@@stevenbardsley2489 There is the technique and then there is the talent and the soul no dis to Doug fantastic player but he will never have Bernies soul and truth be told Bernie created this Doug will always be a copy David fucked up losing Bernie and John Sykes too of the best snakes ever
@Andre Sihotang_84 I don't think he could outclass his predecessor. Out-shred him perhaps but not outplay him. Bernie's a fine guitar player with a great tone and a lot of feeling and musicianship.
Bernie was the one who made Whitensake so famous !! Not only Coverdale ... he wrote a lot of the original Whitensake stuff ... not aldrige or any other .. he was the one who did !!!! Peace ....
I was there and had tears in my eyes when Bernie walked on stage. What would i give to see Messrs Marsden Moody and Murray play together with Mr Coverdale one last time before he retires and play all the old stuff.
Bernie is so cool. I just watched an interview Lee Anderton had with Bernie, in Bernie's house. He is such a good guy and his guitar skills are off the chart. One of the old school guys who can plug straight into an amp and get a tone that will destroy most modern players. It's all in the hands, head and heart, and he's got those in spades.
Brütal Löve - Funnily, I just watched that same interview with Bernie. He seems like a tremendous chap, and in this clip he's obviously having fun being on the big stage again. I see him at music trade shows like NAMM but have never approached him. Next time I will.
Best interview, watched it like 5 times :-). But the only thing i dont really like is that about plugging straight into an amp and getting a tone. I would never buy an amp if i would not get a good tone plugging straight in without pedals and other extra stuff, who would???
+HenkBenk88 But even Bernie admitted that the technology today is wonderful. He believes that everyone should strive to get a good tone without effects and all that, but it is so easy to get a great tone without having to spend bug $$$$ and that is nice. I don't have a big budget for guitar gear, so that really works for me. And the truth is that no matter what gear you own, if you fiddle with it and get familiar with it, you can sound pretty damn good. I am using just a cheap old Squier Strat with a Peavy Vypyr 30 watt solid state amp, and I can get a very decent tone. Now, that being said, it is nothing as good as a Les Paul into a Marshall JCM800, but for what I got into my rig, it is surprising how good it does actually sound. What are you using?
As i said, i really enjoyd that interview, and Bernie is a guitarist i really like, but some of that interview was kind of bogus. For example about his beast guitar "we have low volume, no pedals or nothing, and you can get a scream out of it". You can make an acoustic scream to if you know what your doing
The early Bernie Marsden era Snake is the only era I really like to listen to. Something about that early stuff really spoke to me, it had kinda a Thin Lizzy vibe to it at times, maybe like Lizzy meets Purple. Bernie's guitar playing I always found to be incredibly soulful and powerful. His solo on "Come On" to me was a perfect melodic rock guitar solo full of good phrasing and proper vibrato.
I see Bernie is packing his new PRS, Bernie Marsden guitar. I shouldn't have wasted my time with the guitar demos and come straight here, this is what I wanted to hear.
Absolutely lovely to see the love and respect that Cov and the whole band have for Bernie! And rightfully so! Quite moving actually. Also quite moving to think how many years have passed since this was Mr. M's 'day job'. We're getting old, ppl. Bernie Marsden = LEGEND! Keep rockin', Mate... \m/ (:o)
Marsden is such a sweetheart. Got to be one of the nicest guys in an industry full of overblown egos. And such a talent. He's not a flashy shred guy. He cares about the tone and expression from the finger and the instrument. And the chord changes and songs he wrote are seriously some high level musicianship.
WOW! oh 😳 my-- word , this song 🎵 ROCKS- This should be on every Classic rock radio's rotation! Totally forgot about this one, Fabulous, Just , simply, EPIC 🙄🎹🎸
I would recommend to anyone interested, check out anything the Moody-Marsden Band has done. Well worth the listen. Also the life version of "Malice in Wonderland" from Paice Ashton Lord with Bernie on lead.
Having said that, he stated in an interview with Lee Anderton, the Korea / SE is his choice because he. Wanted a great guitar to be accessible to everyone and PRS took a long look at The Beast especially the pickups and pots... So no surprise it sounds like his Gibson LP and an absolute bargain... Best bits of Gibson vintage and PRS design in one guitar. If I didn't have a gold top LP I would buy one 😊
@@Spartanm333 PRS SE guitars are surprisingly good. I've recently ordered an SE version of Paul Reed Smiths own signature model. Still waiting for delivery though. Not expected until late March :(
Sat in street in sleepy village where my dad used to have big house. There, in around '92 my dad had a party and Bernie played, I got to play with him! It was great.
