So, this is why it fails with corrupted gems, where the cause isn't purely physical damage, it's physical changes brought about by mental trauma being reflected in their physical appearance.

From the way she talked was very robotic and also it kind of remind me of the robot lady voice of the evil computer from Portal and Portal 2, that steam game where your that lady you have the special gun at it's a duck's blue portal which is what you enter to and in the another side of the room another portal appears and that product is the exit of your portal , knowing that realize the connection between white Pearl and the voice of the lady computer from the portal games.

Well, one of those spoilers was "a gem gets shattered". I have the feeling that Steven is gonna try to save White pearl, his original pearl (which is really obvious) but he's not gonna be able to do it for some reason (as you said, she's probably beyond repair). I think it's more of a stylistic choice. Jasper called Pearl defective because she was disobedient to homeworld (fluorite and rhodonite are considered off colour too even tho the gems making up their fusions are most likely fine appearancewise) Edit: also other gems can have different cuts and the diamonds all have diffdrent gem shapes all together. Blakat014 A lot of people were saying it was because pink broke her pearl, but I'm not even sure if pink could have that kind of power. It's possible it was because her pearl was failing to make her happy, so as punishment white permanently scarred her physically and mentally. She didn't do her job, so she was punished. Just a rough guess though.
