Herman and Sam from DragonForce composed the guitar parts for this song and performed them for the studio recording. Good ear! If I remember correctly, Herman and Sam made the guitar parts to be faster than normal because they assumed the song would never be played live BUT BABYMETAL ended up being asked to play it live for a metal award show and had the DragonForce guys perform it with them! LOL🤘🦊🤘

This ^^ It was written ‘with dragon force’ The three women are Babymetal. The band is called the Kami Band. I’d highly recommend listening to them now. Their voices have matured. In this there is Su Metal (lead), Moa Metal, and Yui Metal. Yui had to leave due to medical issues. She has been replaced by Momo Metal.

The recap of the lineup nested up neatly by timeline: 2010 SuMetal MoaMetal, YuiMetal, Original Trio. 2018 Yui leaves for health reasons. Su and Moa continues alone 2019 The Avengers, a group of 3 unnamed backups rotate in Yui'a place (avegers have been identified as: Kano, Riho, and Momoko) 2023 MomoMetal, one of the avengers, steps in permanantly in Yui's place, and is now a part of the Main Trio

I'm Japanese. Thank for your reaction. BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁 And they are already adults now. The vocalist is always selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal world.😍

Because Babymetal are not a guitar group but vocals plus choreography it has enabled them to collaborate with other bands, most recently Electric Callboy and Bring Me The Horizon, with great results. It pays to forget sny preconceived notions of how a metal group is traditionally set up and enjoy a unique experience. They aren't the most successful Japanese act internationally for no reason.

"We are .... BABYMETAL!" Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊Sorry, I think this comment will be far too long (thought I'd best say that in advance so you can skip it if you want to). Sounds like DragonForce you say? No coincidence and no need to be suspicious that it was plagiarism or anything - Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocals & dance), Moametal and Momometal (official title scream & dance but really backing vocals, harmonies and leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in with their interpretive choreo). Su and Moa were founding members in 2010 with the third original girl Yui or Yuimetal (she was in this video). They were 12 and 11 years old. Yui last appeared in October 2017 but had (undisclosed) health issues and announced she was still not fully recovered and had decided to leave to follow her own dreams 12 months later in October 2018. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers (the Avengers) who would take turns dancing, but not singing, in the third spot. From about March 2020 there was just one Avenger left - Momoko. On 1st April 2023 Momoko was finally revealed as the third official member of BABYMETAL (Momometal) and got her microphone. You may have no interest in dance ... yet. I was exactly the same, choreographed dance had no place in metal, it even annoyed me in pretty much any other genre too - pointless jumping and mincing round, used to fill the stage or to give me something to watch to take my mind off bland music. BABYMETAL's choreo serves at least two real purposes: 1. It is interpretive, bespoke for each song and relates to the meaning of the song or a lyric; 2. It is designed to involve and include the audience, to get everybody joining in and becoming part of the performance. There is no band with better crowd control than BABYMETAL. Now I see other bands standing about, maybe jumping or running about if I'm lucky, with their guitars etc - all those things I was brought up on and enjoyed watching at concerts for decades - and now it all seems a bit same-y, even dull and repetitive. They all do the same things. Maybe they'll all line up for a group headbang with their feet up on the monitors now and then. Since discovering BABYMETAL and their choreo I somehow wish other bands did the same. Strangely I still feel exactly the same as I did about any other form of dance - it all seems pointless and even annoying. I don't think I'm alone, but maybe it is just me. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). They don't just do concerts, they do whole performances and put on a show ... and the audience is always a big part of the performance. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. BABYMETAL are pretty much unique in that they invented their own genre and nobody has been able to do what they do (some have tried, none came close). BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too. The instrumentalists are called the Kami Band. Kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in their live concerts - which is why they were in traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint. They are not, with just one known exception, involved in writing the songs or recording the studio versions. Since late 2017 their robes are black and since 2019 the corpse face was replaced with masks (everybody prefers the face paint). The Kami Band are among the very best session musicians to be found in Japan, each one of them a world class musician. They all have their own bands and projects so when one is not available another musician will step in. There have been many Kami Band members over the years, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of shows - in this video you saw Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Since 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians - guitarists Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin or Ryan Neff on bass and drummer Anthony Barone) have supported BABYMETAL on the lengthy foreign tours (nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries last year). Videos like this are usually taken from the BluRays - BABYMETAL are the main focus, they are the show, so you won't always see lengthy shots of the Kami Band playing their guitars. Go to see the live shows and you can watch them as much as you want, they will be right there in plain view ... but these girls have such a presence on stage I would bet you'll be watching them more than you'll be watching the Kamis ... along with the rest of us.

