I agree, she never mumbled her words when she sings, both in live and recordings. She is brilliant, an extraordinary live singer i've ever heard and watch in my existence. Her and Karen Carpenters had the distinct voice and the clarity of their voices is out of this world. Whitney & Karen is by far has the most clear voices when they sing. And i love , respect, admired and misses these two ladies, to ever graces the stage with a voice that cannot be duplicated, not even before and mostly not even now.
Agreed! I've always admired the precision of Whitney's pronunciation. Many other singers should take note, especially Ariana Grande. Whenever she sings I swear I need subtitles on the screen otherwise I can't understand a word.

Let's be frank here, this sister knew no boundaries when it comes to singing, and this is just another example! This performance is so versatile, characterized by smooth,effortless transitions between head and chest voice, legendary tone, raw power, immaculate control, , sincerity and an unmatched emotive ability. This has to be one of her top live performances in terms of vocal expression. It has serious emotional appeal which when combined with her rich unmatched tone, tremendous range, control, and raw power, translates to musical genius! I must confess that at various stages of this performance, I am emotionally touched to the point of tears. This is understandable, as when all of the above- mentioned attributes are combined in a song, then the result is magic! The one thing that always amazes me with Whitney and which in my humble opinion puts her way ahead of other singers, is that she does not need any gimmickry or props to command attention. All she has to do is simply open her mouth and use her God-given instrument ( her voice) , as in this case. THe richness, fullness & boldness of her tone is what makes her set apart from any other artist. The clarity of her voice, the calmness, the control, the vibrato, that belts from low to high is insane. There is nothing like her. Her & Karen Carpenters is the only singer that affects me like no other artist can. Whitney & Karen Carpenters, whom i truly admired, respect . loved & truly missed. Nobody can duplicate nor copy them, not even before and mostly not even today. They can maybe try to sing and sound like them but they will never be absolutely be duplicated.
There are some wonderful singers today but not one of them have what this woman had and has. The power and anointing in Whitney’s voice is unlike anything I have ever heard and probably will never hear again from anyone. Her voice is stunning in every way.

Omi She was an excellent technician. Developed chest voice as well head voice. Flawless sense of ornamentation,exceptional vocal dynamics,phenomenal transitions etc She is the queen.
Her rendition of this song moves me to tears. It's so beautiful, it's as if this would be what Heaven sounds like. Whitney had the prettiest tone. Also, her pronunciation was clear when she sang.

It's really interesting that you describe her voice as angelic, because the first time I heard Cissy Houston's backup on "Ain't No Way", I pictured angels hovering in the air. Just beautiful.
