How was the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming created? How did the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes come to live there? Module 2 of the Wind River Reservation Education Project at windriveredu.org/.
I'm from Northern Ireland and it saddens me to what the Europeans did to the Native people of the Americas. Why do people choose to invade other people's lands and try to change their culture. God bless all the tribes and reservations of the lands of the Americas,
My mother in law is an enrolled member, they provide nothing for her as she does not live on the reservation. This is sad because the tribe near us goes out of their way to make sure she has adequate housing, rides to appointments and can participate in their services, medical etc. My husband gets 150.00 a month, no other services. They need to step up and reach all the members of their tribe.
Very euphemistic descriptions of the settlement of the west, and the persecution and often massacres and cultural genocide of native peoples that came with it. But still good to see a focus on Wind River.
Do not be PC, be honest, there is still tension even today between the two tribes, certainly not like 150 years ago when they were outright enemies but the tension is still there, two separate tribal chairman positions etc and the reservation has a major crime issue worse than most by far and that is in part due to far less tribal LEO's per person than other reservations typically have, no commitment to law enforcement. You cannot fix problems unless you are honest and admit they exist.
