Mariah has been getting so much crap about her voice and music in recent years. It's sad that a lot of people might only appreciate her greatness when she's gone as well. Her body of work is still unparalleled and we should all be thankful she's still here and making music.
Yea it’s dangerous. Whitney lost her way Bc her she connected her being with her voice quality. Although personally. I think Mariah wouldn’t do that. Bc she’s used to her voice constantly changing.
I believe that Mariah was 100% sincere. There are different levels of friendship...I have some friends that I talk to almost every day, and some that I talk to only a couple of times a year. Keep in mind that Whitney had issues with drugs and had a very complex life. Because of this, it was probably hard for a lot of people to be extremely close to her because when a person is dealing with those kinds of problems, they tend to keep others at a safe distance. Aretha Franklin was Whitney's God mother and even Aretha said that Whitney did not open up to her about certain things. Gospel singer Kim Burrell was believed to be Whitney's best friend towards the end. Whitney discussed her problems, even the drugs with her and she was the last person Whitney called before she died. Because she discussed her painful issues with Kim, that made them closer because it got real. I think Whitney's friendship with Mariah was more light-hearted and fun. I do believe they cared for each other and Mariah was being completely honest in everything she said.
Two musical allies of hers that she's been clear about in public forums are Whitney and Mary J Blige...and I like that. Women should love and support each other.
Mariah has never been fake. She's not taking J.Lo seriously but Whitney was her great friend. They have always been so supportive of each other so stop saying that Mariah had fake tears.
I always think that Mariah is an honest person, but she is not actually the kind of person that boldly show her true feelings to other people. She maybe has no doubt expressing anger or disappointment, but sadness and empathy are not something she is comfortable to show openly.
She's not being fake (we all know MC cannot act for shit) these tears were real she misses her friend, who wouldn't miss Whitney. Why would Mariah be fake with this?
For people to even claim that she is falsely crying is horrible. These were real tears, and even if they are fake, turning someone's death into an excuse to hate someone who has done no wrong is wrong of you.
sitting here with tears in my eyes. that was real. it's stupid fans on both sides that argue. two women, two friends, two divas...that's all that needs to be said.
I am a BIG fan of both women and i think they made a perfect duo. Whitney's darker voice compared to Mariah's lighter voice made the perfect combination, esp. in Prince of Egypt. They complimented each other so well. To me, Whitney is the biggest legend in vocals and her only match was Mariah. These ladies to me are one of the greatest, if not the best, vocal artists in all history. And this tribute was beautiful and sincere.
She meant that sincerely. It was very sweet. We were so lucky to have both Mariah and Whitney in our generations. That kind of talent is rare so to have 2 singers of that calibre, I think we were beyond blessed.
They were real friends....it was not fake. Her tears are indeed real ones. When they got together they were like home girls, old school girlfriends. People who are evil in their hearts are always trying to make something beautiful into something ugly because inside they are ugly. Maybe outside too.
Nice tribute. I believe Mariah is sincere here. Whitney is truly missed. Mariah and Whitney (and Janet Jackson) are my favorite female singers of all time. The Pop & R&B music scene is boring without these 3 women.
@@mrhubertlouis1 as she rightfully said in her 1995 song "Looking in": "they'll never know the real me". And this so why she's still around, she's managed to keep a small inner part of herself to herself.
Mariah Carey really spoke from the heart. Her tribute really moved me and I hope she knows how strong and brave she is to have been able to pull through while she was crying. I can tell how much she and Whitney loved each other. Rest In Peace Whitney Houston. 💖🙏🏽🌎🎵🎶
The only reason Mariah's "fake" to you all is because you don't know what real is. You hide behind a keyboard hoping no one sees your insecurities. It's sad to see such sick & fake people. Mariah this was beautiful. I'm sure Whitney (and the Houston family) enjoyed this. RIP Whit.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You tell em Girl!! This was truly heartwarming, and sincere. From one Legend of a Queen to another. We salute you Ms Carey And Ms Houston (R.I.P)
To all the haters saying she’s fake it takes one to know one. Clearly her voice dropped that shows a genuine sign or change in her emotional system and the way her lips tighten show signs of genuine insecurity trying to pull herself together. Y’all know absolutely nothing about body language or understanding anything genuine don’t even reply you fake and stay offline until you checked with both yourself and God. ✌🏻
It is clear that people (Americans) are conditioned to make everything dramatic. They had a true bond. Being singers at their level of success, it proves to be very difficult to create true bonds. Some of the people on the comment section are not considering anything....like Whitney Houston's family/friends, Mariah Carey's family/friends and all of the people involved in making the tribute possible. Think beyond your little, closed-in box!
