@Cookie-ep7yz I absolutely agree. In an interview that Kelly Price did, she said that Whitney asked her 'why you are holding back? Just sing like you know you can!' (the song 'Heartbreak Hotel' was the results)! Loved me some Whitney and was blessed to see her in concert live 1987. ❤🙏🏽
Oh Yes! They grew up singing in that church choir like Whitney 💖The Church choir singers always bring the 🏠 house down! Me & the Adult choir always shut down those back in the day Karaoke joints nobody else could beat us no competition, we were blessed with good voices and a very good choir director 😇🙌✨
Most background singer are more talented than the “Star”. Background singers support the act. Like anything else that is a support it MUST be exceptionally strong and solid.
Real Talk! Muse- ick how it's Done from the Bottom to the Top. We Need Some Fellowship 🎶 They Stole the Soul and then Sold Us Auto tunes On America got Talent ¿
Whitney always admired other women’s voices and let them shine. She cheered for everybody without jealousy. She knew the power to sing is a gift from God and I love her for that. RIP Whitney. Heaven has a great voice in God’s choir. You are missed. 💟💟💟💟💟💟
People don't know that most background singers can "BLOW!!!" Whitney, Mariah Carey. Vesta Williams (back up for Chaka Khan. So many other artists started out this way before going solo.
@homegyrl Yup! I believe he has 3 other sisters. I think they all sing, but I know Olivia and Andrea sang in a group with him called The McClurkin Project!
Whitney's mom & Luther Vandross were 2 of the best backup singers EVER! Cissy Houston backed up Aretha & Elvis/Luther backed up Bowie and other top singers in the Music Biz. Great Talents unto themselves.
@@rkeating9601 Yes, they did. Back then we worked to help each other. I found out recently that Roberta Flack was the reason Luther Vandross & Peabo Bryson got record deals. She taught music & voice also.
They was Jamming! Whitney looked Pleased! Her letting them shine! She was do unselfish ! Donnie McCkurklins sister though whew!!!! My God!! Like Bro llike SISTA!!!!!
I Live for the background singers in every lead singers line up. Thye put in the work just as hard as the lead singer and just like the choir they let is know when its time to sing, reguardless if we can 😂.
@Couture Leotards big old hug to you, 100% correct. Also, for the band, it really is the bass..or should I say the musician who plays the bass - man some lines, my fave song of all, Martha Reeves &the Vandella's HeatWave the groove of that whole song (I know I just jumped from singers, the bass to a whole song, sorry. I just connected the dots. in my head.😉
Afro-american church based singers mastered harmony like no one else's business. I'm always at awe over these singers' sheer vocal prowess. A blessing to the world. I wish to learn and experience this style of vocalisation some day.
The African American church is the breeding ground for musicians of all kinds. Mostly because there was not a lot of instruments. The responsibility to be a strong and sound singer was a MUST!
I love her enthusiasm and encouragement towards them. You don’t see that lot with back up singers and the artist. Talent supporting talent women supporting women. It’s great to see.
Now I NEED to see the full performance...THOSE harmonies! OMG. Whitney was so secure in her ability she was always happy to share the spotlight with others, she always like to help uplift others, bless her.
That's how you know a true superstar. When she can lean back and let her background singer get some shine. Whitney will always be my fav. I pray she has found peace in Heaven with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
