Trash. I don’t mind albums like this, but from certain bands, not Whitechapel. Their songs used to come with a saw blade for your enemies, this one came with a razor blade for your wrists.
This album is in my opinion Whitechapel's greatest achievement. I've followed the band since the self-titled and listened to each of their albums many times, especially the Valley and A New Era of Corruption, but this and The Valley hit differently. Kin is a breathtaking, melancholic journey with so much diversity that keeps me moving. It's a rollercoaster of emotions and beauty. Within the darkness and melancholy in this record, there's that positive, shining light of hope, strength of will and passion. This is a genuine, unique experience. Whitechapel have evolved beyond the norms of the genre and created their own formula. This is the result of a decade of experimentation and progression. Congratulations on this achievement, Whitechapel and anyone involved in the creation of this masterpiece. 10/10 from me.
@@hamishholden2922 every one understands everything in there own way. Maybe this album speaks to him and his life, whilst missing yours. Metal should be what binds us together. So don't let your opinion allow you to miss the real meaning of the music.
@@hamishholden2922 Finally, someone that speaks the truth! I received a lot of negative feedback for judging this as their worst only because this not the Whitechapel i know and love. Sorry its not, i understand growth and what not but this is them trying to be more main stream. Its not for me but i am happy that they might achieve greater success, i have their past albums that i truly love.
In my opinion, this is peak Whitechapel. Absolutely outstanding album, Phill did an amazing job showcasing his clean vocals throughout the album. Instrumentally, its absolutely solid and packed full of emotion, i wish the album was just a tad longer. No complaints here, can't wait to see this stuff live!!
To each his own, but I don't see how this beats any of the first three albums (major label albums). End of Flesh, Messiahbolical, Father of Lies, Make it Bleed type stuff. But then again my fav bands are the red chord, TBDM, type stuff. Hopefully KIN grows on me!
@@chrisjansen1943 reprogrammed or self titled didn't do it for you? Messiahbolical is my fav song from Whitechapel. Been a fan since they were in HS in Powell, TN in 2005ish
Anticure is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Truly amazing. Whitechapel evolved so much, and you can hear Phil healing through the lyrics and singing from all of his past traumas. thank you for sharing with us all those deep stuff and allowing us to understand about your past, while creating art at the same time.
Been listening to this band for over 10 years now. And the evolution of their music feels like the most natural progression of almost any band. They're not forcing themselves to either maintain their old school sound nor does it feel like they're selling out with the clean singing. They were able to go with the flow as they've aged but also maintained sticking to their roots. Truly masterful artists as a band. 🤘🖤🤘
Seconded. I wanna add phil said he's always wanted to sing. Idk if he's just been practicing til now or if he just waited til it felt right. Either way. This is probably my favorite metal album. Top 3 for sure. So tight. So emotional. So heavy. Edit; have only even heard half so far lol.
I absolutely love the solos on this album. So tasteful and Melodic with just the right amount of technicality. Ben is definitely my new favourite guitarist in terms of leadwork.
That Era of this band is so good. They show more of their ability to write amazing songs. No genres. Nothing matters if it's good it's good music. Amazing work.
I lost my brother last year in January and hearing Kin just made me bawl my fucking eyes out. I never in the 10 years that I’ve been listening to them would ever think they’d make me cry. This was beautiful in so many ways. Thank you boys, whitechapel was also one of my little brothers favorite bands, he would have loved this so much.
I lost my twin brother February 3, 2021. Music helps me grief...but also gets me into that melancholy mood sometimes. It's cathartic even when it's not always a happy experience.
Just wow.. I said Kin was going to be another masterpiece and fuck, was I right. Every song sounds different from each other while still keeping the theme of the album as follow up to The Valley. I love this thing and so does my girlfriend who ive shown stuff but she usually listened to Death Cab for Cutie and stuff like that. She said Kin is album of the year and it sounds sappy but we both had a good amount of heart strings pulled from this one. Brought me to tears. Seriously, I was touched and realized i have stuff i need to work on myself and just keep pushing through the hell to keep it simple
@@blakemaddox3681 I agree totally, just used them as an idea of her music type haha. Death Cab isnt my cup of tea but they are good at what they do. Im going to see Whitechapel on their 2022 tour for sure
@@Jeremy-xc2jo gonna have to politely disagree there my man. Alex is awesome dont get me wrong... just kind of feel hes an awesome one trick pony at this stage of his career. Phil's had so much more time to develop and until Alex goes through his growth spurt it's no contest... at least that's how I hear it
Yeah, I'm F'ing Blown Away. Absolute Masterpiece Album. Since Bloodsoaked, I Have Played the Song On Repeat For A Month. Now I Have 10 More Songs.. Love the Way Metal Has Morphed Into This, Next Level.
