yes it is alive and live that is why it is so good. Live vocals and Roger sings just amazing. The guitar Pete is playing is just amazing. You are so right just awesome
The Who, The Stones and Paul McCartney, are all in their late 70's or early 80's and they still sound great. The energy they expend, especially Jagger, would humble someone 25 years younger! LEGENDS
@@danlovett3697 I have to disagree, saw him in Knoxville, in May of '22. Did a 2 hour 40 minute show, probably 35 or 36 songs, and I would say there were 4 or 5 that were a bit wonky. I will take that percentage. Plus he doesn't cheat with a bunch of back up singers to fill in around the edges. Does he sound as good at 80 as he did at 35? Hell NO. Was he still extremely entertaining? Hell YES.
I saw many great acts at MLG including the Beatles, but what a hellish barn of a place it was. Without screens in the earlier days vision from the floor was zero, and they often sat people in the raised seats behind the stage. The towering roof turned the finest sound set ups into mud. But, wow, was it great to be there - excusing even the 2-wide staircases and packed subways. Funny about that skunky smell when the lights went out, though ... 😉
My first concert was their “farewell” show in Toronto in 1982. I was 13. I was in a state beyond awe. I couldn’t believe I was watching the actual Who.
I was there too at the CNE, Joe Jackson opened and got booed off stage after someone threw a loaded hotdog at him hahahaha. I did a little too much acid that day, LOL....
Yes I saw their 1982 farewell concert in Phoenix, can remember Loverboy and John Mellencamp were the warm up acts and everyone hated them and someone hit Mellencamp, or Cougar as he was known at the time, in the head with a beer bottle.
@@steveacevedo820 Actually they did another 'final concert' in Toronto a few months later at MLG. LOL. (they played 2 nights).I saw that final concert but not the October 'final concert '
I was in the row directly behind you guys. I filmed a few songs in 4K and you guys are visible in my Pinball Wizard video, you guys added to the visuals and experience so i didn't crop you out. Great job representing Toronto from the front row, you guys Rock! And now you're a part of Who history! 🙂 (found you on another channel, posted again here in case the other comment gets deleted)
I just watched a 2022 Who concert on PBS and man is that drummer a master. Honestly I never remember this band sounding that good and being totally in sync.
As we used to say: "F--ken A Radio!" I've seen them twice with Keith and once with Kenny Jones. 1968, 1976 and 1988. Always my favourite band. Thanks for posting this.
OMG I had no idea the Who just played in Toronto. I have been a fan since Can't Explain in 1965. Saw them play twice years ago in the 1960's and again in those days. Cant believe Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend are still going
@@NannetteMcCormick the funny thing is that pretty much nobody recognized him other then my boss who was old enough to know who he was and it was more once he signed the receipt. I photocopied it so I had proof that he was there but I lost it over the years. That is the kick in ass about it all lol. Apparently he is pretty tall as well.
I’m not sure they are going out any time soon and even after losing two bandmates they still love to play. I have seen them too many times to remember but I can recall the first time they opened for Herman’s Hermits back in 67 or 68
@@kevinkotansky4184 They were certainly one of the best live show for a while. I have seen them with 3 different drummers over the years. Yes they did open for Hermans Hermits for a while and Jimi Hendrix opened for The Monkees. Strange but true
@@HamiltonRb Thanks for the reply back. Totally agree on the live show. Pete and Roger will live forever in our memories. Love the Jimi Hendrix mention.
I was there in "82 for their Farewell tour final show.. What I remember most was the bicep muscles of Kenny Jones on the drum kit. His forearms and biceps were like the "Hulk" and he hit those skins like no one other drummer I have seen since. Of course being from Toronto, Neil Peart was my favorite and still is, But Jones that night was a reincarnation of Keith Moon and I guess that is why he toured with them in 1982. Bloody 40 yrs ago and they are still right on top of it.
