One of the most beautiful songs ever written & performed. Karen Carpenter is my personal favorite singer of all time, but Whitney is a super super close 2nd. I love how clear her enunciation is & when she flips that switch from subdued & angelic to in your face power, it's utterly mind blowing! Her range, tone, power, intonation, just absolutely amazing!

It seems that this particular track will ring true for infinity - that a healthy dose of Self love is something that's beyond precious. This song brings back so many memories and I almost always cry when I hear this. The lyrics are so true. It breaks my heart that someone that is so talented leaves this world too early. Let me clarify, it breaks my heart when anyone leaves this world too soon. I lost my husband when I was 31 and he was only 35. Our kids were devastated & telling a 9& 13 yo that their daddy was gone was the hardest task I've ever had in my life.

Once or twice in a generation, a singer comes along that moves your soul, opens up your heart, tears down your walls and sends a shiver down your spine, knowing that you are witnessing something so very rare and powerful..that all you can do is watch in awe. Whitney was one of those singers. I am sure you all can also name a few. Karen Carpenter is another. (special shout out to Mariah Carey and Celine)

It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.

Listen to Chaka Khan's song "Clouds" with Whitney singing background when she was 16 years old. In the 2nd verse you can clearly hear her "thunder is the warning, so dark so alarming". Her voice has always been phenomenal, but it got even better as she got into her mid-20's (probably more control & training). She was truly gifted. I love Jamie Fox's story of how he was at a party & she was there. She told everyone to call somebody & hold the phone up because she normally got $1M to do a song & she went to the stage just because she felt like it & sang her heart out with I Will Always Love You. He also said his sister (R.I.P.) went to a Prince concert & the next morning she was still sleep with her hand closed really tight. He pried her hand open & she was still holding the guitar pick Prince had given her. I imagine it's great to be around these once-in-a-lifetime artists, but also so hard to lose them when you knew them personally. Now Whitney, Prince & his sister are all gone. 💖💖💖

In the early days of karaoke in the US. I was in college in Boston and every single bar, and they are legion, had a karaoke night. Every single drunk girl thought she was Whitney Houston and this was their song of choice. It got to where my friends and I would place bets on how many times we would here this song butchered in the course of the night. 😂

I am often driven to a degree of sadness when listening to Whitney Huston. She was blessed with the talent, shared with her aunt, of an incredible quality of timbre and vocal range, probably amongst the ten best female voices in popular artististes of my lifetime. Yet, she constantly recorded covers, rather than original songs, and she died a drug addict. How sad.

It's so hard to love yourself when you have been in a destructive relationship, I've been out of one for over 30 years and just getting my self esteem back and I really like the person I am now thanks to my husband our sons and the mental health help I had for about 3years. I think it just goes to show. You could have all the fame and fortune in the world, it still wouldn't make you happy. A very tragic tale of a beautiful and talented woman. But I think we should remember her music, it's important.
