It seems like the backup singers are doing the bulk of the high notes. Dave just can't quite hit them anymore, but hey, still pretty good for a 70-something year old!
I have to take my hats off to Tommy Aldridge, the guy is like 72 years old and keeps hitting those drums like a beast, the guy is like a drum machine, but David’s voice is shot, he can’t sing the high notes anymore…
He's old but he still puts forth a strong effort. At least he still sounds like David Coverdale and his voice hasn't completely flattened and lost its tone.
Absolutely. Pretty sure he eats an extremely healthy clean diet to have that kind of energy and longevity. Pretty sure you'll never find him at a McDonalds, etc.
@Petercross yes a recording. Coverdale made that too obvious by singing on the background track. sort of takes away from the Whitesnake legendary vocals.
I was there. A very emotional moment at the time...and in retrospect too because it could have been Whitesnake's last concert (I hope not, for the Americans), now the tour is cancelled. Imagine that it was followed by Helloween. The best 2 hours and a half of my live experience.
@@thedigitalemotion I like a lot of Guitar players,, Gary Holt,Kai Hansen,Slash,Chris Holmes,,,an lots more,, But John Sykes,, just is something Special,, 👌
He's also in another band along with Joel Hoekstra, Marco Mendoza, Nathan James and Michael Sweet called "Iconic." They just released their debut album less than 3 weeks ago.
Really a lot of disappointing comments here re: vocals, Coverdale In his prime was a god among men has nothing to prove to anybody! Be glad he's still here w/ a great band giving us a final farewell.
Sykes was the man. Unsung hero, him. Incredible how under appreciated he is! Heck I am 56 and was an 80’s metal head and just learned it was Sykes on those great WS tunes just 5-6 years ago. Thought it was Vivian and Vandenberg.
@@DontLetTheOldManIn Sykes is not under-appreciated. Whitesnake fans do appreciate him quite a lot. He’s the best guitarist and songwriter the band has ever had.
I first saw Coverdale in 1990, first saw Vai in 1986 and first saw Tommy Aldridge in 1984. It's incredible that they're all still doing it live. Good for them.
The best guitar player we will ever see in our lives? Have you heard of Eddie Van Halen Jimi Hendrix Jimmy Page Eric Clapton or Stevie Ray Vaughan? Not to mention Joe Satriani who taught Steve Vai.
@@koolkitties8552 yeah the satch is my dude. But its like a good chef. There are many great chefs who specialize in differnt areas. And all their food is good. Thats my comparison at least. And your list is pretty spot on. 🤘
Aldridge is a mad man! Vai is nothing short of intergalactic, as always. Dave sounds a tad rough, tho. But, good to see them out on their last hurrah...........hopefully?
Wow what a great surprise to see Steve Vai onstage again with David! Love the Slip of the Tongue album with Vai on guitar. "Deeper the Love" is one of his best solos!
wow...awesome, legendary band of 80's....and they all still have super full heads of hair like they did when they were 30!!! long live R n'R, keep the faith alive 🤘🎸
1000% correct. Sykes was a monster, and it takes 3 guitar players on stage at once to try to emulate what he did, and it’s still not even close. Sykes is legendary.
true musicians and at this age it just shows ya what they are made of,, singing like this in yer 70's is damm near impossible, Vai well he is amazing as always
Even with Coverdale’s voice the way it is now I would rather hear it than most of the fake garbage coming out today. Vai and Aldridge are phenomenal. My question is, who is that badass bass player? Wish Rudy Sarzo could have been in the line up. Now that would have been incredible.
Too bad John Sykes doesn't get the credit he deserves for that album. He wrote almost all of the music recorded the record, then got fired because Coverdale got ill and Sykes wasn't at the hospital checking on him enough. Later they re-recorded with Vai and Campbell recording the guitar parts. Vai and Vivian Cambpell are excellent guitar players but John Sykes wrote the majority of that album.