Great first reaction. There is one thing I always say to new BM reacters. Throw out all of your western preconceived notions of what a band should be like. You'll enjoy music alot more. Many first timers always focus on the musicians, who wrote the lyrics, who wrote the music, and how much of a 'manufactured' group they are. Nope, throw all that out because this is Japan, and they don't do things the western world does things. The musicians are called the Kami Band, and they are a group of session musicians that get swapped in and out. The three girls are Babymetal, first debuted in 2010 under the umbrella of a jpop idol group Sakura Gakuin. The lead singer was 12, and the other two were about 10 or 11 years old. The producer, Koba-metal, brought together a singer with a powerful voice that can cut through the heavy music, brought together some of the very best session musicians in Japan, talented music and lyric writers, and created a new genre called 'kawaii' metal (cute metal). Others will chime in with the more details about the individual musicians. But I hope you will continue your Babymetal journey as they are nothing you will have heard elsewhere. their live shows are among the best on the planet. Edited: Holy smokes, I left out an important aspect. Mikiko MIzuno as the young choreographer who has had NO metal music experience had to come up with choreo to match the music.

Thank you for your wonderful comment. Many Americans say that "Rock was born in America, grew in England, and was perfected in Japan." There are many diverse rock groups in Japan today. @@user-fl9jd4jo5hI wouldn't call yoasobi rock necessarily. It's kind of pop and rock mixed together with some EDM. And Japan tends to perfect, but not originate, many things. It's a cultural thing I think. If you speak Japanese I might be able to say it in that language.

I was sorry you got so hung up on the Dragonforce vibes. As you've already found out the reason for that. Herman Li was quoted as saying they wrote the guitar parts extra complicated cause they knew they'd never have to play this live. Then when it turned out they did he said they worked their butts off to get it right. Yeah, Babymetal is the three yount women-here 17,15 & 15. Their "band" is known as the Kami Band and at this stage were a group of Japan's top session musician's. Nowadays the Kami's are primarily top American musicians. The original Kami's were quoted as "We love the girls. Because of them we play stadiums and tour the world". The then young Babymetal said "We loved the Kami Band when we were out there we felt protected and safe and knew they were always watching out for us." I had t paraphrase a little but that was the gist of the quotes. Through the years there have always been songs that give the Kami's featureed spots.

Yes the women are Babymetal. They started without the money for a backing band. They later added the Eastern Kami band. They have a core group of musicians, but substitute in replacements as scheduling dictates. They latter added the Western Kami band made up of American musicians. They have something close to 10 collaborations with other bands over the past 10+ years, so don’t be surprised to hear similarities at times.

I'm 47, discovered them late 2022, was extremely confused yet fascinated, blew through their entire history and catalogue, and last year my wife and I saw them back to back in Houston and Dallas and holy cow it was mind blowing! Even being older now, in their mid 20s, they have even more energy somehow! Their hard work, insane stage presence, and infectious relentless energy inspires me so much. They make me smile and laugh and feel young again! They also have some VERY positive messaging. In Dallas we were very close to the stage and they did so much personal crowd interaction its so fun! Their stage presence is something you can feel, and Su was always a great singer but now shes legit superstar top tier level, especially live! No two songs sound the same. @@teckreactions Not really acurate, the Kami Band for years were rotating cast of 3 guitarists: Mikio Fujiyoka, Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus and Aoyama Hideki and BOH on drums and bass. They would be replaced only on extremely rare occassions if one was unavailable. It was a close group of session musicians that often play together on various projects. Once BM tours got really time consuming another band consisting of Anthony Barone on drums and 3 members of Galactic Empire band was introduced to support US and European tours and seems to completely replaced asian Kami Band by now. Ma point is, the intention was to have the same band supporting them. Unfortunately since introduction of western musicians management hides them behind masks, so the audience wouldn't notice they are not Asian and they are barely featured on live videos and don't interract with the crowd during shows like the asian Kami Band used too. Both the girls and session musicians are just performers, with the girls having only credits for lyrics of 2 songs and Leda Cygnus having credits for guitar parts of few songs.

