@Vinoo Patel.....I am from Chennai. I can say with 100% certainty that a vast majority of South Indians have no idea who the Parsis are. For a typical South Indian, TCS will be the first thing that comes in his or her mind when you say Tata. Refrigerator will the be first thing that comes in his or her mind when you say Godrej (because in the past Godrej was a big name in white goods in India before Samsung and LG came to compete). The products they produce are sold are over India, but culturally and socially they are so detached from the South. Many of the Parsis in this video talk about how much famous Parsis have contributed to India. That left me baffled. What have these Parsis done for Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana? Please bear in mind that when you use the word, India you are including South as well. There is no historical connection between Parsis and South.
@vipp113
@vipp113 3 года назад
@@Bostonite1985 . I don’t quite understand the point your are making. Me, you, parses, Muslims, Christians and Sikhs are all Indians before we are from east,south,north or west. One way or another Parses have contributed to south , may be less so than other part of India. But you can’t blame them on that. That is how our great country is, each part is important on their own and with their unique community and their business specialty. Grow up my friend and see India as Indians and not south, west, north or east.
@Bostonite1985
@Bostonite1985 3 года назад
@@vipp113 ...India is politically a country. But culturally it is not. It is a continent. That's why the call it the Indian sub-continent. That's my point. Please don't get confused between the two. For example, Korea maybe geographically closer to China and Japan. But culturally, all three have nothing in common. The same goes for Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao. They were French colonies once. They are neighbours. But culturally are have nothing in common.. Just because the Indian flag flies from north to south and from east to west, it does not mean that we have a lot in common apart from being citizens of India.
@vipp113
@vipp113 3 года назад
@@Bostonite1985 . I see what you are saying but India as a subcontinent we have more similarities across the country than differences culturally speaking not politically. That is the beauty about India. But going back to initial argument what has Parsies got to do being not famous in south India. There are lots of things which are famous in south that other parts of India does not know. The fact is that Parsies as a minority has contributed a lot towards the well being of modern India as a whole than any other minorities. Put it prospectively among other minorities and you will get the idea and that is the very reason of my initial statement.

Hi bahador, nice to see you here bro :) I wanted to ask u , are sumerians and mesopotamians the same?
@TheBollywoodCritic
@TheBollywoodCritic 3 года назад
@Bahador Alast Parsis have both Indian and Pre-Iron Age Iranian ancestors. They dont have the same ancestors as Persians, which is what you guys are. You guys have different Persian ancestors. Parsis are also mixed heavily with Indian blood, and have Indian mtDNA and haplogroups and are on average 16-20% Indian by DNA, just like upper caste NW Indian Hindus and Sikhs who live in India. When Parsis came to India, they married the native low-caste Gujarati women that they found when they landed in Gujarat. Over time, they continued to marry outside their community, to prevent inbreeding related diseases and to find female brides due to gender ratio imbalances. As a result, Parsis have Indian-specific mtDNA, Y-DNA, and Indian specific DNA from the native Asians of India that is not found in Iran. Persians dont have these mtDNA haplogroups or Indian DNA and they havent lived in India for over 1,500 years nor do they speak Indian languages like Parsis do, or follow Indian culture like Parsis do. How does that make you Persians the same as Parsis? Parsis are very different from Persians, both in ancestry and heritage and appearance and culture. Parsis speak Gujarati, eat Gujarati food, have Gujarati surnames and first names, follow large parts of Indian culture, have been living in India for 1,500 years, and have married fellow Indian Gujaratis and Marathis as well. Parsis are Zoroastrians and have very different ancestry from modern-day Persians who received additional admixture from the Caucasus after the Iron Age. Also, Parsis are mixed with Indians now. If Parsis are Persian, then so are Hindu Jatts and Khatris and Sikh Jatts who have the same amount of blood from Native Indians in their DNA. Parsis have nothing to do with you guys in Iran. BTW, you almost look like a low-caste admixed Hindu Indian, and your wife looks like a Hindu Khatri Indian. You will barely pass as an Aryan Hindu Indian. Are you representative of most Persians? Because many Persians look like you, and you almost look like a commoner from Pakistan or Indian Punjab. There are also Persians that are much less ethnic in appearance than you, just like some NW Indians. On the other hand, Hindu Aryan Khatris and Jatts look like this on average: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8nZFqTUxy0.html