For This Sounds Really Good .The Memories Of My First Seeing Them March 27th 76 Winterland San Francisco Was Incredible Esp Since I Was 13 My First Concert And Again Oct 9th 76 Oakland Stadium John Entwistles Birthday Those First Two Times Were In A Great Era 1980 and 82 So Different With Kenny Jones on Drums But He Still Played Well Now In 2022 I Am Amazed Pete and Roger are Still At It
And there still going after how many years, I'd like to see, hear, and know of band's who have been going since the 60s that have lasted as long and are still going today, I was born in the 50s in the Erro of the Beatle, the Floyd, Purple, Cream, Zeppelin, and others, pity none of the band's today are as goog.
Who was there 40 years ago? Pete was there. Roger was there. I believe Roger's Telecaster was there. I was watching live on the big feed from Hartford Connecticut.
They’re competing with Macca and Jagger and Richards for the longevity award. 🥇 Amazing run! 🎃 The Music has kept them going! It gives them a reason to get up in the morning and structure in their lives. 🎃 And it sure helps that they have Zak Starkey on drums giving them a boost! He’s really good! 👏🏻🎃 Similar to how Macca got the two younger guys on his side playing guitars and a powerful drummer in back. Very smart! 🎃
@@johnnier.o.d4746 Yeah, should never forget Ringo! But he just got sidelined by Covid just when he was going to tour. Oh Well, damn Covid!. Hope he recovers soon! 👏🏻😊
I saw the real Who in 1968-69-70-71 and many more times after that until John Entwistle's death. What we have now is Daltrey and Townshend with studio musicians, background singers and an orchestra. They had to hire a lot of people to replace Keith Moon didn't they? No thanks. I wouldn't spend the money to see them now, but I understand if people who never saw them in their glory days think they sound good today. Trust me on this one; What you see today is a pale version of what they were. I'll treasure my memories instead.
Another one I tried to get to from NS , but would have had to go alone ....I wish we could get bands in Halifax...only 10 000 capacity so we don't get a lot of shows. I wanted to be here so bad, thanks for posting vids!
i remember the its hard tour. i was in chicago and we had to mail our money in and hope for a ticket. i worked at the post office and my neighbor swore i got my 2 tiks cause i worked there. i wore that its hard t shirt till it was falling apart.
Man oh Man…. These Two are THEE BEST IN THE BIZ! I have to laugh cause Roger states talking & Pete just just jumps in… That’s kills me 😂😂 Roger just stands & waits for him to Stop. Some things never change….. I Sincerely hope they don’t! Now Pete’s a Hoot…😂😂😂😂 C’Mon Roger do your lil wiggle with that guitar and feet!! In 82’ Man oh man you looked so Hot as Hell…❤❤❤❤
Great edge on both of them and Zach represents incredibly well. They bombed out twice on me in Houston. It was heartbreaking to be on the front row and watch Roger walk off and leave. Pete came out and said they couldn’t go on. Then they were supposed to come back and play. They cancelled that one as well. I’ve been burned at some big shows. At least 3 with the Stones. Twice we were in the arena in the front row. You can’t imagine how that feels. Once we flew to another country and waited all day to get our $1000 pit seats, and they cancelled.
Unfortunately I can imagine how that feels... Am in the USA and had front row center tickets for Toronto and the show was cancelled the very next day! Then it was rescheduled for a time that I could not attend. It's very disappointing but happens sometimes.
Was it you and couple up in front who Pete mentioned helped with the words if so congratulations 🎉great show we were second tier guess row 11 lots of leg room love that spot . I was told font row is excellent but that damn rolling camera guy obstructing view
Yes, Pete was talking to us!! I was over the moon about that. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine being acknowledged by Pete Townshend. And yes, rolling camera guy does obstruct view! Right in the center!
Always was into the Who, great music and performers. That said as with any concert the quality of the music needs to be there otherwise what's point. In this case it's obvious the sound engineers didn't do enough prep work or whatever else didn't do this band any favours on delivery.
Hello Happy Thanksgiving. I am wondering if you had any video with the drunk guy who stood 2 feet to the left. Thanks very much. P.S. I paid for the great time the next day!