You know what makes me sad, the fact that there are will "MARIAH VS WHITNEY" videos flocking up and around in RU-vid. What's worse is that people in the comments insult Whitney to bring up Mariah, and insult Mariah to bring up Whitney. Whitney even tried to stop the rivalries from even beginning in 1990, Mariah's debut year. Yet here we stand, 27 years later while Whitney is departed, and people are still putting these two best friends against each other. THAT is heart breaking to me.
R.I.P. Whitney Houston! Also, Mariah Carey is NOT fake. Years ago, I was expecting my first child whom I was going to name "Mariah." My niece called me about Mariah appearing at Tower Records. With just a few dollars, a black suit and necktie, and my Navy basic training portrait I caught the bus up there. A long story short, Mariah worked her way through the crowd and held my hand. My baby girl is in heaven with my mom ( she was aborted) but Mariah's BEAUTUIFUL SPIRIT inspired me that I just recently gotten accepted into film school!
No way, you were there for the signing of her release for Daydream at Tower Records ? That's a very unique story, but sad as well. I'm sorry for your loss
That’s amazing she would do that ur lucky you got to meet her. I’m so sorry for your loss. Ur daughter is with Jesus and I hope you get to see her one day. God bless!
She's very upset towards the end, and goodness when she puts her gaze towards the ground for a few moments as she tries to keep it together, she looks so beautiful,... Such a beautiful face.
i know those aren't fake tears from mariah, i love mariahs music and her voice of course and grew up with it, but sometimes she has appeared as a bit of a snotty diva, but...i can tell with the extra reflection in her eyes towards the end, she was tearing up...and she was being real.
Its hard to put into words, especially between the tears. All I can say for sure,God has an Angel that joined him tonite, with a voice that is as Heavenly sounding as Gods Heavenly House!!
anybody on here saying Mariah wasn't influenced by Whitney (a) didn't watch the video here where she flat out says it and (b) wasn't around when "Vision of Love" first hit the airwaves... that being said, both of these wonderful ladies have given us performances and recordings to treasure.
Mariah wasn't particularly influenced by Whitney, it really is debatable, she may have recognized Whitney as a talent, but as far as influence goes, Whitney had only 5 years extra in the industry. It's not surprise that they're both incredible singers.
I think Mariah's being genuine here. Were they the best of friends? Can't say, although I'm guessing they weren't. But being so-called rivals, they had a unique bond. They were two of the best, if not the two best, voices of their era. And with both of them possessing so much musical talent, they must have had mutual respect.
The Queen , The Voice, the Greatest Singer of all time is one end only, her name is Whitney Elisabeth Houston, but thank so much Mariah, you are a very very good end powerful singer... end I believe in your sorrow for our Nippy!
one thing she said I believe is true; if you really knew whitney, you'd love her. i'm not a whitney fan [or Mariah either] but I always felt she was real. and comical. that's what I loved about her.
Nobody can top mariah or whitney and definitely cant top their duet When you believe is a sing that is needed today. This was a failed beef the industry tried to start between them Thank You whitney and Thabk You Mariah
This is definitely a real emotions coming out from Mariah Carey, Whitney was like a big sister Mariah never had . You can tell both enjoyed each other ‘s company .
