All people sin. Sin is bad. Therefore-All people are bad. During the pandemic I went through all the coffee cans of nuts bolts and screws because of the lockdown. Once that was done I went back to work on my Jeep. In old jeeps all the bolts are rusty and the threads are pitted. In that project I didn’t have to run out for bolts because of going through all those cans and sorting out the nuts and bolts. Anyway once I sorted them out I put them in those parts cabinets like you showed in the video. I did so much work there while isolated that I still know where the stuff is in those organizers. I also learned to look first before running the hardware store. Now if I do go, I buy more than I need to save future trips. I’ll stop now because my arm is sore from patting myself on the back. Nice chisel. I love your side eye dog, by the way.

I won't venture a guess as to what percentage are bad, but I can tell you how to tell if YOU are. And it's the truest statement I've ever heard. "Who you are when no one is watching, is who you are."
@ROD59
@ROD59 25 дней назад
John as a cop of 26 years is very difficult to answer that question since it's very broad and not specific, bad is a general term most people are good in nature and even if we all are capable of good and evil the percentage of doing bad things as a whole in society is small so is the reason that at any given day there's a few officers patrolling when there might be thousands and thousands of citizens in any given city. With that being said, it is so complicated because it is also divided by communities some communities are more prone to be "bad" due to their upbringing , morals and culture .

John, for labeling the catch-all drawers, i use small post-it notes. Cut to fit, if needed. Write on the sticky side and apply from the inside of the drawer. Use different colors to identify/group similar type items. Clean surface with isopropyl alcohol before applying. Bonus tip: use small size post-it notes as insert labels for hanging file folders. No cutting required and the adhesive keeps the label in place. Again, use different colors to identify/group similar type subjects.

Those hardware drawers are a treasure. I have had a hardware compulsion since I was a boy. I used to collect all nails, bolts, nuts and screws when I was walking to school or out with my friends. I always gave them to my dad who was an engineer. He graciously accepted them and it wasn’t until I was about 15 years old when I found he was tossing them into the garbage as soon as my back was turned. He’s been gone now for over 20 years but I still collect hardware from all things I dismantle. I recall building sites were a treasure trove for hardware until the politicians made it compulsory to fence off all construction sites. Thanks for the memories.

I stopped watching the news 7+ years ago, so my brain didn't explode, but I have heard there's around 50 serial killers in the USA all the time. I would say the percentage of bad people would be 5% with all the women and children that go missing every year. Beautiful restoration John.

You did a great job on the chisel! As far as bad people and being a former New Yorker I would say 10 or 15 years ago the number would be small but in today’s day and age people just don’t respect each other and property so I would say here in the Northeast it’s about 20% or maybe more.

New sub to the channel - glad to have found it... I'm a woodworker but love restoring old tools, weather they're for machinery or wood doesn't matter. Got a big backlog of vids to watch here!! I've definitely got the "tool collector" gene. To answer that question in the start, I actually agree with old Google, I'd say around 5% or less! That percentage changes based off where one is from... I'm from a decent part of town in Alabama and the folks here are plenty nice.

I'm seeing a lot of good people up north where i was born and raised since the flooding last Friday. My original little hometown of Westfield Pa was hit hard as were the little towns around Addison, New York where i spent my later childhood years. A lot of my friends and family in the twin tiers of Tioga County, Pa and Steuben County, Ny lost everything and the communities have really turned out to give food, clothing, shelter and basic necessities to those who lost everything. It kinda restores my faith in humanity and makes me proud to come from such a wonderful place. The chisel turned out great John. Nicely done

Those different size corks you found, especially the small ones come in handy when spray painting things with threaded holes in them. Our painters in the shop used them to plug the threaded holes so they wouldn’t get gunned up with paint. Nice job on the chisel. And btw, I still have that same hardware set from US General from 45 years ago that you were showing.

ScoutCrafter, 0.01%. I remember when it was common to nail the lids of baby food jars under a shelf and voila you had a place to store odds and ends. For cub scouts a piece of peg board, a couple of pieces of wood, and a few baby food jars, Voila!, you have a gift for Dad. It lasted a lot longer than an orange with cloves. Today I use moist dog food containers and plastic peanut butter jars for odds and ends. Bob

My guess is that we grew up with similar ethics. My dad used to say that the two types of people he hates, and that's a strong word, but he said he hated liars and thieves. Right now we are living in a time where a criminal leader lies 9n a daily bas8s, almost by the minute! Then he's followed by cowards that go along with the lies. So 15% pure bad liars, 25% that know truth but lie or make excuses for lies. Then 60% that are good. As far as what some folks consider parasites. I know a buskers. For those who don't know what that is, they're Street performers. She plays musical saw in the subway! She takes donations but spreads more joy in one day than many others couldn't spread in a lifetime. Is she a parasite! Nah! Anyway, you asked. There really is a lot of bad that people just don't want to acknowledge! John, you are a joy! My dad would have loved your v8deos just like I do! Thankya Sir!

Hey señor Juan, humans are opportunistic and gregarious. Most people would not do bad stuff, but if the opportunity shows and there is no reprecotions, people would break all rules. If the opportunity shows and there is a bounch of people and it means "nobody is guilty or every is", then anarchy is on sight. By the way, half of the serial killer you show, were in the service, Ted Bundy was in the scouts, Gacy liked to dress as a clown to visit kids in hospitals, Richard Ramirez was trained by his cousin who saw action in Vietnam as part of the green berets. Ed Kemper's mother used to work at the same university her child was killing co-eds. Saludos señot.

