This is one of the *MANY* performances that shows why Whitney is so far ahead of all other artist. I’ve heard some so called vocal coaches say ridiculous things like “Whitney’s is good vocally but her technique isn’t as good as...” or “Whitney is good but she is all about power...” and Im in shock of their lack of vocal knowledge. Whitney owned every aspect of her range. And nobody was consistently on pitch like Whitney. And we wont discuss how Whitney was not going to lip synch like so many others. It’s her emotive abilities that only adds to her greatness. I have enjoyed your reactions and your musical knowledge. I want you to react to her rendition of I Am Changing (San Francisco) it’s audio only but on that night Whitney unleashed her vocal abilities to the max. Just for giggles, also react to an audio of a 16 year old Whitney singing Eternal Love..it’s frightening to know that at 16 she possesses such vocal talent. Whitney will remain the greatest of all time.
I fully agree! Funny you mention these “RU-vid vocal coaches” critiques lol they crack me up - they all use each other’s lines and say the same stuff with no education to back up their claims of being “coaches”😅 As for Whitney, yes she remains untouchable far above any other Singer past and present. She is the standard🎤🎶💝👑
@@hinderless5811 Yes she was. She could do things vocally that Aretha lacked-for example Whitney’s melisma and her agility especially in her head voice, Aretha had a very weak head voice. Again in her prime Whitney’s voice had no weaknesses. Whitney could also sing almost any genre of music: pop, RnB, gospel, Broadway, opera, jazz…Aretha could not. So yea Whitney is clearly so far ahead of Aretha vocally. Even their one duet-Whitney sang her part once and Aretha was not happy about how Whitney sang so she re-recorder her verses 8 times. When it was asked of Whitney, Whitney replied “oh well it’s Re-Re”. Whitney was so on pitch and consistent with her voice she recorded songs in one take, she also released songs once and was phenomenal. Her recording of Run To You, she was unable to speak but when the music began she opened her mouth and sang so beautifully that the producers and writers were stunned. I’m not some prepubescent person who was born in the 90’s, I heard Whitney’s first album when I was a sophomore or junior in college. I had already known how great Aretha was but I soon discovered that as great as Aretha was, Whitney was even greater. Her diction, her tone, her vocal agility her resonance and when I saw her live especially when she sang I Am Changing I knew that she was untouchable.
@@jobuck879 Aretha's celestial sound was always superior to all other secular pop singers, this includes Warwick and Houston. Regards agility, Aretha out-runs anybody, l've already explained this to you. Her runs spun out of her throat at such speed they are inimitable and have never been matched. Ask other greats at vocal melisma, Vanessa Bell Armstrong or Karen Clark or Cece Winans who all tried to emulate and failed, they will explain it to you. Just because Aretha was tasteful and used her gift authentically and didn't constantly exhibit vocal runs for the purpose of exhibition and overdo it like a Houston or Mariah and become thoroughly boring, her ability to speed run whilst at full chest belt is unmatched. Aretha could do a hundred different vocal shifts in one belt. If you need this explaining to you then you are obviously ignorant of her output. Houston is average in this department. every singer from Warwick to Cece to Karen Clark to Vanessa Bell Armstrong, four of the greatest exponents of vocal agility and gospel-style vocal melisma - all said that nobody did vocal runs and agility like Franklin. Another fact. Don't listen to me, if you want to learn and study why Franklin tops all major industry polls as the greatest pop voice, just listen to the words of all the singers you keep mentioning. Start with Patti, she's verbalised why Aretha was the greatest voice numerous times. Aretha sings all genres as well. You’re clearly uneducated and trying to act smarter then what you are. I've already explained to you that Franklin had this department covered also, she sang the jazz standards at Columbia better than anybody else had ever sung them. Fitzgerald and Vaughan stopped in their tracks on hearing Franklin's Columbia renditions. Vaughan never sang Skylark again after hearing Franklin's unmatched version. Aretha sang Opera “Nessun Dorma” in 1998 and was claimed the greatest once again. You’re not good at this are you 🤣