Okay, to all you saying that “oh, her tears are fake, her emotions are fake, etc.” You guys are DEFINITELY no better than her, if anything. How yall gonna go around with that hate, and seriously? using a LEGENDS DEATH to hate on another legend? You ppl are just SICKENING. Also, you guys don’t have the ability to correctly judge her. For the most part she is sincere and YOU guys were never in THEIR specific relation so who are YOU to judge? Stop following what the majority of ppl think/what the media says. You see here, there’s a poster that says “What’s popular is not always right, and what’s right is not always popular.” Well, now is that kinda time where that quote is useful and TRUE. Mariah IS NOT FAKE and she poured out her WHOLE HEART in this message. These days, the media tries so hard to make her seem so evil, but yet she’s actually very insecure. Think about it, why would she get a GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY FOR BODY WEIGHT LOSS? Answer? Cuz she was so insecure and couldn’t think straight because of people like yall. Also she is pretty much a terrible actor, so if she WAS faking it, it would be MUCH more obvious, but no. this is mariah. this is true. Also funny how it’s the MEDIA always trying to tarnish a stars image until they can’t handle it anymore. Then, the fans who mocked the stars WHILE they were alive start to be “the biggest mourners” of that star...REALLY? is this who we are gonna be? shallow af people? We already lost SO MANY LEGENDS. Mariah, along with celine are our only popular legends left. TREASURE THEM. If you are one of those fake asses, don’t even bother kissing up to them when they are deceased. This might be too late, but rip whitney, thank you for that marvelous touching speech mariah. Both of you are the BEST singers ever.😭💔💔❤️💖
I feel really sad as well because I get the feeling that Mariah is left out by Whitney. It's like she's saying that she's not complete without Whitney. No wonder she cried singing Without You live that day.
To add onto the comments about cutting Mariah some slack, and her being fake ... What do you people want from her? Think how hard it is being vulnerable like that with one person - now picture being that vulnerable in front of MILLIONS of people. And knowing its being recorded, AND you're being watched like a hawk with people dying to judge and critique you. I'd say she did pretty damn good. Now, I'm not a Mariah fan - at all actually. But cmon. Credit and fairness where it's due.
Whoever said this was fake shame on you God the Lord will one day look down on you for that mistake this isnt fake Mariah was almost in tears so shame on you
Im not a fan of Mariah ...but she seems to be a nice person inspite of what other people may say about her because some people were upset with her when mariah wouldnt acknowledge the black side of her...but anyway i dont wanna gwt off the subject...this is WHITNEY MOMENT...im glad mariah carey said what she said..shes a BEAUTIFUL person as well.
These are some of the foulest, saddest, and most disturbing comments I have ever read on You Tube. Rene... what can be done for you? Just so sad to hear you going on with this rant, and for shame to the people responding to you. To all of you, whether you are a Whitney fan, Mariah fan, or fans of both.. Please settle yourselves... Dignity is not your middle name.
These people are unhappy unachievers, they insult people because they feel little , they have a complex. It would be an insult to even aknowledge them. For the sake of the people whom they are insulting ignore them
There will always be judgmental, hyper-critical people. Bully mentality -- always looking for a victim. "I feel like crap about myself -- let me find someone else to target so I'll feel better about how shitty my life is." It's very sad. But people do see their remarks for what they are; commentary from a bitter, unhappy person. I'm not a Mariah Carey fan, and still I didn't judge/belittle her after watching this video. Who are we to judge how she feels? Are we mind readers?
Did you know? Whitney's rendition of "I will always love you" is a completely different interpretation than the original country style of the original sung by Dolly Parton.
They actually where really cool but u can only imagine how much they had in common.....cause they both are amazing singers they respected each other....
This is so sad. First Michael Jackson and then Whitney Houston. I also feel sad for Mariah Carey cuz if I'm not wrong, she knows both of them and she had to go through all of that, she must have felt painful. R.I.P Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. One thing I'm kinda glad about is when and after I was born, Whitney and Michael were still alive(I think they died after 10 years since I was born) but now I'm sad that I didn't really know them cuz I was a kid. I also don't really know them cuz I'm not American. I mostly knew Michael Jackson cuz I've heard his name before. At least I can be proud of them, their songs and voices and be proud that they were still alive when I was younger although I didn't get to meet them. I'll appreciate that.
J Holo she was a good friend for Michael since he was the first person she went to after tommy matola was so bad to her, she must have been absolutely heartbroken
Thank you for posting the entire clip here. What a nice tribute Mariah did for her friend, Whitney. Like when she said things did get a little "Divaish" just for laughs. Love them both! RIP Whitney!
