Whitney is the absolute QUEEN of improv! NEVER did she perform a song the same way twice...she was driven by her emotions in the moment and the people she was singing to. She lived for live performance and told a story every time she sang, no matter the song.
@@michaelasay8587that's the difference between the record, and a LIVE performance. During live performances, the artist gets to interpret the song as they feel it. From Frank Sinatra, to Elvis, to Aretha...to Stevie, the live performances always differed from the studio productions, particularly on the ballads. Which are often 'slower' in pace.
Whitney was anointed with song interpretation, stage presence, vocal diction, an angelic head voice with power and control all packaged in a model frame with stunning looks. There will be no other!
This is definitely during her prime, which I would count as the start of her career in the 80s to the early 90s, The one and only. Thank you for reaction!
George Benson did really good job on this song in 1977 do one want to reaction George Benson version love Whitney Houston version too beautiful soul great reaction ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Whitney’s live performances are phenomenal. I saw her in concert back in the late 80s and never have heard any other singer come close to what Whitney would do live. #GOAT Forever loved and always missed! RIP!❤️
This is the performance (which I saw when it originally aired) that made me a die-hard Whitney Houston fan! Perfection! Whitney deserves all of the accolades she has received and then some!
I love Whitney so so much and every time she performs Greatest Love All it sends chilling down my spine you have to hear her sing this live in Japan it’s amazing 🥰🥰💯💯💗
You should hear Denise Williams:Free, If you don't believe and Cause you love me baby and Black Butterfly to name a few. Angela Bofill: I try and I'm on your side.
I will say this again when Whitney sings you feel it and i know people with Minnie Riperton octives and all that, but Whitney touches the city of my soul when she sings. Songs like this you know she meant every word she sang. Well Done Jack!
You just scratching the surface of her live performances they are her secret hidden treasures! This was pre bodyguard, wait til you get to the bodyguard tour live performances she has so many that tour was 8 legs, I believe! Argentina, Brazil and of course South Africa and Radio city music all are all her top of tops to me especially radio music hall that's her voice at its top game before the heavy touring she did for 10 years after!
A wonderful performance indeed. Still, her greatest live performance is her doing "All The Man I Need" live during HBO's Welcome Home Heroes. Incredible, emotional and dynamic.
You should check out Glennis Grace from the Netherlands. Just take a listen and you will understand. Also "The Ladies of soul" that she often sings with. A true pleasure.
Yes!! Glennis Grace, one of the best we have in The Netherlands. Whitney is her icon, sinds she was a little girl. She can sing Whitney like no one else can. Look her up, she and the other Ladies of soul❤ you will not regret it. ❤
The music for this song, written by Michael Masser for George Benson, was stolen from legendary singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot and his hit sing "If You Could Read My Mind". After Houston did a cover of Benson's song, Lightfoot sued, later settling out-of-court after Masser admitted to pilfering the critical musical bars, because Lightfoot did not want Houston to suffer for Masser's theft. Here's the original by Lightfoot, which to my ear, is more moving and personal than what Houston sings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jiU2lrGnT7U.html
Her 88 wembley performance of this song was the better version but this was still a masterpiece. Gotta do that one as well as a song for you and I have nothing 93 billboard awards
This song was a classic for George Benson back in the 70's. I would take Phyllis Hyman, Lisa Fisher and Betty Wright over Whitney as the most awesome female singer in the last 40 years.
They are r&b singers and all of them are awesome and Whitney is a pop singer who was popular during a sad music era. All 3 are better singers and entertainers. @@avifalco
When I go to see a great singer, or watch a live performance, I can’t stand when the audience sings along and I can’t enjoy the singer’s voice. Whitney’s improvising kind of made it impossible to sing along, which I appreciate.
Why in hell you do not show the full screen of this performance? Do yoe want to show us your face? This is Radio on Video and no professionel reaction about this singer. The preformance is more than only to hear the notes, it is nessessary to see the body- and facelanguage.
