My Grandpa dipped his toothbrush in a box of baking soda and brushed his teeth everyday his whole life. I don't remember him having any tooth problems, and he had all of his original teeth.
Must of been a lot of Fluoride in his drinking water or something then. It's only recommended to use baking soda twice a week, max. Maybe stop when your teeth is white again too. Keep in mind baking soda is an abrasive and it's basically polishing away the stains and a bit on your enamel each time you do it. You'll need to restore that enamel you polished off by using normal toothpaste with fluoride.
@@Kurry34 No fluoride in his water at all, they lived in the country and had well water. You can brush everyday with baking soda, it's not near as abrasive as half of the regular toothpastes with fluoride. The RDA for baking soda is 7, most toothpastes are over 100!
It works but it damages your teeth by brutally slashing you enamel off it’ll work but it will make your teeth sensitive to warm and cold stuff for a week if you live in Canada you will be in pain
The toothpaste must contain Fluoride, which is a natural mineral that helps to strengthen teeth against decay. And some toothpaste have Triclosan - a chemical that kills oral bacteria. Coconut oil if you hold it in your mouth 20 minutes without swallowing it and gurling it around it will kill the bacteria and decrease the chance of getting tooth decay
@@annaterzieva1205 Flouride lowers IQ 7%. It also calcifies the pineal gland. In large quantities it's a poison. Ask yourself, why would the government put flouride in the water? They want us to be healthy? If that were the case we would have universal health care. The feds are in bed with big pharma. Two heads of the same hydra. Illness is profitable & last I checked I don't have teeth in my digestive system. Would you drink sunscreen or eat chapstick? We can agree on one thing, oil pulling is a great way to reduce toxins that have developed overnight.
I remember about 20 yrs ago I was on a transit bus and there was this elderly man about 80. He has the most perfect pearly white teeth. He even had all this teeth. I asked him what is your secret? He said, baking soda. I was amazed.
@@zerotwo6707 once a day. Also I put 1/2 tsp of baking soda with a little warm water stir it up and use it as a mouthwash it's a great anti bacterial agent for the mouth as well. If someone has bad breath defiantly works. Hope that helps. God bless
@@matthewk4301 I don't use it as a toothpaste but you can. I used to just haven't had time. It is best with a little toothpaste and mix it up. The green gel toothpaste instead of white one works better for some reason. But I do use it as a mouthwash daily.
@God's Kingdom Councelor (Crystal) Yeah I certainly don't have time to use it as a toothpaste either lol. I wanna try it as a mouthwash. How many times per day do you use the mouthwash for? How long do you swish around the baking soda and water in your mouth?
Claims that baking soda is abrasive are inaccurate. The RDA value (relative dentin abrasion) determines how abrasive a product is for your teeth. The RDA value of baking soda is only 7, whereas tooth pastes range from 30 to 200 RDA, which counters these statistics against baking soda and its abrasive properties.
Yupp it's good for whitening teeth but do not do it regularly, 2 times a week is more than enough Doing it regularly if bad for enamel and can lead to sensitivity
Oh my goodness I am so thankful for this video, for the longest time I have felt insecure about the stains on my teeth and didn’t feel comfortable enough to smile and after one try of what he said to do in this video, the stains have come off and my teeth look better than ever! Thank you so much!
You can also use peroxide mixed with baking soda as long as you don’t have braces or some type of orthodontic appliance :) I’ve been using it for years as well as most of my friends and family since it works so well and doesn’t cause sensitivity! It actually helps with it. (Also coconut oil can help heal cavities believe it or not! It’s called oil pulling and it works as long as you’re consistent and doing it properly)

@@alexbrooks5838 I've used it off & on for decades w no problems. It tastes very salty so you might want to avoid if you have HBP. But it does an excellent job of removing tartar from your teeth. It does taste bitter & salty though. You do get used to it, eventually, well I did.
@@alexbrooks5838 It's not therapy. It's just brushing your teeth. I used it every day for awhile. Just put a little baking soda in a dish, wet your toothbrush, dredge the bristles in the powder, & brush as normal. It will taste awful but after you rinse your teeth should feel amazingly clean.😁
I’ve done this my whole life basically and always get compliments on how white my teeth are. I use whatever toothpaste I’m using at the moment, dip it in some baking soda and squirt in a little hydrogen peroxide and brush. No issues with my teeth at all.
@@ms.infjrnd6282 no, maybe a few times for the month, if I remember. Typically I do this if I feel like my teeth could be whiter or if I want that super squeaky clean feeling on my teeth. Hate that gritty feeling your teeth gets sometimes and this fixes that completely.
A dentist told me that hydrogen peroxide is harmful to teeth and can make them more porous. It lightens hair and teeth by stripping and REMOVING color, so it’s not whitening teeth in a healthy way.
Thank you Dr. Mandell. Baking Soda also works as a great Deodorant. Unlike many commercial deodorants it is non-cancerous. And remember whatever you wash down your bath & kitchen drains ends up in the oceans. And then we eat out of those oceans. Baking Soda is safe for you and the environment. When armed forces go on missions and are unable to shower for days, they use Baking Soda, in shoes, under arms, etc. It’s highly effective.
This is what I like about Dr. Mandel. He tells you the ingredients of the product to use, unlike some other doctors that selling their own mix and wants you to buy it from them.
Using a white bowl for this was a terrible idea... I cannot see what your idea of a "little bit" is. Guess I'll just wing it, doubt concentrations matter.
1/4 tsp of 3% hydrogen peroxide 1/4 tsp of baking soda 1/2 cup water Mix together and use to brush your teeth after using your regular preferred toothpaste. Make sure your toothpaste is flouride free.
Baking soda is not as abrasive as most think. Thank you for not suggesting lemon juice or something else ridiculously acidic that will cause sensitivity. Not sure why someone below said it will cause resorption and deterioration lmao... it most certainly will not. But it's the interwebs and people will believe what they want to believe.
My mom used to want me to use baking soda and lemon juice but I would run away and throw it away when she wasn’t looking but does lemon cause sensitivity because my teeth are sensitive