Welcome to Babymetal! I’m sure you got tons of info from us crazy fans lol. I’ll just say this: you can’t approach Babymetal the same as you would a “classic metal band”. They are 100% manufactured group fusing J-Pop and heavy metal. If you give them a fair shake, then you’ll come to understand, as I have, why they’ve become so loved and have had the support from legends such as Rob Halford, Metallica, Tom Morello, Rob Zombie, to name a few. If you go down the fox hole enough, you’ll appreciate their genuine love for the genre and their “organic” growth, despite being a stigmatic “manufactured” group. Producer Key Kobayashi is an avid metal head, stuck in the J-Pop idol industry. He started a passion project to revitalize a dying metal scene in Japan in 2010, by fusing J-pop and metal, which became Babymetal. So they were formed as part of a talent agency idol group, had their team of song writers and composers, etc, much like a pop group does.

@@teckreactions You could be asking how was Ozzy Osbourne metal when it was other people playing the metal ... or Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Corey Taylor, Phil Anselmo and pretty much every other vocalist whose instrument is their voice. What is the difference other than BABYMETAL are 3 girls - all vocalists who also dance? It is a question that was put to bed over 10 years ago. BABYMETAL just don't fit into the imaginary boxes people have - they don't even fit into just one genre - they do power/speed metal, Prog Metal, thrash, djent, black, death, folk and so on, but they will also mix and blend JPop vocals and aesthetics (including the dance of course) as well as Latin, Bollywood, EDM, rap and so many more musical styles and genres. They are metal - just not as you may know it. They are original, innovative and unique and they do things their own way ... which is actually a very metal attitude - they don't play by the rules that some people seem to have made up about what makes something metal or not.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. Yeah, Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar parts and performed it on the album. Babymetal are the three young ladies, and they broke the door down for Japanese rock in the west, and they are huge, the most successful act internationally Japan has had. The band is indeed session musicians, but it's like in the model of Nine Inch Nails, which has a small pool of musicians they pull from to go on the road. They are teenagers, Su the lead singer I think was 17 here, and they are in high school at the time. They have since grown up. Check out Monochrome (live version) or their current hit, a collab with Electric Callboy, Ratatata, which is on top of the charts for all music, I think #3 on Apple play.

Why talk yourself out of it? As you have undoubtedly already learned in the comments, there are reasons why they do things the way they do them. BABYMETAL - expect the unexpected is the best thing I can say about them.. they do what they want. Their songs cover just about every style of metal you can name (death, prog, speed, whatever) so no song is like any other. The other thing about them is their massive fan interaction - the concerts are about an immersive experience - not just about some guys playing guitars and singing. Also I noticed your Sleep Token tshirt. This anthemic song was played in almost every show in their 2023 tours in North American, EU/UK, Asia and Australia. (And several times in USA/Japan this year) The audience reaction is always similar to what you saw. In your video, Su-Metal shouted some words at 11:50 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile, mild and matured voice that I love 😍

Babymetal is the girls. The band on this clip is the Kami Band. In the beginning BabyMetal had studio musicians that did the records and the shows. They wore skeleton costumes that covered the face, so you could never see if the same musicians were at a different show. The Kami Band was hired at some point as their band, and toured both Japan and overseas. After one member of the band died, they decided to only do the Japanese shows, and other musicians play the overseas shows. They need, and find amazing musicians to play with them. Most of their songs are written by several people that do not perform on stage. This one however had guitar parts modified and arranged by Sam Totman and Herman Li of Dragon Force. They also played on the album, and at the first live performance. After that the other musicians learned the song. And as you can see, they are very talented.