This is it. This is the sound I've been searching for my whole life I think I found my new favorite album of all time guys, I genuinely do. This literally takes most of my favorite music elements and blends it all together beautifully over some of the best songwriting I've ever heard. Bravo lads 🔥🙌
Isnt it incredible when that finally happens?! I found that with Currents. Currents is that band, that sound I searched for all my life. And the vocals, lyrics i relate to on a spiritual level. I'm dying to hear news on anything new from Currents..that being said i recently finally gotten into whitechapel last year after not liking their older stuff before for some reason, now indo. And this album is so much better then i was expecting. It's oneof the best albums this year. and this year is Stacked! Im.nlw so excited for volumes, Imminence, silent planets albums this month!!
To anyone that hates this because it isn't purely heavy.. you're the Blumhouse of metal fans. No depth. No character. No progression. It's like a serial killer who kills because people need to die and old age isn't fast enough. My recommendation? Stop wasting your time hating everything and thinking anyone gives a shit that you're always angry. We don't. We REALLLLLLLLY don't 🙂
You think people who are not into metal have any idea that metal can be this deep? My whole life I've been told that metal is angry and about devil worship... but it's ok to play WAP on the radio that kids listen too. No hate against anyone else's art or preference of music... I'm just saying our preferences and sense of judgement seriously need to be put into question right now. Love yous all, stay strong
Been listening to you guys for almost 10 years now. Couldn't be happier with the direction you guys are going. Staying true to the roots and evolving at the same time. Beautiful
I'm a fellow Tennessean and metal musician and been a fan since the somatic defilement in 2007 and been to many shows throughout the years. Just wanted to put out there that this album blew me away and after just two listen throughs, is my favorite Whitechapel album. I could go on and on about the incredible guitar and bass tones and mix and the drums and the writing but I'll just say I got to listen to the album beginning to end on a beautiful autumn day drive through east Tennessee and was blown away. Absolutely incredible work men.
I’m an old school metal guy, I’ve loved these guys for a long time . But have to say the change up with the acoustic and the vocals are amazing, absolutely respect there “metamorphosis” as they grow. Awesome.
Seeing everyone compliment the hell outta this album makes me so happy. THIS is the culmination of a powerful and emotional story. THIS is how it's done boys. Fucking 20/10 album. I've never felt so emotionally attached to an album before.
Not everyone complimented this, a lot of haters who are crying about the fact this is no longer deathcore. I’m not one of em. This is their best album ever.
@@thelittleowl1 No, I know. Everyone here in the comments of this video that I've seen has complimented it. To the statement of "this is no longer deathcore", I say this is exactly what deathcore has evolved into! It is their best album ever.
@@RespiteofChampions I still stand by that this is more groove influenced death metal but yeah amazing record. Best album released this year. (Bfmv and trivium are the only other contenders). I love how one comment said “well done Whitechapel. You now sound like every other band”. The somatic defilement: am I a joke to you?
@@thelittleowl1 Well, yeah. A lot of deathcore nowadays, especially the big bands like Whitechapel, Thy Art, Fit For An Autopsy and even Shadow of Intent are all moving towards groove influenced death metal.
@@RespiteofChampions I haven’t checked the others out yet tbh. Will do so at some point. Tbh the only deathcore bands I’ve listened to are Whitechapel, Chelsea grin and suicide silence.
When I think of Whitechapels weak era, I think more mark of the blade and our endless war where they abandoned deathcore for slipknot and lamb of god vibes...the most boring direction deathcore bands go in. This and the valley are incredible. Huge step up from a production standpoint too. The self titled is still my favorite but man these last two albums totally reinvigorated my interest in this band.
Love this album....kinda has a tool/perfect circle vibe when Phil starts singing. Then goes right back into the typical whitechapel gnarly breakdowns. Fucking gold🤘
I had so many emotions while listening to this album and in the end it´s perfection. I mostly wonder why there are ninjas cutting onions but however this is 11/10.
Really special. I will find you and Kin are especially amazing for me personally. Solo in Kin is so perfect for the song, guitar sings like something you would hear dimebag play....amazing
This album entered into the world at a critical time. With the amount of corruption, suicide, drug overdose, alcohol abuse and domestic violence, Whitechapel comes out with a brutal album to keep me focused at the gym. You guys are my 2021 saviors.
Lost my Mother on October 13th 2021...worst days of my life. I was/still am a mess ,emotional roller-coaster,. Before her death I was listening to how a demon defiles a witch a lot since i know she was suffering and she was fighting her illness but she could not win the fight. Since this album came out, im kind of listening to it non stop and trying to heal knowing that im not alone in this situation.! Thank you for your music, i will cherish it with all my hear! May we have happier days in our future!
Not fan of there style change ,i saw them live right before covid there was no singing the whole show, now most of the album is all soft, melodic, good music yes, just not into seeing them lose there edge
@@knowon-cv6uf We all have different taste. I'm personally going through an MS diagnosis and this band has literally saved my life. They give me strength to push forward
@@Virvum_Juggernaut running your juggernaut must be like vaulting in track and field, but the first one is the last one and only ten inches tall. Shallow, boring, underwhelming, and benign. Christ, have an opinion or stop wasting language. I've seen puddles of piss that are deeper than your take on ANYTHING.
whitechapel's magnum opus.. i've seen you guys evolve since 2009. Saw you live once, wish I could've seen ya'll live more. Keep bringing that deep south heat.
