sucks because I am Very Specific when it comes to what colors I want in my palette. So like, yeah, thank you, you saved my wallet ❤️

The company is based in B.C. and they have a good selection: 12, 24 and 36 pan set. Plus a wide variety of individual full pan colors @ 3.95$/ea for most of them. I am quite impressed by your painting with these uncommon colours. Good job!

Painting for many years now and tried many brands. Obviously subjective but i find all artist watercolour paints up to the job. But i grab the white nights most of the time and not just because i worry less about using them up on messing about. But because they rewet so easy and have decent pigment load. I mean who else does a full pan of perylene violet for £1.90!

i want new colors ... no decission yet ... i was near to get schmincke but now i am guessing between sennelier because layering and white nights because sme how they look very nice... can you please give a short or long review if you can compare them? most just compare all other brands... sadly.... why or how do you use them and when or why and where is which one better and why ... and do you mix both brands? can they work together and how or how not? and so on... whyt can you tell us? thanks in advance ;)
@joyfulldj
@joyfulldj 3 года назад
@@wongogubongo8844 I think that depends on the need for the brand. White nights I like for sketchbook practise. Sennelier is fun but it is a brand that shines when done with a lot of layers,meaning that does take time; schmincke is a perfect fit for inbetween all of them, takes less time in getting used to,but can be on the pricy side when not in the EU; here I can get a tube for as cheap as 3 euro; if you are outside the eu the price might give you a bit of a scare; I will tell you that schmincke has a wonderful selection of nature colors,perfect for botanical artist and wildlife;advantage is that for Granulation,schmincke added the G on the discription. But that is not a brand to pick if you are in love with granulation,wich is why a lot of botanical geeks like me love it,lol
@wongogubongo8844
@wongogubongo8844 3 года назад
@@joyfulldj i get a picture ... so senellier sounds good for leafs and flowers but it takes time... and schminke is good for wood because some granulation ... and schminke has good earth or natural colors ... this is exactly what i was guessing ... i saw many videos and some brands seem to have problems with the earth-tones as in example winsor & newton ... and schmincke seems to be very well in that ... and with sennelier i see a lot of nice flowers and its very subjective but to me they look even better as with schmincke ... so may a combination of sennelier and schmincke earth-tones is a grat thing ... and white nights have some special charme but seem to have a problem in violet but are very nice and i like pictures with them mores as with lucas which some how has a chalki glow in my eyes ... so thanks for this information i gan get some thing out of it :D
@joyfulldj
@joyfulldj 3 года назад
@@wongogubongo8844 I suggest make yourself a travelpalette of each brand of your liking. Might sound silly but the only way to test what is right for you is by having a startset of 12. If anything your paper is a better investment and can be quite pricy specialy in covid times where shipping can be an issue. I have a huge studio palette of 32 wells. But I went through a zillion palettes prior to upgrading to this. make a botanical palette or a color palette with colors of your liking just make sure you have a cool and warm tone of each wich is eaier for mixing. Experimenting can be expensive; if you can get empty half pans where you live I sugest you buy single tubes. More economical. If you cant get empty half pans the cheapy plastic ones are awesome. Nothing wrong with combining the paints you like in different brands.
@wongogubongo8844
@wongogubongo8844 3 года назад
@@joyfulldj Yes ... thank you so much... first i thoght i have to chose one brand.. but it is exactly what i thoght after informing my self ... i will take from each brand the best for me and as you say it .. i will use tubes and fill them into pans and i will try to build a own palette.. and my target is to get around 12 colors... first i thoght i will have to get hunderts but many people suggest to keep it smal and to learn how to mix.. this makes sense to me because else i will buy a big palette and most color i will not use any way... and to keep it small is also better for my budget and my learning process in mixing colors ... i am very glad you are strengthening me in my planings :)