Babymetal touches on every type of metal. It is sometimes called kawaii metal. They have worked with Dragonforce, Rob Halford, Joachim of Sabaton, and most recently in their new release with Electric Callboy, Ratatata. That song was just released last week. Yes, they are primarily about the ladies, but the backing musicians are always incredible. They have fun, almost pop songs, heavy death metal songs, and even a song that reflects Dream Theater's style of prog metal. It takes some listenings to realize how good the band really is. They were the first of the internationally known, female-fronted metal bands out of Japan.

Babymetal fans are so nice, me, not so much. For someone who claims they are into experiencing new music, you sure bring a lot pre-conceptions as to how things should be presented, what elements are acceptable, even the name. In doing so, you completely miss the magic of that night or how three young girls, who had worked hard for years on their craft at this point, enraptured 22,000 souls. By continuously referencing the simularity of the music (while making faces) to Thru The Fire And Flames, one gets the impression you made the assumption it was pirated. The producer of Download, after seeing them at the Sonisphere in England, said that they were very good, but they were not what the festival was looking for and that BabyMetal would never would play in it. When Dragon Force found out that they had been banned, they brought them on stage during their performance and played a song with them. If you want to react to something a little more recent, check out the live official video of "Brand New Day", a song they collaborated with Scott LePage and Tim Henson 5 years ago, but this was the first time that Scott and Tim played live with Baby Metal at Fox Fest in Yokohama, Japan in 2024. And it is in the same venue where they recorded "Road of Resistance". You will see the difference between then and now. Su, the lead singer is now 27 and has been singing in competitions since she was 6 years old. She has one of the most powerful voices out there today and her voice has matured beautifully and she can handle any type of song or style. I saw them for the first time on September 15th, 2023 in NYC. I'm 77 and have been following rock since the late 1950's and they are like nothing I have ever seen before. Baby Metal is a true multi-genre group that have used influences from other cultures and has collaborated with artists from Joakim Broden of Sabaton to Dragonforce to Polyphia. I'm also a huge Band Maid fan and have seen them 3 times here. The music scene in Japan is electric, whether it is rock, metal or jazz/funk and they put us to shame.

