She was clearly clean for a few days before this performance. When she was using was when her voice wasn’t working, if she had a few days rest from the bad habits her voice was there. I believe that’s why Whitney was never bothered when her voice wasn’t working, she knew it would bounce back but she relied on that up until it was too late … love her though she is my goat
The female voice meets a natural peak around 35 and that was about her age here! NOT DISCREDITING THE BODYGUARD. She was amazing throughout her entire career, she was truly the best singer I’ve ever heard

This would be because she has had alot of rest between her shows in 1997 as the bodyguard tour took a huge toll on her voice after doing 155 + shows throughout 1993-1994 only doing a few shows between 1995 1997
Absolutely lol!!! Notice Nippy always going to SANG for Real when her sista Cece Winans is around. I think spiritually she connects to Whitney like no other, and all Whitney needs to be her absolute best, is supportive people around her!!!!!!! All Whitney needed was more true love around her.
Its definitely after 1996. Her tone is darker and heavier than bodyguard era. Even her speaking voice is lower at the end. But when well rested she still had the mid range chest power to pull it off and sound amazing
@@almightycovin7644 in the end of the day it is still my opinion. I think what my past self was trying to point out here is the note/key is higher than some of her 94 IWALY's but, 94 IWALY was and forever will be the best with regards to the technique Whitney used in singing.

Incredible!!! 🤩 Sounds almost exactly like she did on her Bodyguard world tour in '93/94! But then she had some real vocal issues on her 98 European tour, but then came back brilliant again (albeit sounding abit different) for '99 and the MLIYL world tour, which was awesome! She was truly a gift to the world.

She last singed the song full out in 1997. That day in Washington her voice was still the exact same! She only had a cold and her voice was tired from touring a couple days before! Actual fact! She never lost her voice till 2004. But last performed her songs like the way in 1992 in the year 1998......

During the preachers wife was I'd say when her voice began to get worse. You wouldn't have noticed this by this particular performance though. This entire concert sounds like it should have been from 1994. You're right though, about her just whitney album. Even on My love is your love, you can tell the changes in her voice. .
I would not even say that Whitney was not take care of her voice from 2004-2011. When she rested and did proper vocal excercises her voice did regain it strength and agility.
Javaris Adderly her voice lastly was good in 2001. One year later her voice sadly sounded horrible. But in 2004 her voice was really great! And in 2009/10 her voice was also really good. So we have to remember her as the queen of the queens! Her music and her unique voice will always be remembered
I know this is late but for the people who are surprised this is 1997 because of the tone of her voice, You people are now getting a glimpse into the late 90s and why it was so big and confusing about wtf was going on voice. From 1997 to 1998 Was a DRAMATIC change, IMO Whitney going from 97-98 was one of the most distinctive vocal changes of many famous singers. I always regard 1997 as the last official year of the voice. It was post Bodyguard and more matured‼️
I disagree. Her true prime was from 86-95(maybe 1996) but in 96 and 97she lost consistency with her breath support. There were nights like this that were amazing then there were some that below her usual standard. By My Love is Your Love her voice was thinner and more metallic but she regained her power and breath support consistency so in a way she entered a second prime from 98-00

Your mid 20s early 30s is the start of your new voice. “IMYBT” was released November 1990 & the Bodyguard released November 1992. Even Helen Keller could hear the subtle darker tone she had developed. She full on had a baby, and just like EVERY female vocalist her voice matured. Which is even taught in music class..... And again, did you mean to post that on a different thread or did you deliberately come here rambling about random aśś events💀. 1997 WAS THE LAST YEAR OF THE VOICE‼️In terms of reliability. You can simply flip back and forth from 97-98 and an automatic difference. WAIT!!! Going back to what you said, even you just full on supported what I said. “Lost consistency & breath support” THAT WAS THE FIRST YEAR WHITNEY WAS NOT ABLE TO FULLY RELY ON HER VOICE! And that came with a lot of “vocal saves” (Runs singers do when they don’t quite reach the note) All that said it has NOTHING to do with her singing at all. However 1997 was the last year Whitney could fill on perform all her songs in the original key. her singing “I Will Always Love You” is proof of that.

Performances like this are proof that Whitney could still deliver her old vocals but its not reliable. 1996-97 had some of the best performances of her career and some of the not so best (excluding I look to you) performances. I’m not judging her prime by her tone or range, I’m judging it by consistent vocal ability. Her voice started to transition into a permanent deeper mezzo soprano during this era and she needed time to figure it out. By My Love Is Your Love her vocals were clearly different but she could consistently give great vocals. Unlike 1997