Thanks John, an interesting question and the answer depends on the definition, I'm going to go with 2% but there are a lot more quite unpleasant people out there, who just need half an excuse to become bad ! You can have hours of fun rooting through a hardware collection, I'm re-organising mine at present, I try to avoid too many misc groups as if you're not careful that's what it all ends up as ! That chisel was an unusual shape, much more flared than many, your clean-up transformed it.

Bad people are bad because they are cowards. When they were little, they became afraid to be emotionally close to people, so anything that reminds them of being close, they cut that off right away with all their bad behaviors. Upsetting others becomes their way of ‘connecting’ to other people. Good people are good because they connect emotionally with others. And that feels so good, they don’t want to risk losing that by being evil. Evil people have nothing to lose by being evil.

I have nowhere near the collection that Reggie has. I do have the basement storeroom with a great many labeled divided drawers. Lydia bought me a label printer. I have labeled two complete workshops with it. Lydia has labeled files for the Sisters Pof St Joseph at Nazareth, MI. She was the receptionist, Activities Director, and bookkeeper. Good and bad are subjective terms. People we agree with are much more likely to be placed in our good category. Since we are all sinners we carry the seed of bad behavior. It only needs a bit of inattention to sprout. I like to think that the 97% number is a good description of the world. I try not to be too critical of people as long as they are trying to do the right thing.

Good/Bad is not a binary situation. I think we all have some good and some bad. The duality of man, so to speak. I try to be kind and unselfish but I have not always been that way in every situation. There are, however some people who are bad all the time. Sociopaths, narcissists, murderers and molesters... I think (hope) that those numbers are relatively small. Maybe they're not. ☹ Good lord that chisel is beautiful. I know I say it often but you are SO DAMN GOOD at using that flap disc. Love the transformation.

Where we are, there are lots of green spaces, and garbage cans & poop bag dispensers, and a lot of dogs to walk. There are a few people who let their dogs poop anywhere and don't bother picking it up. There are a few people, like me, just pick up poop, our dog or not. What really bugs me are the scads of people who walk right past the poop and other trash, and pretend they don't see it. "Not mine, not gonna touch it." Maniacs! We might have trashy neighbors, but that doesn't mean the neighborhood needs to be trashy, right? So, to answer your question, "goodness" in people is distributed on a bell curve; a few really bad outliers on one end, a few good outliers on the other, and the vast hump in the middle full of people who don't much care for anything that's not themselves. They're not actively bad, but not putting out energy for others, either. And good job on the chisel. You're the maestro of the flap disk. Your poor 1x30 is feeling lonely!

It's sometimes difficult to judge who is good and who isn't. I sometimes have to remind myself that just because some people don't believe or think like I do, it doesn't make them bad. That said I live in a small suburb that's pretty safe. However I am only about a half an hour away from the people's republic of Portland, Oregon. I stay out of there as best I can, unfortunately the closest big airport is there. My meter is likely skewed because of how close I am to Portland and because the last 10 years of my career in the fire service we had more than our share of calls caused by bad people. I'd say 10-15 percent are bad people🤷‍♂️...

I could spend hours going thru that bin of pieces parts and sort and clean and just enjoy the buttons off my shirt doing it, each time you open a drawer is like a mini Christmas, all the little presents you get. Bad people in the world, I would say at least 10%, but even they are contaminated with some good!!!!😮😊 thanks for the video, enjoyed watching.

Great turnaround on that chisel. I think 5-10% of the people are bad.

That chisel looks beautiful. Alot of people would have tossed it when they saw that broken tip. Those small hardware cabinets are indispensible to stay organized. Like clamps, you can't have too many. The police numbers I've seen suggest 10 percent of criminals are repeat offenders. My observation is that people are touched these days. I agree with you about oval head screws. They are cool hardware, and also harder to find these days.

I have boxes like that that are not labled and they are an irritation. That said there might be only one or two indenticle items which makes harder. As to good people, 80% for the first month. Law and order gives a veneer of civility to most people. Once that is gone for a prolonged period then watch out for even the other 80%. There are reall yreally bad people and there are really really good people who would give a stranger the shirt off their backs.

As a cop of 30 years I’d say 20% of the population is bad

We are all bad, according to Gods Word. But we are not as bad as we could be.

95% are bad, that's being kind. Some aren't "real" bad

I'm glad you referenced the bible, since it says that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". We all have the propensity towards evil. What percentage are "bad"? Who is to determine?

What percentage are bad people...........I say 100%, none of us so equitable as to be near angels. If it is the real bad or badass, then that is very small........about 0.1%. The chisel came out wonderfull.☘

All people are good and all people are bad. It is a matter of integrity if the person on how much good or evil, to allow themselves to be. This changes with circumstances. such as a very good boy who wouldnt hurt anything or do any wrong suddenly finds himself in a foreign land being shot at for no other reason than that he is there, may well accept more and more evil as it becomes his new norm. When he comes home he is unrecognizable as the good boy who left for boot camp and is only seen as the monster he has become.

Bad by behavior or by intention? By behavior, maybe 15-20%. By intention, 3-7%. Over my life I’ve often learned that people I felt were mean spirited, and did unkind things, actually at their core were decent people. Misguided, abused, manipulated, unloved, and so on - they cope and react inappropriately (behavior).