Thanks for this reaction. I see a bunch of comments who tell only half the story. I'll try and clear up some things and make it more nuanced. The producer that kicked this all off, used to work with bands, but music by bands like metal music just all got shoved out of the charts by J-Pop idols (in part because some of those companies found a way to break the charts, sort of loop hole in the rules) and the producer was asked to work at the kids division. And in part like in the west, rock and metal have become less popular. He noticed a 11 year old talented singer, with an unusual loud style of singing. So he thought, maybe, just maybe he can take her and have her be the lead singer with loud metal music he loves. In far chance and hopes that this could make bands music, especially metal, more popular again in Japan. He told his management about this idea and obviously (because bands music like metal wasn't making money) they told him no, to much of a financial risk, any investment would with a high likely hood be a loss. Even he himself was very unsure if this would even work. He also kept asking others for advice, including a former CEO of the company and he said: if you are passionate about this idea, try to do it, otherwise you will forever be left wondering. So he made sure he kept himself close to her, so when the moment allowed for it, he could do his project idea. And it actually did happen. So eventually he was allowed to do it as part of an other project and without the company investing any additional money. They started out with just 3 girls and a backing tape, building up a fanbase and re-investing money from merch and tickets into Babymetal. As he didn't have a marketing budget they released an MV on a shoe string budget on RU-vid, a platform which used to be a lot less popular in Japan than in the west. And Babymetal got a bit of a foreign audience and little girls doing metal kind of went viral in a small way and a couple of videos later, they had a MV go viral in a big way. By then they were already doing some what bigger shows with a live band. So they went on their first world tour, the girls were just turned 15 and 16 years old. Because of their western popularity online they ended up being put on the mainstage at a metal festival in the UK: Sonisphere (2014). Which made metal and rock music press publish a bunch of articles, spreading it further. When people say phenomenon, that's Babymetal, their are unique, started their own sub-genre of metal and an element of viral success. But the only reason why it all works, was because of talent and so much hard work of everyone involved. It worked, Babymetal has become a metal gateway band, supposedly caused sales of metal music to go up in Japan, sales from Japan for both foreign and domestic metal bands. Babymetal because they are girls, well young women now, (some TV news program in Japan claimed) 1/3 of Babymetal fans are girls/women and it's definitely higher percentage than most metal bands. And because of all this and their unique and surprising... setup, Babymetal sparked a wave of interest in the west for Japanese bands. Some of those in the west were like: "but they don't play any instruments", so people pointed out: "well, groups like Band-Maid, etc. so" this was a huge boost to bands in Japan getting a western audience. There have been smaller waves before in the 90s or whatever, but the Internet really helps get an international audience. Babymetal's highest charting album in the US (a country known for having mostly English speaking acts in the charts) on the rock/metal album Billboard chart: #1. Which is a first for the whole of Asia. And they have a lot of records, especially: youngest artist to perform at venue X and venue Y, first every Japanese act to perform at Wembley Arena in the UK (2016), etc. Babymetal is a live performance power house, that's their main thing. In some sense the music is the sound track to their live performances, at least I feel that without seeing a video, just the music, a large part of the Babymetal experience is missing something. That doesn't diminish the love fans have for the live musicians, etc. Until recently last year, the band was less into view in Blu-ray's released and fans were complaining about it. Not showing the band seems to happen more often for a new song, because they want to show of the new performance of the vocal point of Babymetal. Babymetal also pretty often does collabs with other bands they like and even started to organize their own festival in Japan to showcase other bands. And they also got a lot of recognition from well known metal artists who understood what they are doing and thus showed themselves taking photos with them and not talking bad about them. Because, Babymetal got lots and lots of haters, as you can imagine, 'pop group doing metal' is not your average metal band. But Babymetal has again and again proven themselves to be amazing perfomers, gaining respect from a large part of the metal community. And a guilty pleasure for 'haters', who say: "they aren't metal", if they aren't metal, they are clearly the loudest pop group in existance. they also got recognition from the other side, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are fans, Lady Gaga even had their on her own tour in the US as an opening band for 4 shows. Babymetal's lead singer is known for her 'pipes'. It's not easy for these kids (at the time) gaining the respect of the metal community, but they did. There are lots of vocalists who don't play instruments, but are very well known and respected. So why not her too ?

@@Ryujin170 Actually, maybe I can add some info: Koba isn't and doesn't want to be the center of attention. I don't know the quality of his playing, he was in a band as guitarist, from what we know, probably nothing special, the band name isn't even known. If they even released any music at all. He doesn't use his own playing for Babymetal studio recordings of songs, but he sometimes plays guitar when they are working on a song. He did do some studio work for the very first Babymetal song Doki Doki Morning (they didn't have the budget) but he said he doesn't really remember if any of that was included in the final version. What is also interesting: an other member of the that band he was in he had invited at the first real own Babymetal show, at Rockmaykan in Tokyo, basically to show what he has done/created/working on. Turns out, this guy is 1 of the guys involved in Summer Sonic festival and was so impressed he really wanted Babymetal to perform at festival. But the girls in Babymetal were busy during the festival with Sakura Gakuin things, so it was a scheduling conflict, so he organized that Babymetal would perform at the comedians stage, which is near the food court, not a real music performance stage. Thus allowing Babymetal more freedom when to perform without causing scheduling conflicts for other bands (setting a record of youngest performers at the festival, even getting some free PR because of it). Just search for: Babymetal Summer Sonic 2012. Babymetal over the years had come back multiple times to perform at Summer Sonic and in 2017 they performed main stage.

@@autohmae OK, you did know. 😊 The only reason I mentioned it was so you could rebuff any comments about Koba not being a metalhead because he worked at Amuse. I know I've already had elitists come at me with teeth bared for daring to refer to Koba as a metalhead. I managed to shut them up. I wish I had known this bit of info then, it would have helped. As far as I'm concerned, if you're learning to shred like Malmsteen when you're a kid, you're going to be way better than your average guitarist. It just shows that Koba could have been a rock or metal performer if he had wanted to, but probably didn't. Oh, I know he doesn't want to be in the limelight; he is more camera shy than bigfoot. It's this and Japan's culture of privacy that make some facts about Babymetal seem like myths, and some myths sound like facts. Some facts about the groups origins seem to be unatainable even after 13+ years.