Saw them with Lord/Paice/Moody at the Santa Monica Civic (1979 or 80?) from the second row...could not hear for 2 days after. Best Ritchie replacement(s) there have been, much more 'Purple' than today's joke!
Was given and still have a picture signed by both from a musician called sean pugh close friends of them both ..still treasure it today given to me in 1982 im 57 now ha ha ..
Respect David for bringing our for a jam one of your WS collaborators and well respected guitarist Bernie Marsden, that left an indelible mark on blues rock music forever. Peace man.
Saw early Whitesnake loads of times with the best musician in the world Mr John Lord, they all worked hard and trod the boards,a truly fantastic BRITISH! rock band, along with others we should be proud of our rock bands and salute them I do, for we are all getting old once there gone they are gone but there music will live on,long live rock and roll OH AND SIMON STOP USING THE C WORD
I did some crying here, but that´s ok! I have being watching some videos about Bernie lately and of course this came as a BIG surprise. GOOD surprise of course! So never mind some tears here. I absolutely love the respect and appreciation Whitesnake gave him. So cheers to RESPECTING people and cheers to Bernie´s playing. AMAZING!!!!! The more I learn and hear him, the more I like him as a guitar player. As a person, it was obvious to me since minute one that he was a nice soul. Good job Whitesnake and Bernie!
You can be one of the biggest rock stars like DC, or a blazing shredder like DA, but when the man who wrote "fool for your loving" steps on stage with his guitar.. You make way.. go BM \m/
Having not watched this for a few years, i have just spent the last (almost) 11 minutes smiling. I'm just loving the love! Nice work, one and all... \m/ (:o)
Ana Luiza Brown It does look strange, I absolutely agree. But when PRS offer to make you a signature guitar, if it's done right, it's usually going to become the new 'go to' instrument. The sound isn't that far from his old Les Pauls, so I'm not surprised he uses them a lot.
I wish I could find the video of Bernie's guest appearance where he and the current Whitesnake lineup perform Don't Break my Heart Again. I can't seem to find it anymore.
David sounds so painful! He had such a beautiful voice for so many years, but he blew it out! Sad! He's still a great showman and the guys all respect him. That's evident! I really miss the David of the good years! But I still love him!
Always liked Coverdale and Whitesnake, but have the CD of Moody-Marsden doing "Fool for Your Loving" and a couple of others with Bernie on vocals. Excellent covers!!! But considering Bernie was co-writer...
His signature model was only available as an SE Model. There was a very short run of US versions, but it was only a couple hundred. I own one of those guitars, and they're amazing.
These two guys just HAVE to sit together and write some music again. They owe nothing to anyone. They've proven their right to tell the world to fuck off. But God..........Please let it happend!!!! Thank's to Doug for the respect he's showing Bernie!!
Its weird but I've seen a lot of Bernie's guitar clinics and he nearly always sings Here I go again. He must really like that song. I also noticed that in this clip he sang the Americanised lyrics and not the original.
Bernie is such a badass. If you didn't know who he was and you saw him on the street, and someone next to you said "that's a rock star from the band Whitesnake" you'd be like "get the fuck outta here!"
Coverdale sounda like he has nodules... so sad...but it's age too....One of the most beautiful voices ever....Bernie is great, my favourite Whitesnake Guitar Player...he doesn't need to be pretty to be great!!!
And all the posing by the others, and Bernie blew them away. He didn't just miss the MTV success, he missed the awful image based philosophy of the late 80's. He got split writing for Here I Go Again, and he can sing better than David. Spare a thought for Sykes too...
Fer Fuck Sake - Whitesnake were Whitesnake with Bernie Mickey Jon David Don and Ian - Full stop. What a fuckin' class band you cannot get any better ..full stop .. London Calling ... full stop xx
Bernie Marsden "Working with David Coverdale again, both on stage with Whitesnake and having him sing on the album has been just fabulous, we have recorded a new version of "Trouble" and you will be very happy with the result, he is singing as well as ever, and the new version is a revelation to all that hear it!" Looks like he doesn't agree with you Keith Young
Paul Jacklin There's a big difference between singing in the studio & reproducing it live. DC know's he's knocking on a bit now, so like all the best vocalists (of his generation) they adapt. It doesn't always work & I have to agree with Keith Young. In a live situation, DC hasn't really got it anymore. It's not a criticism, just an observation. Having heard what he & Bernie have recorded recently, he has still got it in the controlled atmosphere of the studio.