The is a fucking masterpiece of an album and most definitely the album of the year for me. If an album can bring tears to my eyes it is great. This album makes me cry so hard at times. I feel like I can relate the the lyrics perfectly as they seem to match up with the rough life I have lived. Thank you for this work of art. Thank you so much.
I’m a bit late to this album, but it is incredible! The emotions, lyrics, and musicianship are top notch. I can’t get enough of this. Thank you for making this amazing work of art.
From This is Exile to Kin has been an amazing ride, been my favorite band since I first heard possession over 12 years ago and today I can say I’m so happy for these guys this is amazing🙏🏻
Fucking honestly! I fell in love with their first 2 albums and *STILL* love this new sound. Its different and more emotionally charged, its matured. Opposed to all the haters who still cling to the old angst they had back when they were young
Never listened to this band before but was curious after Lost Boy. This album is the BEST album of the year EASY! Absolute masterpiece. So much variation and emotion. I just can't pick a song i liked the most.

Squint your eyes to where everything’s blurry, the two heads turn and look at you. Once you see it, you can’t undo it. Album art/concept remind me of deafheavens new record.
Está buenisimo Dios mío, Whitechapel va en cada escalada con cada trabajo que saca, full sentimiento y el típico salvajismo desgarrador que los caracteriza, ÉPICO
This album feels like the finalized image of the sound Whitechapel has been moving towards since our endless war. It never feels like a second has been wasted when listening to this album. Every song packs so much emotion through the instrumentals, vocals, and lyrics. This is Whitechapel at its best.
More melodic than last time yet heavier than ever! It appears that bands have caught onto the trend quite well. The elitists will probably dislike KIN but little do those idiots know that not only do progressive tunes gather new fans but the overall tone of a record is made heavier thanks to the diverse spectrum of highs and lows of progressive record, i.e. Such records are heavier by default thanks to the variety of melodies and riffage.
The evolution of this band is amazing. The progression till this far is too brilliant. The album is emotional and relatable. Phil's singing is too good and you really can't hate this style. Absolute Master piece . Hail WhiteChapel
I cannot express how much I love this album. This is a pure masterpiece. And I say that as of the word "masterpiece" were rarely used. Such a fucking amazing album.
Been with whitechapel since the somatic defilement. Love all the albums and this is easily their best. Love whitechapel, been my favorite band for so long, and I’m so proud of Phil for putting himself out there telling his story.
I released my own solo metal album today that I was so pumped about, but I am not gonna lie, this is what has been the focus of my day instead lol... Absolutely haunting. Amazing work.
so funny story, the other day I went to a festival and there was a tent with band shirts that had a cool special offer called "mystery shirt" or smth like that. you could buy a black package for a discounted price and you get a random band shirt. I thought why not and got a whitechapel shirt that said "I'm alone, I'm miserable" on the side. I knew whitechapel from years ago because of phil bozeman who I always respected. but I haven't heard any of their recent stuff. so I looked up their latest album and now I'm here. and well I found a fucking masterpiece! I'm blown away. this record speaks to me on so many levels
I’ve heard old white chapel but I started with the valley, so I have a very unique look on this band. I think the reason people don’t like new whitechapel is because people don’t like new, they want their favorite band to make the same album over and over again, bring me the horizon is a great example of this. Everyone wants them to do another Count Your Blessings just like how everyone wants whitechapel to do This is Exile over and over again for the rest of their career. They want deathcore from white chapel so when people hear melodic metal with radio rock elements with the occasional deathcore part, they don’t like it, even if it’s really good.
“I can feel the Devil’s presence, He never left this house, Now I can live my Third Depth fantasy, Draw him straight to me, And drain every last drop from his arteries.” This mf SPITTIN’!
The solo in Kin goes full Steve Vai. I was blown away from this album. Knew of them before The Valley but both of these albums has hooked me as a fan. This is exactly what I was looking for in music and I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with next.
This is absolutely gorgeous! The emotional roller coaster ride from this album was insane! I take my hat off to Whitechapel. I’ve been a fan from day one and this album is so amazing! Phil’s clean vocals are jaw dropping! 🔥🔥🔥
This is easily Whitechapel’s most dynamic and emotional album to date. The increased emphasis on groove, soloing, and experimentation has benefited them greatly.
This is a masterpiece. I’m happy they went this direction and didn’t go the Slayer route and do the same thing for 3 decades. The guitar work on this is stellar. This is how you write and implement tasteful solos.
Dude if you listen to the reasonsing behind every song on the valley and kin your understand why he fucking sounds the way he does. He went thru some shit. Look thru your third eye. Shit will change your life