I get the impression (perhaps erroneously) that you think that BABYMETAL has "ripped off" Dragonforce - you couldn't be more wrong. Herman Li and Sam Totman was good enough to collaborate with BABYMETAL in writing this song. Since you yourself said you were going into BABYMETAL "completely fresh" and you "don't know anything about BABYMETAL", perhaps it would be good not to leap to any conclusions about them. It has been said that one should take in three or four BABYMETAL tracks before coming to any solid conclusion about them. Just sayin'. Point in fact: they ARE teenagers from high school . . . well, teenagers, anyway. 😁 BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (along with suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" or simply "The Yui Era": Doki Doki Morning (official music video) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cirhQ8iLdbw.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic Iine! I have been a fan of them since 2020 and seen them live once. I feel like their live shows are more like a theater or musical. Shows have a lot of elements of storytelling and they use props in some songs, moving platforms, dancing, crowd interaction and so on. I thing it makes them really interesting to see live and thats why people always say that BABYMETAL is best seen live. Road of Resistance is good starter song. I would say that next Rondo of nightmare from 2014 Budokan Black Night. It's one of those live performances where it tells a story, there is a moving platform and the lights are very theatrical. If you want to hear their most complex song, it's Tales of the Destinies. Only performes once at Tokyo Dome in front of 55000 people. Very Dream Theater kinda song. If you want to hear their most heavy song it's maybe something like Sis. Anger or BABYMETAL DEATH. Both are very different styles and different kind of heavy. BxMxC is also pretty heavy but more like a hiphop song. Now that I think of it, the heaviest song is 100% Sis. Anger. If you want to hear their most fan favorite songs, they are propably in my own experience Headbanger (Live Legend 1997 Apocalypse), Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live Sonisphere 2014), Syncopation, Yava. And the list goes on. Yava and Syncopation are hidden gems, only really hard core fans know that those are the real 10/10 songs😅 There is so much more to BABYMETAL that I am not going into. Let other fans give you that info. I would like to remind you that most of the songs I said here are old songs and should be seen as product of their times.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥 I'm glad to see more reactors getting into this group in such a special moment with the girls recently finished a couple of days doing their own festival with bands such Polyphia and Electric Callboy which they also released a fantastic new collab last week and getting everyone crazy. They also played this classic epic anthem and everyone enjoyed it in all of their setlist, is a song they don't wanna miss. Before to continue with the info in my comment lemme ask you kindly please be open minded with this group, you won't see another band or project like them around, they're not like those regular bands following the same formula they didn't reach global and international status for doing that, trust me, they're the reasons why you are listening all those Japanese females bands bc there was a before and after when they broke the metal scene with this new sound. Also one of the reasons the musicians are not the main focus in this project is because the front women of this group are the girls, in fact, nowadays none of these musicians you saw here are playing since last year for various reasons, such one of them married, the other one got his own project (pretty much everyone), another one died, etc etc, so it's really hard to get all the members of this group staying in this project, and they were not even the first original musicians of the band, even the girls suffered a huge lost when one of them left the group, so please kindly take these notes in mind bc is not a easy task to make a huge project like this when the girls started so young and knowing nothing about the metal scene, today I'm pretty sure they know and love more metal bands than you lol BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, she's 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, she's 24. -YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. _Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back. Here's your answer why they sound so similar to DragonForce, you'll see a lot of tributes and homages in their to many metal bands, the producer and creator KobaMetal is a massive metalhead fan and sometimes you won't even notice the tribute bc he knows a lot of bands The wall of death is insane , is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males. BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you hear album tracks remember they aren't playing there. In this case they are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues. Next suggestion: - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, Gans Tomas got this clip safe to react under Head Bangya title. Last week they released a new collab along with Electric Callboy but i won't recommend that song yet until you listen a couple of more songa and get what is this group all about. See you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

