I will never forget this episode, my close friend was pregnant and like a week over due, and she went into labor laughing at this. We really thought it was Vanilla Ice at first, because it came on just like it does when real R&B artist use to perform on the show. Classic stuff.
now its all reality BS and woke crap hire off skin color and trying to be funny when real comedian dont get a chance because they dont have a leftist agenda
@@nursemendoza4413 No at being a SMART person. I worked in radio back then and I’ll tell you a few things. 1. He sold 15 Million copies of the album 2. The single “Ice ice baby also sold at least a million. 3. He was so hot he had concerts and appearances booked out for at least a year. ( some say YEARS) Each of those dates had a “booking fee” attached to it and that fee was paid to Ice and was non-refundable. So all that money came in handy when it all came crashing down. He was able to walk away without ever having to work again. Now he has kept trying to hit musically with not much success…But he didn’t waste his money on it. Time passed and he branched out into other areas. Then popularity came back and people wanted to see him again, so he is still making money from the silly little rap song he did. He managed his money, he was married to the same woman for about 20 years. They divorced a couple of years ago. His net worth is estimated at 12 million. Again not bad for a one hit wonder. That is why I say SMART. So many others have had more and now have less. Most one hit types have nothing. He is a multi-millionaire,father to two young ladies. Edit: I don’t know who managed him. Because I don’t think a 22 year old kid knew how to take advantage of all he took advantage of (including the bomb movie “Cool As Ice). Whoever the person was, Ice listened to him and that fact has made his life what it is today.
I would submit his performance in The Mask as solid, unquestionable evidence. Jim did all of those song/dance numbers in the flesh and absolutely killed it.
@@huadataotie5619 No way! I never knew that and I still have this somewhere on VHS taped live lol, also had Bizzare Ride when it came out. Thanks! Just watched again now lol
@@roben9580 he was right tho, nobody has convinced me that vanilla ice wasn't just another appropriator capitalizing on black music with no intend of actually adding to the art form
solidsnakeisme Don't forget the part where Jim is putting on his shoe again and says "This happens every time! Yo! I 'gotta learn how to tie a BOW!" I just about fell out of my chair when I heard that.
I did something like this when my class was forced to Line Dance to country, back in the 90's. After seeing this skit, I rigged my boot so it flew off at the beginning of the event and continued the rest of the class dance bootless in protest. I also had a hat so large my head disappeared into it. To this day I still hate, Achy Breaky Heart, and a tip of the hat to Jim for helping me cope with humiliation with dignity.
All The People He First Went Into Inliving Color With... Jim Carrey Jamie Foxx Tommy Davidson David Allan Grier EVERY LAST 1 OF THE PEOPLE WHEN THE SHOW FIRST STARTED THEY WERE ALL HILARIOUS!!!
@@reggiemars2k8 What I liked was when you put both Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey together because the two of them would constantly try to outgross the other one, whether it made it on the show, or in the outtakes. Those two really knew comedy. 😊
Ah yes, Jim Carrey. He mastered... nay, *perfected* the art of physical comedy, reaching a level no one else could match, not even Chaplin, Keaton, or The Stooges. That's probably the highest compliment you could give the man. He was an unstoppable force in the '90s. It was a glorious time.
"What's your real name?" "Robert Van Winkle." "Why did you change it?" "Nothing rhymes with Winkle." Words that rhyme with wrinkle 1. Tinkle 2. Crinkle 3. Sprinkle
This goes down as one of the funniest parodies. I can never get this song out of my head. White - white - baby....This show was one of the best and my favorites to watch. I remember him and Damon Wayans skits like it was yesterday.
I lost count after the night this aired the next day at work almost everyone young and old saying, "Kick It" and having their shoe fly across the room.
I loved, loved ,loved In Living Color. Genuinely hysterically funny. If I were on your job and saw everybody young and old kick up their shoe. I would have been on the floor laughing so hard and every time I thought about it away from my job I'd be laughing.
This was my all-time favorite Skit from In Living Color when I was growing up. Back then there was no RU-vid, so I'd constantly be hoping for a rerun, just so I could see it again.. even just once!!
In Living Color was one of those shows you waited all week for and just had to watch it the day it came on. Well, mostly because it was so great but also because no one had a Tivo yet.
This was one of my dads favorite skits..he died in 2020..he always used to rap the part “I told the world I got stabbed in the butt but it’s was a toilet paper cut” 😅😅
I was in college when this episode can on T.V, at first my roommate and I thought it was Vanilla Ice. When we found out it was Jim Carrey, we were laughing so hard we were crying.
Vanilla Ice was such an easy target then - they could have mailed this sketch in and gone for the cheap laughs and they would have certainly gotten them - but they didn't. Shawn, the dancers, and of most of all Jim Carrey NAIL to the fucking wall every nuance and subtlety of the Vanilla Ice phenomenon (which is/was much bigger than just Vanilla Ice.) Everything about this sketch is PERFECT.
tdsafff: I wonder what Vanilla Ice's/Robert Van Winkle's (whatever his name was) reaction to this parody of him was. I would have liked to have seen the look on his face, especially if he had no idea that this parody was going to be on TV.
@@PapagenoMF Damn dude this comment is like six months old you must miss me, don't worry I'll be back in 2024 keep your eyes peeled, I will be BACK! MAGA 2024!
This is over 30 years old and still hysterical. I remember watching it live in college - my roommates and I almost peed our pants because we were laughing so hard!!!
I watched this show religously back then. I remember laughing so hard my stomach hurt. From the writing, to the choreography and the supporting cast, this show as awesome and this episode was *Chef's Kiss* perfection.
Same here, I was super sad when the show was canceled. I could not believe it; the ratings of this show had to be astronomical. Everyone I knew loved it.
That show was about society. They made fun of everyone and everyone laughed. It was comedy but it was also dealing with current events. It was classic.
This is still incredible. Rob is awesome and so is Jim. Good for the both of them and the Wayans. And let’s not forget the band Living Colour. Even though they didn’t want their name used they are extremely talented too
One of the best character assassinations ever! Can u guys believe SNL turned him down.. Crazy JIm Carrey was literally the Vanilla Ice of in living color
I love Jim Carrey he's multi-talented he does it all from Slapstick, Comedy and Drama and he does them all very well. He's also has great coordination of various body movements he's very flexible. He's a true talent!
"...Mix it with Curly Larry and Mo Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! HEY YO!.." This is TMI but it's the only way to describe it....I damn near pissed myself laughing so hard when he did that!! 😆 😂 😆 😂 😆
Was in middle school when this happened and was a big fan of both the show, and VI. The promos were cut in a way that had me believing this was really going to be him as a musical guest. Best fake out ever.
@@thevoid99 He had to pay royalties to Bowie and Queen for sampling "Under Pressure". But Vanilla Ice has never been affiliated with Suge Knight or Death Row. So there's no way in hell he would have to pay Suge Knight anything.
u can do what cha wanna do,, in living colour,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,loved it then,,dig it now,, wished it would come back,..............................great show
HaHa , everytime some kid see's something that they have never seen before on RU-vid they say , ' that was so ahead of its time '. I got news for ya. It was right on time .
Such respect for Carrey's monumental talent. How many comedians would take this idea and actually say : 'let's do it!'. The only white guy in and all black comedy show. Carrey was fearless.
