30 years???? Thats like me when I was a kid in the 90's watching shows in the 60's. Back then 30 yrs seemed like the dark ages. Now 30 yrs seems like yesterday.
He would say that it was always toughest to maintain character whenever Jim was part of this skit, that's why he's not in very many of them. Jim would try extra hard to get Damon to break character 😜
Didn't know him and Beg Pardon for folks bad manners.....been 9 months after all 'people'. May you have Fair Winds and Following Seas and R.I.P. to ya'lls Daddy. I'll ad-lib/take in vain a quote(s) by Oddball of Kelly's Heroes fame: "Positive Waves, man. Cain't be havin no Negitive Waves now. Gotta keep them Positive Waves."
Homey the clown Don't mess around Even though the men tried to keep him down one day homey will break all the chains then he'll fly away but until that day homey don't play
simply put, i LIVED for this show when I was 10, 11 years old. Jim Carrey was EVERYTHING to me. And Homey, Handyman and the Bum with the pickle juice was unmissable. Such a legendary show. So great with the rap acts at the end too.
My brother, to this day, says, "Mm, the _natural_ adhesive" whenever boogers or snot is mentioned. 😂 That's from the skit "This Old Box", one of the best!!!
We used to talk about the latest episode at school, if you didn't watch you weren't cool ( we were like 10yo ). I doubt kids are doing that now for S&L.
I think it would be amazing as hell for In Living Color to do a reunion episode special type thing with all the old cast. Because a lot of them got some real fame after that show. David Allen Grier. Damon Wayans. Jim Carrey. Even JLo used to be a dancer on that show. Have her come back and do a song like SNL has the musical guest. They could do a show with some seriously funny bits, get some killer ratings, and then make a DVD/Blu Ray release of it and make a killing there too. Why don't companies use me for coming up with ideas to make money? Lol. I'm telling you that a one hour special with the old cast of ILC would make them all a shitload of money. The actors as well as whatever studio is smart enough to do it. They could even modernize some of their older bits to help fill out time. Who wouldn't want to see Homey D. Clown as an older dude with even less patience? Lol. Seriously they need to get on that shit
@@rhosigma2388 Actually, it was quite clear his catch phrase and attitude/etc was well known throughout this skit, so must've been some time afterwards.
I was a middle schooler in Miami when this came out. The next day on the school bus and all day at school all you heard was “Homie don’t play dat”. Such memories!
I don't know how it came up, but my high school astronomy teacher found out that me and my friends had never heard of Homey D. Clown and so he decided to show us this video. We were all laughing. We were so glad he introduced us to this. I decided to look up the other sketches of this character. I also told my teacher that I found out a video game of Homey was made.😂
R.i.p. to the king of comedy, Paul Mooney for bringing us Homie D. Clown, ppl won't kno how much of an influence he had over blk comedy, for over 5 decades, respect big bro
***** lol don't be like that. It was just a one time thing. Even though upon re watching it, realized how mediocre it was it still remains as one of my childhood movies.
April 15,1990: "In Living Color", the brainchild of the Wayans Brothers premieres on FOX-TV. Happy 27th Anniversary. Thank you and God bless. thanks for the upload, Alexander Ross. Blessings
"Let's get something straight kids, Homey may be a clown but he don't make a fool out of himself" Classic!! I Love the Wayan's, they were the equivalent of the "Jackson's" only in "Comedy" instead of Entertainment... and "sanity" over all lol!
Yet more classic comedy from In Living Color! "It's part of my prison work release program!" 😂 Now Homey makes total sense! 🤣 If Damon was ad libbing from breaking character when he smiled and said "Very good...you made Homey smile after all!", it shows his talent, as I'd never have guessed that when first watched this. I think the other cast acting as kids finally broke him, but he made it look like it was genuinely part the sketch, awesome stuff!
My dad would say this all the time while I was a kid growing up. I always thought it was hilarious. It was a real treasure to see through the comments that my father was not the only one quoting Homie the Clown.
If anything it stands for "don't play that". Lol. Homey "don't play that" clown. Lol. But seriously the D is really just for da. Homey Da Clown. But whenever it gets written they put just a letter D for the da.
The best comedy skit show mankind will ever create. Raw, unfiltered reality - comedy that made fun of any and everything so nobody felt left out. Now everything is offensive and political.
Now sing the Homey D Clown song. Homey the clown does'nt mess around even though the man tries to keep him down. Then one day Homey will break the chains and fly away. I SAID SING IT!
Oh my god, I’m getting old. Everyone looks so young. I can’t believe how much time has passed since Living Color debuted. Homie the Clown still makes me laugh out loud 😂
Fabian Morales Yeah I know and I remember but I guess I just wasn't into it at the time. I was in College and away from home, so...yeah, but I remember how everyone was talking about it but I just didn't appreciate it until now lol!
My kids said something and I just blurted it out "homey don't play that!" They were like hu?!! lol lol.... It's been years, I had to look it up and show them on youtube. Thanks!
Pennywise: hey there homey. I got your boat...tie. I mean I got you a bowtie. Just reach out and grab it Homey: man get that shit outta here. Homey don't play that. ...and don't even think about biting me or I'll beat yo ass Pennywise: now everything mopes down here
Tristan Torrez … "yes do the math Einstein" … Try real math instead of the Common Core New Math they've filled your Millennial head with all these years …
They need to bring this show back! With the same actors and new one also! Man I would love this show again! I showed my daughter this and she showed all her friends! They loved it!
Fortunately most people on the show got too big for this show look at them Jim Carrey he's a millionaire now he's a big a big actor now, people on this show left the show became famous and successful they couldn't go back to that show but I do agree with you I wish you they could come back with the same people this show made my week better.