One of my most memorable experience with parsis was at the iconic cafe Vohuman in Pune. We often used to visit that cafe for a bun maska and chai. One fine day, we ordered the bun maska as usual. The person taking the order said that the bun maska was not available for some reasons. The owner of the cafe was an old parsi man who we fondly called as bawa( all the foodie punekars know used to call him bawa out of sheer love towards him.) He used to sit on the cash counter. Anyways, since the bun maska was not available we settled for a cheese omlette and a chai. While leaving, I casually said kya bawaji aaj bun maska nahi mila. Bawaji instantly replied, "kal aaja dikra, free mein bun maska khilaunga. (Translation: We didn't get our bun maska bawaji. To which bawaji replied "come tomorrow, I will give you a bun maska for free) So the next day we visited the cafe as usual, ordered the usual bun maska and went to the counter for paying. To our sweet surprise bawaji recognised us and his words. He didn't charge us for our entire bill even though we insisted to take the money. Unfortunately bawaji passed away a couple of years ago. But that particular visit will always remain iny memory. The day bawaji passed away, there were hundreds of people outside the closed cafe to pay the last respects for our beloved bawaji.

@Bostonite1985

@Capt Vyom.....I am from Chennai.
@Bostonite1985
@Bostonite1985 3 года назад
@Sam ...I said..."I can say with 100% certainty that a vast majority of South Indians have no idea who the Parsis are."..These vast majority are those born and brought up and living in South India. Not those in Mumbai. The whole of South India's population is around 250 millions. Mumbai might have around one million South Indians including those born and brought up in Mumbai. They may speak a south Indian language at home. That's about it. But they are basically Mumbaikars. In my previous comments, I was referring to people born and brought up in South India AND living there.

@@Bostonite1985 nonsense. I am from assam and I know very well about Parsis. Have them done anything specifically for northeast? No. But am I cribbing about it? No. If you always have this attitude where someone has to do something for you to gain your respect then it's a shame. We cannot think in fragments. We should think as INDIANS. Be it the contributions of the Parsi community or an Olympic medal we should ideally see it as Indians. But yeah, if you want tk continue this south-north civil war then be my guest. Us from the northeast will just observe and laugh.

They are still considered refugees hence the name farsis, the people from modern day iran *Faras" . Parsis became rich only after the advent of British and their colloboration in opium and silk trade in China.

AVESTAN is d holy language of zoroastrianism of their holy book *Zend Avesta* nd also many books r written like their *Gathas* were written in dis language nd is a sister language of vedic sanskrit. Parsi is referred to them bcoz they came from *Pars* province of ancient persia. Similarly, there were Parthians,Medes,Sakas who were again iranian groups. *SANSKRIT* : _tam amavantam yajatam_ -> *AVESTAN* : _təm amavantəm yazatəm_ ; *SANSKRIT* : _mitram yajai hotrabhay_-> *AVESTAN* : _mitrəm yazai zaothrabyo_ ; *SANSKRIT* : _suram dhamasu savistham_ -> *AVESTAN* : _surəm damohu səvistəm_ ; *SANSKRIT* : _yo vo Apo vasvis yajate asuranis asurasya vasisthabya hotrabhayah_ -> *AVESTAN* : _yo vo Apo vahvih yazaite ahuranih ahurahe vahisthabyo zaotrabyo_ . 😁😁 This is a trend where any word in sanskrit containing *s* , *h* becomes *h* , *z* . Sindhu-> *Hindu* ,Asura-> Ahura, Sapta-> Hapta,Manas-> Manah(Mind), Hiranya->Zaranya(gold), Medha->Mazda(wisdom) nd many more similarities. They also have daeva(bad) nd ahura which is opposite to vedic culture nd their main supreme God is *Ahura Mazda* represented as fire nd d creator but also not denying d existence of other deities/natural forces like *Vayu,Mithra,Yama,Veerataghna, Anahita,Varuna,Haoma* . About 95-97%similarities shared with only change of phonetics nd some words. *Both r sister languages* . Here is another very famous nd Important Zoroastrianism prayer in *AVESTAN* : _asəm vohu vahištəm asti. Ušta asti ušta ahmai hyat ašāi vahištai ašəm_ -> *VEDIC SANSKRIT* : _Rtam vasu vasistham asti. Usta asti usta asmai syat rtai vasisthai rtam_