@@petersenior8735 I clean my teeth 20 years with baking soda and have good teeth. When you want to rotten your teeth, than use toothpaste with fluor. This is always by dentists recommended. The reason why? You will get more tooth holes so you visit the dentist more often.
@@petersenior8735 dentists receive kickbacks and freebie’s from toothpaste manufacturers. Baking soda is dirt cheap and does a better job than normal toothpaste. Plus all toothpaste manufacturers have their own (expensive) line of baking soda toothpaste.
@@bartobruintjes7056 they got me good too lol. Went to the dentist at eighteen they found a small hole in my tooth, said it wasn’t nothing and sent me on my way. Weeks later I’m coming back in to cap off a root canal.
This is what I heard from a dentist. The enamel is the outer most layer of your teeth and in most cases it's the most clear part which is why you can see through your tooth in certain areas. Now there's a layer that's beneath that where stains get built up over the years, when you use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mixed together the contents of both solutions actually soak into the teeth and start removing the stains hence why you shouldn't do it that often because it creates sensitivities the more you do it. They only consider it a temporary fix because stains are inevitable to your teeth, but if you can maintain doing this every few days to your teeth then it's actually a permanent solution to allowing your teeth to be as white as you want them. So your dentist forgot to leave out most of what I explained they say it only cleans some stains, but they also forgot to tell you the more consistent you are with it just like all things, the better your teeth will be over time, but avoid using it daily obviously.
Baking soda has multiple usages 👍 a great video highlighting a natural remedy to clean teeth. Normal toothpaste contains many chemicals harmful to us. It's a game changer 😁
⚠️READ BEFORE TRYING⚠️ You don’t want to do this, it scratches away The protective layer on your teeth (enamel) and YES, it will make your teeth whiter, but it will make your teeth sensitive as well! A better alternative is whitening strips or Hydrogen Peroxide‼️ Thank you for reading Edit: I didn’t mean to start a war in the comments, but I guess the children just want drama 🙄
I've done this at 15 years old a few times and destroyed my enamel. I'm now 27 and my teeth are super fragile and look a little yellow (caused by the fragile enamel). And now, I cannot use anything "whitening" on my teeth, because they could not handle it. You can never trully recover enamel. Not worth the risk.
Better to rinse with Bi Carb mixed with water. Get the same results, keep your enamel. They gave me a bottle of this in hospital it had mint in it. Excellent. Whiter teeth, nice breath, clean tongue. Cheap as chips. 😊😊

Squeak Squeak, Baking soda is a very bad option for whitening teeth, sure it cleans well, but baking soda removes/dissolves the enamel coating on your teeth which can lead to extreme sensitivity on teeth, instead you can make a paste by grinding kiwis, and cucumber and a lime, kiwis have a lot of calcium and has an acid which removes stains, and cucumber removes any bad bacteria on your teeth, and the lime is just to make the paste more fluid and to add a nice citrus smell to your paste, and you can use this paste to clean your teeth, it is what I use after eating delicious lettuce and grass. By the way, if you have a doctor's degree, you should atleast know this, P.S Baking powder is a better option

@@queenieburgers50 : LOL!!! I tried Sensodyne toothpaste for sensitive teeth and mixed it with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. I noticed that my teeth were getting whiter but eventually my gums became sensitive. I had to stop doing this. I now use the cheapest Colgate I can find and use it with baking soda. I noticed it has whitened my teeth a little. Then I went to a flea market and found Golgate Optic White toothpaste in a packet of 6 for $10.00, bought it and used it with baking soda, thought it would whiten my teeth faster, but it was too abrasive for my gums. Even the Optic White toothpaste by itself is kind of abrasive. I an going back to the cheapy Colgate and will keep using it with the baking soda.
I use to brush my teeth with this for years but This will clean my teeth but it did not make them white or remover deep stains from my teeth. Or it didn’t for me.
I use a pinch of bicarbonate of soda added on top of the toothpaste on my brush and brushes with it every morning. It's really effective in making your teeth white and sparkly. I have been using it for 1 and i don't see any side-effects.
So why are there rumors that baking soda is not good for brushing???! Can't stand when they say one thing and then another. Then they want to say we're stupid.
Baking soda vs other toothpastes is the least abrasive. I dont have the chart anymore but even though it is abrasive, it’s not nearly as bad as toothpaste
I’m a teenager and my teeth aren’t that yellow but I would like to try this only once to see or is that a bad idea because I watch a different vid and it said to do it one every 3 months so I think it’s fine if I do it but if someone can let me know that it is bad for me let me know
Yes do it for 30 seconds to 1 minute the rinse it out or u can add ur toothpaste to it and brush for the 2 minutes that’s recommended but only use the baking soda once a day u should see results depending on how much stains are on ur teeth in a few days to 2 weeks