Nice reaction! The Dragonforce thing is clarified, I think 😉 It´s not easy to get, but BABYMETAL is the WHOLE package, and that includes the audience! Yes, the most visible and audible thing of it are the three young ladies. The whole thing was built around Su-Metal (17 at this time), the main vocalist, and her extremely beautiful and powerful voice. But as you could hear in this, Yuimetal (15) and Moametal (also 15 in this) are very good singers, too! The band is called "Kami Band" (East) and consists of world class session musicians. In this piece all four of them are from Japan. In BABYMETAL everybody is doing what they do best. The writing team does the song writing, the girls do the singing and the dancing (the performance as a whole), the musicians of the backing band do the music and the crowd does the atmosphere! You will get it as soon as you attend one of their live concerts. They are incredible live! Lately Su-Metal did her first song lyrics, she is the credited lyricist for the song "Divine Attack" of their concept album "The Other One". A good song for a reaction, too! And you will hear the "Kami Band West", consisting of session musicians from the US. If you really insist on seeing the "craftsmen" (pls don´t hate me for this, but in my view most musicians are exactly that. Some very few are real artists, the most are craftsmen and most of them are really good at their craft, don´t get me wrong!), try "Rondo of Nightmare" with the intro "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" from BABYMETAL, the Budokan 2014 live version.. It is a Su-Metal solo, rather dark song, but here the musicians have THEIR piece, too. And they really shine in this! You might become jealous, they are outstanding musicians, absolute masters of their craft. Another one would be "Kagerou" with the Kami Band intro, showing the Kami Band West. Masters of their craft, too!

There's a VERY good reason Babymetal have been one of the most popular and respected bands in the world among their peers over the past 14 years since they were formed . When I say peers - they have either toured with , opened for or collaborated with - Metallica , Korn , GunsN'Roses , RCHP , Sabaton , Bring Me The Horizon , Rob Halford ( Judas Priest ) , Tom Morello ( RATM ) , Electric Callboy etc to name but a few . This is in addition to being invited to appear at some of the world's biggest Festivals ( like Glastonbury ,Hellfest & Aftershock ) all this plus their own sold out World Tours - regularly playing to crowds of 20,000+ - they are truly a phenomenon !

Forget every preconceived notion you have about music performances. Babymetal is more akin to a musical theater than just a concert. If you are not into the choreography that is fine but no mistake the women ARE Babymetal. The Kami Band is though loved and respected by the fans. If you noticed their crowd control and interaction are 2nd to NONE and that is for any genre. The women are that connection to the crowd. I mean do people go to Broadway musicals and complain about not seeing the musicians or Operas and watch the orchestra? Of course not, they are just different. Oh and I am an old school metal fan for well over 40 years.

Originally as raw as it can get the band started with these lovely girls, they performed with backing track because they couldn't afford the cost of a live band in the very beginning as they had 🤏 resources then after some time live musicians went on board with BABYMETAL & has been their support live band since then, they mostly play live tho so the studio version of their songs is mostly not written by the support band even tho some of them has credits in a studio song here & there so yes you can say everyone who works with them is BABYMETAL, KOBA their main producer & the girls being the soul who created the band as a whole.

thank you for your great reaction . I genuinely felt that it was your first time seeing your reaction. I really enjoyed how realistic it was. I would like to see more of your comments on Babymetal. Your background knowledge is sufficient based on the comments for this video. I would love to hear the drummer's thoughts on the performances of the Kami Band and the vocals of the vocalist. In my view, what you would enjoy is the early Babymetal. It showcases a fresh contrast between teenage girls and top-notch musicians. I recommend videos from before 2016.

Biggest Japanese cultural export in recent years. Congratulations on finally doing this. At that age, they couldn't possibly understand just how epic this really was.

Here is the thing about Babymetal when they play in Japan their management markets them not the KAMI BAND which is their backing band They have the Eastern KAMI BAND and the Western KAMI BAND that translates to God band when they tour in Europe and the states everyone's on stage nobody's hidden the bands out in the open with Babymetal and the band in Japan they're not always hidden it just varies on what their production setup is when they do a concert and they put on huge concerts huge productions but that's only in Japan They only did one show in the States similar to what they do in Japan and that was at the Inglewood forum in Southern California in 2019

Compare it to western solo artists who also have a more or less anonymous backing band. Just look at for example Michael Jackson, he and the dancers get the spotlight while the band is in the back. One factor for this is the stage design, especially in recent years Babymetal have center stages for the big shows in Japan (from which most live videos are) and because the girls need the space the band is somewhere at the back. In smaller venues they are much closer to the band and in some recent live videos you could see more of the band. However since about 5 years the band wears masks. One of the reasons is that they have a band of American musicians for the extensive world tours and they would not fit visually into the Babymetal lore. But as the singer Su-metal said: Don't think, just feel. Just enjoy watching three young ladies having the time of their lives performing to heavy music and smile with them.

'As far as who's carrying the show, it's definitely the musicians.' That's not how the Kami Band themselves see it. Babymetal are a group who have a live band. Both group and band are giving 110%. Of course, without musicians, there would be no live music at all, but without Babymetal, the Kami band would not have been put together in the first place. Members of the the Kami Band themselves have publicly stated their awe for the girl's talent, energy and charisma. They are all elite at what they do, both girls and musicians. Without Babymetal, these shows don't happen at all. Also, the musicians do have major solo spots at the beginning of certain songs. Hopefully, with more context, you will see what I mean.

When was the last time you listened to *Through the Fire & Flames?* When Guitar Hero was still around? lol Not to disrespect, but even though Herman Lee wrote the guitar parts of this song for *BABYMETAL,* it in no way sounds like TTFAF. Especially not to the extent that you seemed to think. Just saying. Thx for the upload. I was entertained. Have a LIKE. 👍🏻

As obsessive as you were with the Dragonforce comparison, know that only a couple of their songs could be considered power metal. They explore all kinds of metal genres as well as creating the kawaii metal genre.

Great reaction and this was written by Herman and Sam from DF, Babymetal do use outside writers if it makes sense. The lead singer, SU-Metal is around 16 here and the two others are around 14. Babymetal are the three girls, the backing band is some of the best musicians in Japan. A lot of Band-Maid fans may have discovered Band-Maid through Babymetal (I did), they are like the gate opening to Japanese rock/metal. Once you get over the idea of three girls singing and dancing (it's a thing in Japan), you discover that their shows are on a different level. So Band-Maid and Babymetal two of the best but there are a lot of other rock/metal all female bands from Japan that are heads and shoulders above anything you find in the West.. Such as: Lovebites (power metal), Nemophila (metal), Hanabie (metal and WFF), and a lot more.

As another has commented, you'll be confused if you put normal conception about a "band" to BM. I usually simply call them a music group. There are more people involving to BM than you think. Each song can have different composers and/or arrangers as well. Composers don't play at the shows. Musicians don't write the songs and don't sing as well. The front girls don't compose nor play the instruments. But they all combine to produce really good songs and shows. Each one push their abilities further thanks to the focus on their own strengths. I like that because I can clearly see the diversity of styles in each BM song. If you continue with other songs, you'll see that as well. The only common theme is each song is produced revolving around the girls' performances, including the choreography. And as a person who likes both rock and dance/choreography, I appreciate any groups who would lift the shows with both aspects as well. The vocals and choreographies expand (and rebel, hence the song is their road of resistance to many obstacles they have to overcome) rock and metal for me. That's the true spirit of rock/metal, and thanks to them I finally threw out my old subconscious "gatekeeping" about each "genre".

Bet you thought you were on to something, and they stole a Dragon Force song 🤣 as you found out Herman Lee and Sam Totman did guiter arrangements and played on the studio version of ROR . Lots of reactors spot that and mention it . The backing band carries them ! They did not have a band until they got successful enough to pay for one . Noticed your Dream Token t shirt they opened for BabyMetal in 2019 . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼❤

Yeah you're gonna have to let go of your traditional expectations when dealing with this band. Keep an open mind and you'll be fine. This production is the creation of an entirely new genre of Metal. Just ask Rob Zombie, Metalica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Bring Me the Horizon, Electric Callboy, Rob Halford, all of whom have either toured with this band/collaborated with them.
